RIP Ganley

ad

The death of young Brazilian bodybuilder and influencer Gabriel Ganley (“Bbzinho”) at just 22 years old has reignited discussions about the dangerous extremes present in modern bodybuilding culture.

While the official cause of death has not been confirmed, early reports mentioned a possible hypoglycemic episode. Cases like this are a reminder that insulin is not a harmless shortcut for muscle growth. Used incorrectly, it can kill within minutes.

In bodybuilding circles, insulin is sometimes abused for its anabolic effects, often combined with steroids and extreme bulking protocols. The problem is that insulin directly controls blood sugar levels, and even a small mistake in dosage, timing, or food intake can lead to severe hypoglycemia, seizures, coma, or death.

A lot of young people online see influencers promoting massive physiques without understanding the chemical side behind them. What gets posted is usually the aesthetic — not the risks, panic attacks, blackouts, organ damage, or emergency hospital visits.

If there’s anything to learn from tragedies like this, it’s that performance-enhancing drugs are not “advanced supplements.” Insulin especially is one of the most dangerous substances being normalized in underground fitness culture. No physique is worth gambling your life over.
