Role Call
ad
Pcushion here just wanted to do a quick role call to see who is spending their Saturday night in the gym. It’s always dead on the weekends at night. This is when I get the most peace.

PcushionAnd yet again another Saturday night in the gym. I swear this shit keeps me sane.
jayiskDave Tate sums it up and calls it "Into the Void."
Where will training it is the only time you are truly free in life from all the bullshit and stress and forget about everything.
its the extended version so people that are truly passionate about training will understand. if not you will have know idea what he is talking about.
and again training is the only thing that keeps me from killing someone or getting high or drunk. And with what i am going through now in life maybe the only thing keeping me from ending mine. As i have nothing holding me together at the moment and am tired of trying to deal with my emotions being all over the place 24/7.

Hey dude I don't wanna see you talking like this :( Those pre-workout injects will be landing soon and then you'll be rockin!
jayiskmate i really hope things change soon..., its getting to be too much.
PcushionAcceptance is the key brother. You have to accept what you can’t change; what’s done is done. Then accept the challenge to change what’s not done and sealed.
“Sometimes god will take you through hell just to get you to heaven.”
T.I.
Jay.. things always change.. Hang in there. I know joe sullivan would have a fit if he heard me say this but training is my therapy. it's the ONLY place nothing interferes, no worries, no stress, no problems.. nothing. just me and the iron and the iron is never dishonest, it never lies. it knows no fears no emotion .... it just is. it will always tell me the truth no matter what.
Just left the gym and waiting for Panda Express to pack up my chicken and rice
PcushionMan I eat the shit out Panda Express. Chicken and rice as well.
You seem like the kind of guy that would really benefit from having a home gym also mate as I know how dedicated you are. It cuts out so much time travelling to and from/parking etc and messing about. You just get your shake made and in the fridge then get down to it, when you need a good rest stick the T.V on for 20 minutes in the lounge and get some good rest before the big final sets.
That sounds amazing
PcushionI would love one but love and afford are two separate things. It will happen before it’s all over with though.
2x I love my home gym. I’m sad when I have to go to a public one now
They opened a planet fitness the next town over for 10 bucks a month so my gym is always empty now I pay 50 a month but it’s 100% worth it to me
PcushionI got kicked out of a planet fitness for having an aggressive physique. No I am not kidding
lol... the chick at the planet fitness gave me a tour and then asked if I wanted to book the personal trainer.. I asked her 'do I look like I need help?'
LOL.
That’s why planet fitness sucks. They act like they are a non judgmental place when they are the most judgmental gym on earth. If you walk into my gym where And you are skinny you get the same respect as everybody else. People are just happy that you are trying to improve yourself.
PcushionThey don’t want me and I prob can use them.... so I guess we are on the same page with each other
jayiskI had no idea what Planet fitness was yrs ago. they were opening one in my town and had a pre-sale. All i saw was cardio equipment and some smith machines.
i asked the staff were all the weights are. He said "you look like you workout. This prob. wouldnt be a good gym for you."
I said on its a girls gym then. i let my wife know. then didnt even open yet...lol
In all honesty I bet its a very lucrative business model they have going there - A lot of people are intimidated by big guys and won't go just for that reason. I bet they make much more money being more of a fitness gym and attracting those clientele - In fact it looks like Golds is going that way also at Venice Beach as I was watching a video earlier of Eddie & Brian bashing it Lol
PcushionMan my gym is a big ass warehouse. It’s smells like feet and sweat. Chalk is all over the place. The do not have one smith machine and you are guaranteed to catch a foot fungus if you shower without shoes. It’s ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. We slams plates people yell and scream and the big dudes are a staple for advice. It’s 24 hours a day and I swear the monsters come out at night. The biggest guys in the place can be found between 3-6 a.m.
jayisk"The biggest guys in the place can be found between 3-6 a.m."
Trensomnia brings them out..,lol
thats the type of gym that the atmosphere helps get you bigger and stronger.
PcushionYour exactly right places like my gym are where big gains can be made if your humble and train right. They even provide chains to hang off your neck or the barbell. People are intimidated by it especially beginners and I can see why, there is more abnormal than normal, but I said fuck it and paid my membership. I had been going for about a week and saw this guy every single day that had and still has lats for fucking days. I finally gathered up the courage stopped him in between sets and asked how his back got so fucking big. Dude looked at me and said hold on one minute. He got up went to the locker room came back with a gym bag told me to have a seat at one of the picnic tables in the front of the gym. He proceeded to open up the gym bag (which I now know as a meal bag) and pulled out two Tupperware containers. Dude said “you want to get big?” Sit down and eat with me. Not only will I tell you how I will show you... That guy is still here 6 days a week. The turn over rate isn’t very big and new members aren’t very common but we all know each other first name bc it’s been predominantly the same faces for 12 years I have been there. Some guys drive over an hour to train here. If you ask why they all say bc there is no gym like it. They don’t offer personal training and they don’t sell protein shakes up front. They offer a time machine into the past before gyms where a popularity convention and a place to take selfies.
that's a pretty kick ass story.... wish there was something like that around here...
Sounds like an Awesome place to train man - I'm assuming by the way you describe it, it seems to be fairly well known to the world? So did he give you any special tips on how to cram in loads of food then as I'm guessing thats what he was ultimately talking about?
PcushionThe gym isn't well known to my knowledge. It was opened in the early 60’s in and old Cotten processing building. The same family has owned it since it opened. Yeah he actually did. He told me it was more important to keep a steady supply of food coming in than it was have set meals aka if you can’t finish a meal put it down and go back to it in 30 minutes or slowly pick away at every meal until they are gone even if I am picking up a fork or spoon every thirty minutes. I was told to not be boring with my food make sure to swap it up and have fun. He was the one who gave me my protein shake recipe of heavy creamer, egg whites and ovaltine. Finally he said not to worry about sauces or toppings at the moment. He said put whatever I can on my food to get it down. The food does you know good if you can’t eat it. His advice wasn’t on how to show prep it was solely how to get big. I didn’t know anything at the time and was super grateful that the first thing I learned about bodybuilding wasn’t steroids or the gym. I was the importance of food!

