All the advice here is good. The state offers only a basic 12 panel test, testing metabolites of street drugs & some pharmaceuticals (adderall, benzos); no androgens. Good luck with that nonsense. I obviously fully believe in protecting children and giving them a safe environment to grow in, but as a rule, CPS are looking for fault, not there to support positive growth.

They are law enforcement, period. There are laws set for the protection of children, and judges orders are binding. It is NOT their job to look for or commend you for things that are right, it is 100% their job to find discrepancies in your duties as a parent and your adherence to any and all court orders. They are not your friend and anything you say, as cleverly worded as you may think it is, will be used against you in a courtroom. As far as steroids, if your ex knows of your usage of performance enhancing drugs there’s a very good chance you will be tested for them. You’re the only one looking out for your well being on this one bro, I do hope it goes well for you. For the record I didn’t mean to come across as harsh if it seemed that way, but I’d hate to see them put the fuckins’ on ya.

I second the advice from @eighty7 but do be responsive, calm in the face of any indignity they casually throw, and cooperate in the spirit of letting them spin their wheels but don’t give up your liberties just to prove what should be a baseline assumption. They can’t test you without any court order or your agreement, letting them in to check on your shit will get them recording only every little detail they have a problem with and nothing positive, finally, no original panel testing will hit 7 drug metabolites and most of the time it’s not even gonna be that accurate at that. It’s when you start putting fake piss or messing with the tests that people get caught up. If anything is in your pocket you don’t tell them like a Visine bottle or something they red flag your sample and send it to be tested for every damn thing. If you fail a piss test by having cold piss or whatever, you might just be trying to control against something irrelevant to the case but they’ll treat that as reason for any damn thing besides assuming you’re dishonest in all statements. Just acknowledge that they got a emotionally overwhelming yet noble and important job that you respect, listen and ask for details on the process and “advice” they may have based on their “expertise” and then decline any questions beyond what they already know and decline to let them go peek around inside your body or property. For all they know you just work and go to church; there’s nothing more to you and you’ll be happy to help but don’t have time for measures taking facts from you or profiling you because you’re not in the wrong and you’re already doing a courtesy by even calling back or answering the door … that’s time you could be saving the dolphins and shit like that. Would you knock on their door and ask them to do your job instead of attending to their job, affairs, family, and community? No. If they drug test there’s no way it’s for steroids unless that’s been accused and relevant to their case. So no, don’t give piss to anyone and always clarify whether you have any obligation to continue to engage or answer questions. Hang in there and be well.

CPS won't test you for steroids and don't let them in your house without a warrant. They're just as bad as a cop, NOTHING good can come from talking to them.
