Proper Etiquette when Contacting Vets, and Mods?
Hello ladies(Ha!) and gentlemen, your good n00b(ish) buddy GearofWar here with a topic that has been on my mind for a bit now. I'm hoping the answers YOU, the Vets, and Mods provide will serve as a guide to the young bucks of this site on the proper etiquette as it pertains to PM'ing, Friend Requesting, or contacting other respected members by any other means. So, without further ado I pose the question of What is the proper, polite, and considerate way to contact a Vet, or Mod when help is needed? Is it okay to just throw random FR's at anyone that catches your eye(no homo)? Is it okay to PM a Vet or a Mod a question without really ever having interacted, or at least introduced yourself first? I know that as a newer member who is fairly fresh to the gear scene I personally wouldn't feel right just PM'ing someone such as say, VIKING with "Yo, big dawg where can a nooka get caber from up in this piece?" I need a legit source and you're an experienced member that I figured I'd just use, hopefully get my answer, and never talk to again, let alone say 'Thank You'. That shit ain't cool in my book. And to the rest of the newer guys, If you pull that shit, knock it the fuck off. Now. You're giving the newer guys a bad name by being a douche canoe, asshat. What do the Vets and Mods(Tread, Viking, ED, Nitti, Irish, P, 7gothic, et al) think about this? What protocol should someone follow if they wanted to contact you? Sorry this is so long, but I fancy myself a considerate, and thoughtful novice who wants to respect the elders and do things the right way. Please discuss. -GoW

I think its good practice to take a little time to study shit out and then hit the vets with legitimate questions. I'm guilty of asking Tread and Vike for really stupid advice on a daily basis. They are always patient with me. I don't feel like I'm abusing the situation because I always include naked photos of myself with various barn yard animals. (That's how they like it.)
They are good dudes, as are most of the vets and are extremely helpful if you just ask.

We're all humans and we're all on this site to learn - we're the same. Some may have more experience than others, in much the same way that some have less experience than others. We're here to reduce the disparity between experienced members and novices so that we can all grow. I make sure I always approach people in the same way by which I would like to be approached and by doing so, you will find out pretty soon that this respectful method will yield you with results that exceed your expectations

Strange this post has popped this week... i will explain why..
Some of the guys that i respect on here have put posts up lately screaming for noobies or anyone for that matter to add stats to thier profiles and also give as much advice when asking for info to make life easier and for the guys to give custom info instead of wasting half the thread to and froeing asking for stats etc.
What i have choosen to do lately to stand by these guys in my little way is to check all FRs that i get and i get alot trust me.. and if NO STATS are listed in the profile the FR is rejected ..if little things like this cant be done i cant be assed giving these people my time.
On the whole i can say that 99% of people i deal with in PM are courtious and always return with a "thankyou" thats fine by me because i know i can sometimes be a harsh bastard but always try to show mutual respect.. and the only reason i can get harsh is passion for my lifestyle and i dont suffer fools gladly.
So i am pretty easy going unlike tread who insists on naked pictures of wives and girlfriends before he will even type a single letter lol.... others like ED demand fouled underwear sent to his PO box... now that shit is freaky and gives me the jitters... makes me glad we are 10,000 miles apart lmfao!
