TRT dose

ad

5 weeks ago I stopped using a testosterone gel (testim). And started weekly injections of test c at 125mg from a source on here. Today I got my blood work results back, test level was 387, that is 87 points higher then the gel. 387 is still low so how much should I up my dose? My doctor will not prescribe an injectable, and said with the test gel ,a 300 test level was in range. I disagree, so that's why I need some feedback.

Thanks

It's more difficult to get high normal numbers with gels and creams. Absorption rate varies. Injectable are more reliable - 150 per week injected twice per week gives nice smooth levels.

I do 120mg of human grade test c, did blood work last week and my levels are 900. I think you stuff may be underdosed

pacop's picture

That could be a possibility. I am trying another sources test c at the same dose for 5 weeks and will get blood work done.

Another thing I just remembered, was about 5 years ago my doctor switched me from the gel(testim) to the tablet methitest ( methyltestosterone) And with the tablets my total test was 190, so he switched me back to testim the gel, which brought me back to 300 total testosterone level. So, I don't want to say anyone's gear is under dosed, until i can compare in 5 weeks the result's.

Thanks

That is a distinct possibility, but everyone processes test differently as well. Switching brands would be a good start and see what the bloods tell you. If that doesn't work, you will have to up your dose to bring it up most likely (there may be other options as well, such as provrion).

I just pinned 125 mg from a different source. I'll get my blood work checked again in 5 weeks. And then I'll adjust from that. Will provrion help increase my total testosterone levels? And what dose of provrion should I start at?

Thanks

Just go with test for now and see what your bloods say. There are some great posts on provrion here, so use the search button and read up. Once you do, post up your questions.

Sounds good, thanks bro!

What was the timeframe from pin to bloodwork?

pacop's picture

6 days, I pin 125mg on Saturday mornings, the blood work was done on a Friday.. So, I pinned on Dec. 21st and blood work done Dec. 27th. I've been pinning125mg every Saturday, for the last 5 weeks. This Saturday will be my 6th injection.

It depends on what your goal is. The most aggressive dose of trt actually prescribed by a doctor that I've seen is 200mg/week. which if the source is good should put you just slightly outside of physiological range.

tbh your best option is simply to test and adjust, and I would HIGHLY recommend finding a more trt friendly GP or even seeing an endocrinologist specifically.

Doss's picture

250/wk of enanthate will have you around 2000 total test

WhyNot's picture

Not for everyone. There are a lot of people that will end up under the 1500 mark at 250mg

250 mg a week is definitely excessive for most people, having said that there are a few people that required 250 mg just to get into the high normal range around 800. TRT in a lot of ways is more complicated than AAS in my opinion. It's such an individualistic thing. It's basically trial and error with bloodwork confirmation. It can take some people up to a year to get dialed in.

Doss's picture

What then are the variables that make release from the paired ester individualistic? Not saying you're wrong or right; trying to understand.

My thought process is along these lines:

Take a medication in two forms (oral and injectable), and measure the blood plasma effects of each. You'll notice inconsistencies that are completely dependant on the individual. This is due to digestive, liver enzyme, and protein binding factors. Injectable meds however tend to show a consistent pattern due to the medication being administered almost directly into the circulatory system. Pharmacologically speaking, the only factor governing the effects are those of the ester it is paired with. At least that's my understanding.

WhyNot's picture

You are absolutely correct. It has to do with the way individuals metabolize the compound and that is associated with the ester. For example take testosterone Cypionate. The average half-life is eight days. But for some individuals ( if you look at studies) can be 4 days or 10 days (These would probably be two standard deviations from the Bell curve).

That is why TRT is so much more complicated when it comes to dosing then AAS. It's a very individualistic approach. But I do agree that 250 mg a week is over the top for the majority of people when it comes to TRT.

My goal is to get my test levels 500-600.Yeah, my doctor did recommend that I see an endocrinologist. I'll have to wait on that, since I'll be without health insurance for 3-6 months.

Thanks

Is it possible for you to post your stats as well as history and bloodwork along with the specific ranges. It will be helpful in giving you advice.

pacop's picture

Stats, 37years old,215lbs.Been on TRT for 7years, way before I used any aas.Using the test gels (testim and andro gel). My test levels have been 280-310 using the gels over the last 7 years. 4 years ago I stopped using the gels and my test level was 180, so then I continued using the gels again.

If you need more information, let me know

Thanks

Here is what I would recommend. Increase your dosage by 50 mg a week and run that dosage for five weeks. Then get blood work done to see where your testosterone level is as well as your E2. If your E2 is high you are going to need to incorporate an AI. If you get to where you want to be then just maintain that dosage if not repeat the process again. Here are a few other things that will help you. Supplement with DHEA as well as Pregnenolone, both available over-the-counter. Incorporate hCG into your protocol at a dosage of 150 IU three times a week. Do biweekly injections, it will elevate your free testosterone level by a greater amount than dosing once a week. Hopefully this helps.
