UK Food Portions.
Ok, I admit it, I'm greedy. When it comes to meat / fish etc. that boy on "Man vs Food" is an amateur in comparison. I like eating out, I don't really drink so it's about the only typical social thing we do. Recently I can't help noticing British food portions are becoming smaller and I invariably walk out of a restaurant to go home and cook more food. I've been saying this for about two years. A couple of weeks ago I had a couple of days in Florida, (work unfortunately), and I realised I need to move to the U.S.
Why? Better weather? Higher salary? Education? Miami Beach?
None of those things actually.
You get decent sized portions of food that would feed someone bigger than a ten year old. I was actually full for the first time in ages. I had a rack of ribs that quite honestly must have belonged to a T-Rex. That's more like a "portion of food".
I'm therefore moving.

Move to the gulf Coast big man all the seafood you want big portions and cheap as hell, and in certain areas you can buy a whole steer butchered and all how you want for about 600 bucks cut how you want
Up here in the north eating out is pretty cheap compared to some of the prices these guys are throwing around. Depending on whether we eat a classic place I love (but probably the least healthy) for about 25 bucks for my wife and I, our favorite steak house where I promise you will never leave hungry 50-70 bucks with tip to the most expensive place we eat, Sushi, usually 100 bucks with tip. All three of these you will be full.
I should also add the one chinese buffet we stop at on occasion if pressed for time. 8 bucks lunch and 13 bucks each for dinner. They have little steaks , chicken and shrimp you can have them cook however you want as well as a decent buffet. I eat pretty good but they don't even blink an eye at me compared to all the whales that show up and eat like their lives depended on it,lol
You should try Louisiana! If you leave an eating establishment hungry, it's your own fault.

That sounds like my sort of place.
I hate to break it to ya, but where I live food portions get smaller and smaller as well, especially the more you pay per meal. Valentine's day I shelled out $500 for two, including a scotch for me and a glass of wine for the misses (we aren't heavy drinkers), and my appetizer, entree, and desert were so small, $12 at McDonald's could've filled me better. I'm not going to say the food wasn't good (albeit HIGHLY over rated) but I'd expect to be at least satiated afterwards...
We do have a special place we go when we go out, and it being an old school Italian establishment, I need to loosen my belt a notch or two to make it out of there. Reasonably priced too, I usually leave $160 for a split appetizer, two entrees, two desserts , and a bottle of wine.

Do ya'll have smorgasbord restaurants over there? Lot of them here. Foods from everywhere and all you can eat for $8.
"All you can eat" restaurants ban people like me. We went to an Argentinian grill once and they kept taking my plate away until we were asked to leave :(

lol they sure do, the place me and the mrs. go to is achinese seafood buffet, they try and push the check on us after I only had 7 plates, my wife has a running bet with me on how many plates before they try and push us out.
See that's where they make a mistake. Putting the bill on the table before I asked for it is just going to make me eat more to annoy you, it's then a challenge of "just how much damage can I do to your profit margin".
The check on the table is my sign I haven't even had dessert yet so its time to up my game a bit They have a brazilian steakhouse in my neck of the woods that sees me coming and they greet me and have a good time. 50.00 all you can eat mostly meats no salad no starches. I start with a steak and then work my way through the venison, boar, elk, moose, e.t.c. Im gonna miss that place.

They are only in the state south of me so its a bit of a hike to get to it but it is so worth it. You get a red/green cup on your table and while it is green they keep going to your table with different meats until you flip the cup red. Then when you had your fill you turn it again and the meat parade walks back to your table. I make sure I skip a couple meals before I go so I can get my money's worth. I stopped at my butcher and got a t bone steak and eating it now, 28 ounce bad boy and its almost gone. Talking about food makes me hungry.
Damn that sounds amazing!
I'm now hungry :( Only ate an hour ago as well.....
