+ 1 Let me try this again. ....

ad

So, yesterday I posted, asking about a T-enenthate / Deca cycle. Then minutes later found a post about that exact thing. Realized 1) there are an equal number of people who will say Deca sucks as there are people who will say it's God's gift to muscle. 2) it's gotta be taken WITH the T, not one, then the other....and 3) how stupid my post sounded, and 4) I have a shitload more reasearch to do.

So let me start simply. I'm 45. Great health. Recently had bloodwork done. All lipids, cholesterol, triglycerides....everything...normal.

So, wanting to do another cycle (forget the deca, think I'm going pure T-Enanthate). At my age, are the any special precautions I should take. ...besides the PCT- which I am still researching, and anti estrogens...which I'm still researching. Basically anything I need to be aware of that the 20-something crowd doesn't have to consider?

  1. I keep reading about getting blood work done during the cycle. Exactly what kind of things am I watching for? And is there a particular lab work-up that I would request that would cover all the right stuff? Do I just walk into LabCorp and ask that they run the Meathead blood panel on me? (Said with all due respect....a lot of you guys are making me dizzy with the knowlege you pour out in these posts. You sound like doctors)

Well, anyway, I hope some of you can point me in the right directions.

Roger that. Hell, it may even confirm that I'm normal.

This is why you need beginning bloods...also getting a base for things like PSA and Liver enzymes is a plus...all things affected while on AAS, even at low dose TRT it will affect your PSA readings. you know what they say, by the time you have symptoms its late in the game. Get started before it becomes an issue

ripcord's picture

Wow! Really? Possible I could have low T even without fatigue or anything. I'm going to sound ignorant again, but I thought there were certain definite symptoms to having low T?? Googling now...

Hi, Freeze.

Well, my knowlege level is exactly why I'm here. My past "cycle" consisted of a buddy who got me a vial of test, told me how much I could inject per week, explained that my balls might shrink up and said I'd be fine. So I did my weekly injection, busted my ass in the gym. On weeks 5 and 6. I tapered down the dose, then stopped. No Hcg, no PCT, no blood work. I was totally ignorant of the process.

And I consider myself very lucky. Everything came back online. And currently, I haven't had any tests done on my T levels, but my energy, libido, erections are all normal. So I assume the T levels are ok.

What do I want to do?
See just how fit (and big) an old guy I can become. I've worked out regularly since I was 18. I know I'm in better overall shape than most 30 year olds I see schlubbing around society.

But, I've never been heavier than 170, arms never quite reach 13", chest never larger than 40". So , I basically want to try to push my body beyond what seems to be is natural limits.

In the last 2 days, I've learned a shitload about what all I didn't know. Enough to decide to bump up my caloric intake and keep trying to see what I can do naturally until I understand what everything I'd be taking would do to me.

So, yeah, I still have a lot to learn. But I've never said I was in a rush. That's why I'm here.

I would find out what your natural test levels are first..huge step here as this could set the stage for what comes later. If you have low T get an Endocrinologist and get started on some TRT..at your age its more likely than not.

Freeze's picture

just reading a bit through the post here and theres lots of good information....One thing that stands out to me is your knowledge level on what your doing to your body...I would go research exactly what Testosterone does for you..good and bad. Shits all over this interweb thingy. Whats your natural Test level looks like? Also, what are you trying to do? Look hot pick up chicks, Mr Olympia, Beat up your neighbor?? I saw you did a previous cycle? Was that replacement therapy or a ...cycle? 200mg/wk is very low for a cycle...this is what leads me back to my first thoughts. Your putting shit in your body so even basic knowledge can keep you from doing harm to yourself.

Thanks, Scooby. And BINGO! I can pack away 3000 calories a day, lift heavy and intense....and I get long strong, wiry muscles. The biggest I've ever been was 175 at about 9% bf. That was on a 6 week cycle of 200mg/wk t-enthanate. I'm wanting to find out how I can build at higher dose.

Question - I've seen the suggested dose 2mg per lb of lean body weight. For me that will be 300 mg. But I keep seeing everyone talk about 500mg per week. Would this be safe for me?

ripcord's picture

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I keep reading how deca basically shuts it all off. Sounds like extra risk. And not sure I want to be on something for that long a cycle. And as far as calories, I'll probably bump it up an extra 500 a week starting a couple weeks before the cycle. Then I can guage the lean mass gain. Don't want to pack on to much fat. I like to keep cut. But I agree, I need more fuel. I would assume this means a shitload of chicken, turkey, fish...and double up on my 10 lb bags of protein shakes. ☺

Ok.So you can put weight(fat) on?I was under the impression you were the type that couldn't gain weight. If you're not gaining at a certain calorie level, then bump it up like you said.If you're gaining weight at 3000 cals a day,you may want to hold there like iron stated.

ripcord's picture

Oh, yeah....I can gain fat, if I'm not careful. I just have trouble getting muscles to thicken up and grow past a certain point. Sorry...didn't know fat counted.

scoobydoo's picture

3000 calories probably isn't enough for you.I've seen lean guys packing away 5000+ just to try and hold onto an extra 5 lbs.Higher doses won't build the muscles. You need calories. If you can get good results off of 300mg a week, that's what I'd do.Don't worry about what other people are doing.Yes,I feel 500mg a week would be safe, but the higher the dose, the more sides.

This guys 45 man. He's not a teen or young adult My dad could bulk on 2300 calories if he wanted and he's this guys age. Most guys his age would be morbidly obese in 2 months on 5000 cals a day. 3000 is a great place for him to start and means he still has a decent metabolism for his age as most people his age would get fat as shit eatinf that much. Second he weighs 160lbs. I have a fast ass metabolism and when I was 160 I was gaining steadily on a little more then 3000, but I was also 24 years younger then him. I don't even need 5000 cals now at 200lbs.

ripcord's picture

LOL... having never had kids, it's always kinda weird hearing I'm the same age as someone's dad!

scoobydoo's picture

It has nothing to do with age. He's an ectomorph and is not gaining weight at 3000 calories a day.

ripcord's picture

Hey, your the first I've heard say that more test won't make you bigger. Thanks for that tidbit. I got good results with the 100 mg and no side effects. (Didn't know about PCT either, so count me lucky). I've been a little concerned about having to take a large dose at my size. I want to keep my natural test production as long as possible.

scoobydoo's picture

More test will make you bigger, but most of the time it's just added water. It really is all about calorie intake. If you're looking to keep your natural test production as long as possible,it was a good idea to drop the nandrolone(deca). That can shut you down pretty hard.

Nice! You're on your way. I'm glad. +1

Looking at your stats(45 5'9" 160lbs),my guess is you're one of those naturally lean sons a bitches.lol You should also be looking into your diet.If you are naturally lean, you're going to need many more calories than an average guy to hold onto any size. Most guys get the female hormone panel for a blood test.Privatemdlabs usually has coupons and it will cost about $50-$60.
