So, what do you do
ad
So ever since I quit drinking and partying it feels like my social life went right out the window. Just like every Saturday night I'm at home playing xbox and hanging out with my wife, now that's not to bad for me cause fortunetly my wife is cool as hell, but when I look back, it's kind of sad that all my social time was spent at bars and clubs. The only time we really get out is work and the gym. So I'm just trying to get a feel of if anyone else spends their weekends as bored as I do, or are you able to manage partying and such on top of all your training?

All the time , I dont know what weekends are ,.I do not miss the bars , clubs or get together where there is nothing but shit talking and alcohol flowing , I run my bussiness (masonry) and I come home , and my gym is in basement so I workout home , I dont wait in a fegular dayn for a check , so I couldnt tell you what a friday is and I like it , more weights , more yardwork , more bed time ::)) you will get use to it
Bro invite them to your house and put some steak, lamb and chicken on the grill. You can have a beer or two it won't kill you either. I have kids so, my time is spent at monkey joes, Chucky cheese, jumparoos or random birthday partys. I do go to resturants and raw bars and meet friends there and still able to keep my diet. You don't have to be a stay at home bum, just find like minded people to hang with.
SC and I are in the same boat... We would hit up strip clubs, local bars and hangouts... We had a blast but knew deep down it wasn't good for gains. Once the idea of competing entered the picture it was without a doubt a no no on the partying and drinking... It did seem like our social life went south so we decided to find people just like us... People meal prepping, counting macros and working out everyday...even on the weekends. We found that surrounding yourself with like minded people will not only give you more motivation but it will insure to you and your wife that you're social life didn't end it just changed.
Yea, that life was fun but very detrimental to what we are busting our ass for day in and day out.... I used to hang around with my buds who trained with me, but I recently relocated for work and I have yet to see one like minded person... Kinda up shit creek with no paddle, but thank god for my wife, she is almost more dedicated than I am, she's my motivation
You'll find them... Give it time. Also, having your wife as your motivation will only made your marriage stronger. SC and I have trained together for three years... We know the drive it takes and when you're at our breaking point. It's funny because I know guys who would love to have a woman like yours. Once you decide to take the road paved with work and dedication, you won't have many people dying to come over and eat clean.. Or willing to understand your one cheat meal but I promise you they'll wish they looked as good as you do come beach time..
Yea I'm really lucky to have such a kick ass wife, it's nice to have someone to go through the suck with, but then comes summer and the beach is down the road... We will be turning heads all day ( not that we do this to turn heads) but it's still a perk. But in the end, it's my choice to live this life and be 100% with it, so I know I gotta accept some of the lack of social life... Etc
ray3801Start a poker night with your friends. We do it once a week and rotate who hosts it. Eat a good meal then play poker for a few hours with your boys. We donit on wed. Night so most of us dont drink....just good food, good friends, and plenty of crazy stories. you something to look forward to each week.
Sweet bro. Poker is tuesday nights at my place
AnonWe all bored, why you think we all up in here bruv
I go to the gym, eat, fuck my girl, and sleep.
Lmao! so eloquent
Im like you gave up that bar scene just train and work! Then just like you I turn on the ps4 and play and rage at cod lol!!But fall is coming and then it will be time to hit the woods and swamps and match wits with the deer! After looking back at my bar days they were just like those empty beer bottles Empty with nothing to show for it!So keep your head up bro !
I just wanted to let everyone know I wasn't intending on this post to sound like I'm on the fence about partying and what not. That's something that my mind is made up on. I know there are plenty of things to do to that doesn't include drinking and what not, I was just trying to explain how boring it seems to be at times, due to how often I used to party and go out. I apologize if I was misleading or sounding incompetent.
Get out doors and do something.....problem solved!
Brother dont take this the wrong way but for myself i grew the hell up.Remember these three things.#1jails.....#2institutions.......#3death......
I danced with #3 on several occasions, except for one time and it brought me straight to #1.
I learned my lesson and gave up all those things many years ago my friend.
"experience my friend is a Dear Teacher, and only a fool learns from no other."
I hear ya man, I'm quite the same, I too had to grow up. I danced with all the wrong things and almost landed my self in a world of hurt several times. I wasn't intending to make the post sound as if I couldn't decide if I was gunna party or not, I've been clean and sober for 8 months now and I'll never go back to it.
Manage partying?? What does that even mean?
Look out your window. Reality is better than the "virtual reality" found in your XBox. Seriously, the 3D rendering is out of this world!
Take a walk, take a hike, climb a mountain, shoot a gun, kayak, go boating, float the river, train a dog, restore a car, build something, date your wife, go on a picnic, make a kid, camp, explore part of your state you haven't been before, learn to play the guitar.