jayiskThe issue with "diet/nutritional intake" that still remains is too many trying to just follow what Pro BB are doing. That is completely different then what their needs are.
Plus you have only one life to live. Food should be enjoyed. You can still eat nutritional food and enjoy food and not eat the same bland shit everyday of the yr.
I agree ...
Completely agree mate, anything that makes dense nutritional food more interesting and palatable is all that matters unless you are about to step onstage. Not detracting at all from what Cushion has said as its all very good and true stuff!
jayiskwhere i am in the states most commercial gyms aren't pack with big dudes or large BB types. Seems its switched to trying to be smaller. More fitness type builds.
And the business model messed up my commercial gym because they lowered the monthly rate to try and keep up with planet fatness. now they have a shitter crowd of members and pure idiots. I would have rather paid the extra money..,which wasnt much.., and kept the long time respectable members that switch to a different gym cause of the new cheap crowd.
if i can ever stay healthy during the colder months and not have to miss the gym so much i would end up switching to a proper PL gym.
I’ve never been in one. I have a free membership there because of my job, but still...
Anything good there other than cardio equipment?
PcushionI really couldn’t tell you brother I wasn’t in there 5 minutes. I paid to go for the day. Went to change and scoped the dumbbells out, I remember they stopped at 70 wtf!!!! I had no sooner sat down when the assistant manger walked over and asked to speak to me privately. We stepped of to the side and she said that I needed to leave bc and I quote “ I had an intimidating physique...” I asked if she was serious she proceed to say yes and apologized she offered me a free muscle milk which I declined bc I don’t drink that crap and refunded my money. Found a little number in a strip mall and the gladly accepted my business.
I train early morning. I’m usually watching Unsolved Mystery’s or Gillian’s Island reruns by that time. MaryAnne was fine af...
PcushionLol.
??? You prefer Ginger?
PcushionI like them all brother. White, black, Latino, Asian, north, south, east, west, blonde hair, dark hair, red hair, green hair, blue hair, I have not and will not ever discriminate when it comes to beautiful women.
jayiski think after being stuck on that dam island so long..anyone would be fair game. gay for the stay prison rule allowed in this extreme circumstance....lol
Present
I go around midday. Mainly because Filipino eat lunch at Noon and the gym is completely empty, as are the roads - true. Everyone here religiously stops everything to eat between 11.30 - 1.30. Many businesses close down for that period of time. Best time to ride and train. No wankers sitting on equipment checking their FB.
PcushionMy sister studied in Spain and said the same thing. In the late afternoon everything closes down so everyone can go home and relax and everything opens up again in the evening.
Yes, I was there in the 70's and found that the place closes down from around 2pm until 5pm - but the upside was the cafes and bars were open until the early morning.
That's when they all have their Sangria isn't it Lol Then the shops etc open again later on. My assumption has always been thats why you see some EU sources respond at odd times and later on in the day also etc.
PcushionNever thought about that. Prob spot on.
Mornings for me, very few early morning lifters at my gym so it's the best time to go for that reason then my wife says evenings are her time, so that's a factor too.
I like late nights or first thing in the morning. Friday nights are the best ..everyone is out by 730 ....
I am a morning lifter
I have tried both early and late. Maybe it was in my head but I was always stronger in the evenings compared to mornings. I think a lot of it was nutrition
You are way stronger in the evenings as you've had a full day of carb loading and hydration compared to just a few hours worth if you train in the morning.
Saturday and Sunday morning are my two favorite days. I don't have the extra stress and timelines I do during the week.
