PcushionI don’t use music. I lift with my eyes closed. It creates a mind body connection. In the golden era they didn’t gave headphones. They listened to dings if the plates and their bodies.
Ha. I do the exact same thing. Read about Arnold doing it and it works. You can concentrate more on the muscle you use and where in the muscle you working on.
PcushionThat’s exactly who I got it from and it works incredibly. You almost reach a meditative state. If you get a chance purchase “The Encyclopedia of Modern Day Bodybuilding” by Arnold Schwarzenegger. I use it for everything. It’s got training protocols and diet protocols for every level of lifting. It’s got hormone information, posing techniques, injury prevention and rehabilitation, literally everything. Best money I ever spent.
Dude, you know I never read that book before? Unfortunately, that's true.
Is it very detailed?
Consider the large muscle mass that Arnold had.
Add AAS lol
PcushionIt has everything brother. It’s extreme detailed. I love it.
jayiskits considered the "the bible of bodybuilding".., most people never heard of it because it came out way before the internet. It was very advanced and ahead of its time. it has a wealth of knowledge and awesome photos from BB greats.
I've seriously had that book since I was 10 years old - I was so fascinated with it. Read it page over many a time - to sit and write all that out just shows how dedicated and devoted he truly was to the sport, its unbelievable the passion he has for things. There will NEVER be another Arnold, I'm dreading the day he passes things just won't be the same again.
Arnold had a great personality. He came from a poor family but his desire to go further made him a star.
Actor, politician, entrepreneur and film reproducer.
He had a lot of humor and was ambitious.
Arnold's not just a former old-school bodybuilder.
He will remain a myth for all generations.
jayiskAnd all the exercises in that book are just done with a barbell, dumbbells and some cable machines. No plated loaded machines. And look at the physiques on those old school BB's.
Is there a part about nutrition? Arnold had great muscle mass. I'd be curious. Nowadays people aim more at defining and lowering their BF. In the old school I don't remember so many categories
jayisknot sure. i havent seen or read that book in decades. But early BB's or Arnold generation followed basic diet plans. The info was not out like now.
Arnold had great muscle mass but not like the monster of the 90's and to present. That is why a lot of BB's are going for the classic look.
Major difference was the quality of the food they had available.
But it does go to show that these guys trained very hard. I would reason nutrition is very important but from what i see people dont know how to train properly.
Doesn't make sense to invest all that time and money on food/nutrition and gear but not have a solid training plan. And actually put in the work training with barbells, db's, pull ups/dips, etc.
Too many people go in the gym and wing it. And have a bad habit of just using plate loaded machines, some DB's, and a cable machine. usually with bad form too.
You have to admit as well man - Look at the massive amount of anabolics we have available now that they didn't have back then: HGH, Taboo, Superdrol, Halo, E.Q, M1T,..
Think all they had was Deca, Dbol, Winny and possibly test wasn't it.
jayiskYes, and they didnt have 10 ml bottles. it was single amps so doses were much lower. they ran just steroids basically not the 8 to 10 other PED's BB's run today.
Granted the top guys like Arnold obv. had the genetics. but again less gear, no various PED's, not a lot of info on nutrition. So i have to say again they busted their asses training. I am speaking about Arnolds era of BB.
that type of training is no labeled PowerBuilding.
jayiskthink Arnold had AM radio to listen to back then off a stereo and speakers if the gym even had it....,lol

Nothing wrong with pantera, vulgar display of power and far beyond driven albums beautifully made.
Did I say there was? Lol Pantera were my favourite band years ago
Haha yeah pantera was my dad's era I'm 31. Not that long ago I went out and music venue I go to alot. They were having a emo/screamo night. Music I listened to in high school. Long story short it was a 17 and older event, did not know that at the time and they knew all the words to my old favorite songs. jayisklol.., actually after all the training i am calm. by that point just worried about what to eat.
during deads though people do seem to move away from me. or stop what they are doing and stare.
something about the sound of plates slamming around and the crazy look in my eyes. Esp after hitting some ammonia before the heaviest sets and my head turning red. and nobody ever asks to jump in or how many sets i have left...haha