There isn't enough weekend in my weekend. I have fun and never touch a drop or see a pub
Well I know there are guys out there who hit the gym all weak, claim to be all about that life. But then spend all weekend boozed up. I know for me the two don't and can't mix. But as far as going out, we go out to eat, go shooting, walk the dogs and what not. But it really seems like the whole social aspect of it, hanging out with friends has kind of gone out the window, because during the week all we have time for is work and gym, then comes the weekend and everyone we call friends just wants to go drink, kinda seems as when I made the choice to go sober they distanced them selfs, but in the end I have all I really need. But wasn't trying to make it seem as if I can't decide how to live, sorry if I came off that way
I tried to do both when I first started training. It's impossible you won't make any progress. I don't really miss it at all anymore. Do I get bored some time? Ya a little but I know plenty of girls who also don't like to go out an get wasted every weekend. There's other shit you can do that doesn't involve alcohol, I think lol. I usually just go out to eat an go to redbox or watch netflix but depending on where you live there might be other stuff to do. I live in basically a college town so if you don't like to party all the time you're kinda fucked.
if partying was you thing then I can imagine it's tough to just drop it. It's like me a soda and crappy food, I fuckkng love it I struggle to stay away from all the delicious stuff. Are you an ex addict/alcoholic? If so then ya stay away, but if not going out once a week and having a few drinks is not gonna be detrimental to your gains. You should wake up feeling fine the next day. It's when you go out an stay up all night drinking wake up at 3 the next day with a massive hangouver eat like crap all day then do it again. I'll go out a have maybe 2 drinks tops sometimes but you won't catch me at a crowded college bar/party or club. Just not my thing anymore. I'm pretty content staying in with some sexy girl but sometimes I even need to get out. But disregard that if you're a recovering alcoholic.
I think I was right on the verge of being a full blown alcoholic. I was pretty bad, but I've been completely sober for 8 months now. Don't even really miss it to be honest. But yea we watch a lot of netflix in our house
Speaking of Netflix...
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=R6af-seN8ew
He can "make a sex tape and put it on Netflix." Hahaha. The song cracks me up everytime I hear it.
I don't know bro but I found a girl I can do everything with.. we both act like complete fools anywhere we go while looking great and feeling even better.. we are so stoked and can talk about everything... we share the same friends and have the same interests.. I am truly blessed!! My good karma I feel has really paid off.. we both party mildly together and that is enough, we have plenty of great friends together and a beautiful dog that we walk all over the place... and what sold me on the beginning of all this was what she said... "I want to build up my leg muscles, I love to workout and squat, and I believe in eating right and training right will get you where you need to be" SOLD.. good luck brother, and pm me if you ever need some positivity in your life!!
You can take your wife out to dinner and a movie. Take her bowling. Go out and play mini golf with her. If she is cool as hell like you say she is any of those goofy little activities will be a blast for you two. Just because you are not an alcoholic anymore or an addict doesn't mean you can't have fun.
I take my wife out every chance I get. Which is not very often wth my job and 5 kids but I cherish every minute each time I get the chance.
I will say eroids consumes a lot of my time haha
Bro I'm 27 and I'm a recovering drunk and addict..I know what u mean..but the longer you don't do it the easier it becomes and you fall into other routines that you find urself enjoying..I hit the beach,ADDICTED to EROIDS this cause I'm always on this damn site...I don't know bro, my life was the bars and partying but looking at it now all I did was beat the shit out of my body for all those years and don't want to go back to that lifestyle..I go get coffee, hit the beach, go hiking, hunting, gun shows, craft shows with my grandmother (kinda boring I won't lie) but u see what I saying..
I like that!!
Yea man, I hear ya on the drinking and addiction, I got deep in to that lifestyle to young, and luckily I got out at a young age, but I messed a lot up in that short time. But I do try to get out, me and the wife try to go shooting at the range a lot, I mean we arnt bums, I'm just reflecting on how consumed by that life I was, kinda makes me ashamed.
I was not living the best lifestyle that's for sure..I screwed up a lot of good things cause of getting drunk and high..now I actually can enjoy life without being foggy constantly or feeling sick everyday cause I didn't have my pills..I'm still learning how to live like a normal person.I do a lot of a.a meetings and events and it takes up a lot of my time too.
Yea man, I almost lost my family, friends. Counseling is what helped me the most. Made me feel kinda week at the time, but I'm better for it... I might be bored but I'm healthy and life is good.
You're 25 bro, life ain't over yet. When you say wife are you married or just a "wifey"? Any kids, mortgage, never ending bills?. My party ended 3 years ago when my daughter was born. I'm on 9th hour of an 18ot shift to pay the bills. Enjoy life a bit, training and all that jazz will fall into a schedule. What could you be looking back on at your age? You look any more years back you'll be a sperm lol. Just enjoy life
Yea I'm married, no kids yet beside 2 dogs. I got the car payments and what seem to be never ending bills, but they are manageable.. We both have good jobs, long hours at times but it allows us to live comfortable. But as far as looking back, I've been through a lot of crap in 25 years, not going for the whole pity me crap, but I like to think I've been around the block haha I feel old as shit. But I get ya, and I agree life is to short to not enjoy it
Bored is a state of mind ...
Partying ? that's what I did when I was single.... in my 20's... it doesn't go with training .. it is diametrically opposed to training, it makes you flat, kills your pumps, and adds calories that are quite frankly useless unless you are trying to get fat.
Why can't I plus 1 this!? It's all true. The flat feeling lasts much longer then the day after drinking too for me.
Yea, I was training and still drinking, wasn't getting any results. Then it came down to me having to stop drinking, and my body has never felt healthier and the gains have been quite nice
