+ 1 Acne on TRT?

ad

Anyone get bad body acne on TRT? If so will the TRT doc prescribe anything for it? Or will I have to go to the derm for an assessment?

The increased levels of testosterone can cause the skin to produce more sebum, which then leads to an overgrowth of bacteria that can lead to acne breakouts

Hey,

Here's my 2 cents from someone who suffered greatly with acne. Yes, on trt dosages.

1 buy a hypoallergenic strong antibacterial soap.

I use a very good one from Amazon called defense. Here's the site, DefenseSoap.com its a powerful natural soap with antibacterial fighting agents.

2 Eliminate dairy entirely. Believe it or not dairy is notorious for increased sebum oil production in your pores.

3 Use a hypoallergenic laundry wash. I notice the ones containing perfumes or any synthetic solvents cause me to have irritation and break out everywhere.

4 bring a extra shirt, i learned from a dermatologist as you sweat your pores open and can clog right back up. If you live in very humid conditions this is a MUST.

5 take a warm shower, then immediately apply cold water and dry off. Hot water will cause extreme inflammation causing the skin to get worse.

Lastly, I would suggest to lower your trt dose if your DHT is too high or REDACTED

Seems like a high level of DHT for such a low T level. Your doing some serious conversion. What was the reference level of the DHT test? Typical lab ranges for DHT are 16-79 or 30-85 ng/dl. Your at supraphysiological levels with 217.

Got my results from blood work and they are as follows -

Total Test = 355.1
Total Estrogen = 23.1
DHT = 217.0
Estradiol = 17.0

Doctor doesn't believe my acne has anything to do with these levels so now I'm going to have to see a dermo.

It can happen, even from a trt dose. Its commonly from estrogen fluctuation. Also, Sometimes it can be influenced by the carrier oil, the dose or AI or the quality of the AI manufacturer. I went to a dermatologist and he went on and on about the fact that I would pretty much always have it because of the exogenous hormones and he pushed and pushed me to see the endo in his hospital. I was opposed to allowing a different provider screw with my dosing. I switched from generic aromasin to Pfizer and it cleared right up.

I would play around with the carrier oil, AI drug and manufacture one at a time to see if that yields any relief. You might also see flare ups this time of year because of the heat and how it can increase microbial activity on your skin resulting in an increase on acne.

If none of these work, you can try sun exposure, chlorinated water exposure or even ocean water may help reduce it.

Seeing the TRT doc tomorrow for bloods but was wondering before hand if he would prescribe anything for acne at the visit but it looks like that won't happen from what you are all saying. My test levels were at 323 after 6 weeks on 100 mg so then he increased it to 200mg a week. Been on about a year but acne resurfaced in the last 6 months or so.

I have done cycles in the past and gotten really bad acne from it and had to have doxycycline and some antibiotic ointment to get rid of it.

Now it's not cystic (which it was when I did cycles) but it's a good amount mostly on my back, chest, shoulders and down both sides of my rib cage.

My diet is fine and I do not drink or smoke.

Friend many factors affect the appearance of acne. A poor diet can promote this problem, but also smoking and alcohol. Each of us has different weaknesses. It can also depend on bad habits or stress.
Generally in our case it is a hormonal problem, caused by the use of AAS. A blood test will tell you the progress of your hormones.

We need your total test, free test, and estrogen levels as it sounds hormone related. If I take more than 150 mgs or if I’m using hcg I’ll get acne from the extra estrogen produced.

Buy a harsher soap. Helped me with my back 100%. I'm guessing your estrogen is probably high

TEST increases production of skin oils which contribute to acne. If it's really bad you could ask the TRT Doc for Accutane which is a strong drug wit some sides. If it isn't too bad just try good hygiene.

Do they give out Accutane in the US on TRT? In the U.K they have become much less keen on handing it out on the NHS - when I've tried they would only do it if I agreed to have my bloodwork monitored for liver checks etc. Obv I said no as I didn't know how my doctor would take seeing my test levels Lol

Testosterone levels won’t come up on a liver test and the dermatologist won’t check your hormone levels as the blood test is expensive and they’re only interested in the health of your organs. If you’ve got cystic acne then I would recommend accutane - doctor prescribed,it changed my life pre gear usage.

I would recommend not running any orals 6 month prior to using accutane as it can be pretty harsh stuff.

I tended to just think they'd do an extensive test on everything with it effectively being free for them as such, thing is though is she already knows I'm running gear you can just tell by 'the look' I get - and the 'changes in hormone levels cause skin oil' speech I also heard Lol

I did run some UGL accutane several years back and it gave me full on cotton mouth and a shit appetite instantly so stopped it. I don't get the spots nowadays, it was just the initial outbreaks you get when your body is suddenly being bombarded with the good old Test & Dbol beginner cycles.

Muscleneck's picture

I believe that is caused by an increase in DHT.
