optimal testosterone for improving memory
ad
Although the study is a tad old (2007), I think the findings are interesting. To boil it down, 100mg of test E a week seems to be the optimal amount to improve memory and cognition. The 300mg per week group actually had worse performance than the 50mg and placebo groups.

I wonder if estrogen is the reason for the decreased memory performance
Actually, from what I have been reading in literature lately (your query got me digging in) is that elevated estrogen is good for cognition, but obviously most people would rather not have "bitch tits" even if it made them a little smarter. Grossly elevated test will make people feel more confident however actual measurable cognition will be mildly impaired. Therefore most people will feel smarter on supraphysiologic doses of test, but that perception is not true. Basically, there is not free lunch out there. If you are trying to be a top level academician, the doses that get you jacked and make you feel supremely confident may impair your performance slightly. To most people, however, a few IQ points in exchange for looking and feeling like a superhero is probably worth it.
Uauhh I wonder if my poor cognitive performance is due to my low estrogen levels, amongst other issues my memory is piss poor...
I´ll soon find out, good post mate !
J2, Good point. I don't see why test 300mg would decrease memory compared to mem 200mg/w. I've been on trt for a while and find that my memory improves even more when on cycle.
Yeah, that is a confounding factor. I do know a friend who did research on how estrogen antagonists effected memory, and she said that people who take anti-estrogen compounds have decreases in their memory. I have no idea about the particulars of that study though so it might not be relevant.
interesting. Well I do know aromasin is metabolized by a certain enzyme in the liver.
Memory problems could be a symptom of liver stress
just throwing ideas out there =)
is that study published? if you could pull it up that would be awesome.
I wish I could: the anti-estrogen study was verbally explained to me by a colleague who I haven't seen for over a year.
