+ 5 What is your core motivation? Where did it come from (No modesty allowed here)
Not what gets you going each day but that one thing that has been the core of everything you've done, maybe it's shaped your whole life, your personality and transitioned in to the gym. What is it?
For me, it's always been to be capable, strong, able to defend myself and others but not just that, I wanted to be the best, the strongest, the fastest and for a point in my life I believe I obtained that amongst my circles and in comparison to the general public, even in maybe my worst shape over the last 20yrs, I am still leagues ahead of most people physically. I still have that core desire but as age catches up, so does humility, it gets harder, sometimes I forget what drove me and I need to access it again.
When I think back of what began this desire, I remember being a young child, skinny and admiring people like Sly and Arny, I remember watching helplessly as weak people were taken advantage of, hurt, killed and I was too frail and afraid to do anything about it. So I vowed to become something else, I became the thing that people would instinctively feel was a quiet threat when I entered a room. People have told me that when they seen me coming, they had thought about going the other way or avoiding me, even though I didn't look like I was looking for trouble, something about my demeanor made them feel I was dangerous and they weren't wrong. I am always the guy to step in to the crowd of on lookers to stop something from happening. My upbringing made it impossible for me to be a part of the bystanders apathy that affects the general public and watch atrocities happen without doing anything and it's gotten me in some bad places and I've done things that I often regret but not as much as I probably should. Thinking of those situations and remembering how they could have gone worse had I not been in the condition I was in, knowing I was able to save people from bad things because of my size and training is what always brings me back and when I start to feel my motivation slipping further away, then I think about the times I failed. I think about the times I wasn't fast enough, strong enough, I remember the panic and the feel of dying weight in my arms as my heart pounded and my legs wanted to fail but I couldn't let them, not yet, because my pain was nothing...in those last yards, the last few reps, the last pulls, I remember their faces and that's what really pushes me to the next level and leaves me depleted, heaving, face contorted and somewhere beneath all the sweat and tears my face is contorted with a range of pains and for a few moments, I finally feel relief.
Writing this out was more for me than anything, I've been recovering from injuries and illness and it's been difficult to get back in, seems like everytime you go something else happens but now I remember why I need to and can't let myself quit,
Thanks @BFG for creating a place where I can actually say these things, I don't share this stuff with friends or family.

I was always told how skinny I was growing up. People treated me however they wanted. It was crazy to see how differently people treated me when I started to put on muscle. It may not be a healthy motivation but I dont want to go back to being the person who people thought they could push around.
Combating my childhood obesity as well as other demons throughout my life. This hobby is the only thing that’s made me stronger mentally and physically as well as researching philosophy and consciousness.
When I was younger my motivation to be in the gym was simply because I was.always smaller and got my ass kicked by everyone. Now it's because after my last LTR ended in 2020 coupled with covid and a lot of shitty dating I got real depressed and ballooned up to 270lbs. The comeback I started last year was spurred on by finally meeting a girl who I thought wanted a future but instead was talking to another guy the whole time telling him I'm ugly and unattractive. My overall disposition to spread.love and kindness in life is that I never want to be like all the people who hurt me. I've seen enough hatred for a lifetime and will not spread any myself. Always apologize and always forgive. Life's too short
JoeysnackzsAlways been the fat friend in the group who could never get a get a word in. Started going to the gym in after highschool putting my size to work. Down a hundred pounds most of the people I went to highschool with dont even recognize me (i live in a very small local area, to prevent it sounding like I peaked in highschool.) but yeah its more ritualistic for me to go to the gym now

Back in 1964 I was walking down the beach with my first cousin; proud of my new red swim trunks.
Then KMC walked up. The rest is history.

Yup, that ad was definitely my first inspiration to want to work out, LOL
Changed over the years but always the same core motivation. To do everything I do 100%. Family, fun, work and exercise. I don’t talk about shit unless it’s done or imminently done. Personally, I’ve never identified (lol) as a BB even though I’ve worked out for 40 years non stop. It makes me a better father, husband and provider and that’s really all I care about. Muscles are nice but we all end up in the same place and few are remember for their big biceps.
That's a very good mentality to have. I know a lot of us tend to lean one way or another when it comes to where we put our energy, sounds like you have a well rounded method for handling that.
Lifted-presence92To look good naked and pure love for the pump and the pharmacology regarding the juice and it’s applications!
Sometimes I forget what what drove me and need to access it again.... Thats me right there right now. Good read thanks for posting. Makes me reach deep down inside and pull the beast out that originally got me in the gym. BEAST MODE last divorce several years back got me back in the gym along with kicking a drug habit. Wanted everyone that sees me to know I live a different life than I used to along with taking out the aggression from the last relationship.

My uncle was a pro wrestler in the 60s and 70s, not big. But ended up managing a few stars after his run and is even in the hall of fame. And my dad was a total wise guy type. Straight up. And I was was this chubby kid quiet. It's when I lost my parents as a teenager I didn't wanna feel alone or weak anymore and. I put the dope and drinks down and decided to do something about it. I've been ill here and there in last year and gained a lot of fat. I just got back I to the gym. No matter where I go if I'm in a gym. I'm home.im not alone. I'm trying to better myself
But I'm trying to finally make these traps finally stop hiding. Much love yolk!
Can't do anything about my baby Penis.
