Testing for Fire Department
ad
Does anyone know if Fire Departments test for AAS? Everything I've found has been from people who say that they work for FD's and they don't test for it, but then again almost all those posts were from 5+ years ago, and a lot can change in 5 years.
Anyone on here have any relevant information on the subject? Maybe from a "friend" who works for a FD and has first/second hand knowledge about the subject?

AnonNo they do not test for AAS but they will hit you with a poly. With a little practice they're easy to beat. If you really want to beat one you can pm me and I'll give you a few tips
Much like the Military AAS use for firefighters is silently encouraged.
The initial tests are for narcotics, when they do a physical, they will also look at protein levels, blood sugar, usually a TB test and a short-arm inspection.. thats about it. The rest will be (usually) a EKG and (possibly, depending on age) a treadmill stress test (skip the Tren when thats coming up), As for a polygraph, they are NOT perfect. If you believe your answer there usually is not a problem.. in this case, you do not use steroids, you are practicing Test Replacement Therapy (just at a higher dose is all).. there are plenty of guys in fire that are running, as Novice points out, when its a matter of life or death, having that extra muscle can make the difference, whether its dragging someone out of danger, handling a charged hoseline by yourself, or grabbing a brother out of a doorway right before a fireball blows thru it.
Thanks for the info! I talked to a friend who works for the dept. and he informed me that they don't do any poly's, so that's a weight off my shoulders.
Yeah I can't see why they WOULDN'T want you to be using AAS? The extra strength would only be beneficial to your job performance.
AnonThey should encourage it. Shit I want the fireman that has to carry me or his brother out of a flaming building to be strong as an ox !
That's kind of what I was assuming. They're more concerned with recreational drugs.
I don't think that a poly is something to worry about though. I've read through all the hiring packet, drug test, background check, physical, oral interviews but nothing about a poly. From my experience with police departments if they are going to give one it is usually mentioned up front.
ya not all cities do a polygraph, its just another tool in the toolbox for cities to weed out recruits. Sadly, when cities do utilize the poly they usually cut alot of people.
Avocado13 Beat me to it. Ive never heard of a fire dept testing for AAS during their medicals or drug tests, but it is a very common question during their polygraph testing phase. In most cases(for fire, ems, police) AAS is considered "Hard drug" use, and depending on the city your testing for, hard drug use usually disqualifies you from the recruitment. Alot of cities in north america stick to the 3 yrs clean rule.
I have two family members in the fire service and from my understanding AAS is not included in the drug test. However, there is always the polygraph/psych test.
X2 ! Several friends clearly used...accepted in. No hard drugs or weed.
Send a friend request to firemanweigs Im sure he can tell you.
