Men and Yoga
ad
Serious question. Are there any guys here that do yoga? I'm seriously considering taking it up due to my back. One thing I'm realizing is I need more stability in my lower back. I've been having rough times with it lately. It's something I will always deal with but just looking to try new things and wondering if anyone thinks yoga is a good idea?
Not sure why but I think I'd feel a little weird as a guy doing yoga. lol

Thanks again everyone! I signed up for a "gentle beginners" class and even better got my wife to try it with me. I'm looking forward to it. It will be nice for us to be able to do something like this together. Anything it takes to keep her motivated on her weight loss/fitness goals.
Yoga will increase flexibility, strength, endurance for muscle fatigue as body control. It will also instruct you on proper breathing techniques so that you can maximize the oxygen for greater stamina. There are different kinds of yoga but if you haven't tried it I suggest you give it a go. I don't fear how it makes me look as long as it makes me better
Plus you can apply those slow breathing techniques during sex, to last longer.
Thanks everyone! I am going to look into it more. I think my gym offers it.
bigwillydog just call it stretch classes! that's what yoga is right, I mean basicly? and yes I take stretch classes to. im no expert and im sure some will come along and say that but shit looks like stretch class to me.
Lol that works. So should I wear stretch pants? Lol
bigwillyyeaaaa like flash dance,,,,,,what a feeling,lol
I have 2 herniated discs, L5 and L7, I tried everything to help relieve pain, surgery I won't do, Tried out bikram yoga, best decision I ever made.
Same here. I have 3 bulging discs. Accelerated disc degeneration due to trauma. I've had surgery, I've had sciatica. I've had major foot drop. I've recovered but I still have times where my back just goes into "fuck you" mode. Lately it's been happening more. I think between the weather, the growth from cycle and slacking on core stability has caught up to me.
I'm trying it now. It's different. Ill say that much. Lol. I'm not very flexible and I went to my first session last week.
Whatever floats on your boat. No one should make fun of it IMO. I've seing more and more guys joining the body pump classes or pilates, not sure if is because they like it, they intimidadted by the big dudes and the free weights or they simply wanna be surrounded by girls. Go for it and try it
I feel like yoga makes one a different kind of strong...it strengthens everything joints ligaments bones...the mind(biggest one)
Plus like said below your soar the next day which mean muscle fiber tears! Ones that you wouldn't tear lifting weights
Go for it bro!
Do it for a month, and I get you feel better overall
Hit my boy Bigbmaj up, he's all about yoga.
Obama BlowsYoga pisses me off cuz I have such poor balance. But I did really enjoy the "X Stretch" (part of the P90X program).
But I have 2 words for you that should make you wanna join a yoga class... YOGA PANTS ;)
I think yoga will be good on your hamstrings which will be good for your lower back.
I went a few years back while dating this yogi chick...i am very very flexible and let me tell you this the next day soreness came that night. My rib cage felt like it got hit by a baseball bat from all of the stretches and poses. It was fantastic...i really thought it was gonna be bullshit easy...so after 50 mins and a gallon of sweat i had a respect for the yoga folks...also btw yoga pants should be illegal
I would love to if our yoga instructor was better at it and time didn't conflict with my current workout.
Dude I've been doing yoga for years and I swear by it!!!! I feel so much better and I think it's really cut down on my injuries cause I'm more flexable
