Week from Hell

ad

So Wednesday was my first day of a new internship so I was already nervous and stressed which threw off my workouts at the beginning of the week. As Wednesday came around I left my house around 730 am and arrived at my internship and everything was actually going well and I seemed to be adapting to the enviornment. Around 10 am I get a call from my roommate saying he just got home from work and our house had been robbed. They took everything and anything they could, TVs, xboxs, laptops, etc. After this happened my head has just been all over the place and my lifts have been terrible. My plan was to start my cycle in mid June but I may push it back until I am ready and focused again. How do any of you cope with losses or tragic events and keep your head in the game? Thanks for any help

Death, adversity, and losing what you don't want to lose in this life will always come. Many people stay in denial about these things that is why when they come people either, panic, breakdown, and or give up by moping into a long lasting self pity depression. But it is like bodybuilding you have to train your mind in this life very hard and with the right methods to overcome the standard mediocre way that so many of us have become accustomed to settling for.

This training isn't easy but nothing that brings a truly unique and great result is. Many people who have not understood my training and how I approach life have accused me of being to harsh and cold but really it is quite the opposite. I don't mind if people think that either because there no malice in there thoughts just fear. Fear that it maybe possible to function and not be afraid and worried has you go on your way through life's adversities.

The opposite is where the truth is because I don't break down or make every tragedy center on me and what I lost, I am able to bring true comfort and stability to others who are afraid or broken down. I by no means am claiming to not have emotions or feelings just processing them differently for my benefit and those around me.

I reconciled to myself when I joined the military and have been in multiple combat battles that I am already dead. And every time that I came out obviously not dead it was like I was already a head of the grain therefore whatever happens to me now is irrelevant because I have more than I deserve anyways. to this very day I still hold to this way of thinking and it has served me well.

I could go on and on but that is the gist of it. You my friend and your roommate are safe and ok so you are also a head of the game. Unfortunately no one has ever promised us we wouldn't get rob or even killed but I will be damned if I am going to let some bastard steel the rest of my life on top of it by being afraid and or depressed.

There is a saying in the Navy, "The only easy day was yesterday". teach yourself to look at life this way then you will realize you are in a war and even though you get some rest & relaxation you will always come back to war! Good fortune to you my brother.

Beast, I know how you feel but with a slightly different curve. I owed the IRS 23,000 for 2011 and paid them 9 g's and get a letter basically saying they want their 14 g's by July 1st which will NEVER happen. I just go on because honestly I can't change anything. Just move forward and concentrate on other things. Why bump up your cycle? Use your cycle as a way to get your mind off of this horrible thing. Trust me, you will lift harder and stronger as you direct that anger, sadness, confusion, etc towards the metal plates. Best of luck brother.

I should have added, yes I know how you feel. But these reality checks will teach you a lot more about life than many things would. I'm a lot wiser about the world because of crap like this happening to me, too.

I kind of take consolation knowing that petty thieves and other garbage like that will eventually pay for it, or at the very least live miserable lives, and are losers unlike guys motivated to move up in life.

Man, I'm really sorry to hear about that!

I don't think there's a "great" answer to your question. However, having gone through personal problems that affected me, it helped a lot just to stay focused on other things. Yeah, I know it sounds like a cliche, but its true.

You will also have to realize that if it wasn't this, it would be something else-bad circumstances are inevitable. In my case if it weren't for my dedication to hitting the gym I think I might almost become alcoholic during depressing times; and I can assure you I was VERY depressed.

It wasn't easy, but with a little pre-workout drink I was more focused than I expected. Just (trying to) giving 100% gave me a least enough to keep my head in the game, more or less.

Just do your best, don't give up. If you can overcome this, you'll have learned a lot more and will be able to push through harder things later in life.
