Now this is when you know you're STRONG
ad
Had to share this with you. So, in my gym there's a guy I've seen coming in and out for four years or so. Probably 5ft6, 160lbs ish, but most significantly I always guessed he was early to mid sixties in terms of age. Trains five days per week, never misses a day EVER, good physique for a guy half his age.
Nice fella, always says "hi, how are you etc". This morning I see the guy bench pressing 3 plates per side, I spot for him and drives out five reps. I was impressed. I went behind the counter and checked his details on the screen, the guy is seventy one years old!!!!!
71 pressing 140kg! What????? - That, my friends, is a STRONG boy!

We call that "old man strength". Reminds me of my great grandfather, in his 90's his handshake could still put me to the floor.
Thanks for sharing Cat, inspiring my friend!
RustyhookerThat's goals we can all hope for!!
So him this morning pressing 8 plates per side on the leg press for sets of 15. The man is a machine. I love the gym, if I'm honest it's the only social place I truly belong. But I can't see myself putting myself through what he does at that age.
RustyhookerAs we wake up each day pushing hard and nearing his age. Lol! But ya, things may change drastically by then.
That's just the carb deficit talking cat.
I'm one hell of a grumpy bastard already. Be worth it when I can see stage ready at 265lbs+. These boys are going to get a fright this year
DeathstrokeThats awesome! At my gym the guys in there early 50's to me are like the titans lol. it is both humbling and inspirational. 70yo hit 3plates is more than impressive its like please bestow your wisdom upon me oh wise one lol!
I use to work with an older fella who was like that. Very rigorous and intense job lifting parts in upwards of 300 lbs or more at times. This guy instead of using an overhead crane would grab it and pick it up like a 25lb plate and just place it where ever it needed to be......I'm still in shock and this was 15 years ago
Steveb410 RAW bench press at 154lb. 3plates is good but 4 is better.

Yeah I watched that video, that's insane! If he could pull that into a competition legal lift that would be the world record at 165! The world record raw is 390 I believe last time I checked.
What is so crazy to me is you can't tell it from his size or appearance at all.
Damn. That is crazy impressive. Still benching over 300 in his 70's, especially at that body weight..
Wow, pressing double you're body weight is pretty respectable for anyone as a 1rm but for 5 my god. At 71 years old that's just insane. In all honestly I don't think I'll ever be able to bench 440lbs even for 1rm let alone for 5, Even if my shoulders weren't torn up I still don't know if Id ever hit thst those kinda numbers. Will see tho I got a lot of time left to make it happen.
I have so much respect for anybody that age still smashing the gym, but really SMASHING it, what a legend.
That's nonsense Iron!!! You're in your mid 20's....I say take as much Tren as you need for as long as you need to hit those numbers and don't worry about your shoulders as you will have all the time in the world to heal in your 40's.
*****Sarcasm Disclaimer*****
There is something about those old guys that have been lifting 50 years! They just have that deep mature muscle and their minds are strong as well. I look at 3 plates and my 5th lift is determined by how well my first one goes! You know the feeling.....you unrack it and then take a split second to determine how easy it is going to go before you slowly go bat to chest and explode back into the lift. Thinking to yourself, "That wasn't so bad!" you do the other 4 lifts. If my first lift is weak I know the rest will be as well!
These old guys that have been lifting for so long look at 315 like it will go up just as easy as 225 or 135!
The first couple of reps I honestly think we're easier for him than they would have been for me. Sure he can't grind out the numbers of reps I can at that weight, but they really were easy for him. Whilst the endurance isn't there, the raw strength is amazing.
Wow.
I met a gent in Thailand who owned a gym.
Old white dude, didn't speak English.
He must have been 70, he was ripped.
We asked him
"have you ever heard of deca? "
He frowned like he was mad.
Then he bends over and pulls the shit right out from under the counter. And smiles....
We go crazy, we said
" do you have any dbol"?
Again he looks at us like we grouped his daughter...
Then he spins, opens a cabinet and he has all the dbol!!
My first source! I hope I'm jacked sitting alone in my own gym in Thailand someday....
Wow that extremely impressive
There is no doubt in my mind that I am in fact an utter weakling in comparison.
Probably why he looks ten years younger!
