How do you Balance life as a bodybuilder?

ad

I think myself, like perhaps many members here have some obsessive personality qualities. The problem is, I get burnt out after awhile... for the longest time I was weighing out food, then felt neurotic. I'd always avoid drinnking booze, skimp on social events due to eating clean, and it becomes such an all or nothing event.

Either I'm eating clean, lifting, getting up early, and just saying no to most social events or I go on the other end

become the life of the party, socializing, meeting up with ladies, drinking,

I am working on breaking this and find the right formula that works for me.

I know the answer is balance? But specifically, how do you balance, I know some guys here are incredibly dedicated and may avoid many events but I feel if I do so I got bogged down and feel like I don't get to take advantage of looking and feeling great...just work on working and feeling great.

Anyway any tips, thoughts or advice all greatly appreciated. Cheers

It's hard to balance bro. Every time I go out on the weekends, which has been about once in the last 3 months I feel like I wasted a workout. If I go out at 9 o'clock I miss my last two meals, which meals I missed my caloric goal and macro goals. And then if I do end up drinking I feel like shit the next day which meals my eating is off the next day not to mention the effects of alcohol on muscle growth. But it doesn't really bother me that much, I don't even like drinking anymore. I would much rather have some sexy girl come over and get some cardio in by fucking her brains out. So if going out and partying is something you really like do to then do it . Life's to short to just stay in everynight if going out is something that you enjoy. Luckily I don't miss it at all and i would rather stay.

I would imagine how balanced your life is, is inversely proportional to your physique. The better your physique, the less balanced your life would have to be.

Choose a goal physique that corresponds to the amount of socializing you're willing to compromise. Else you'll find yourself wanting. You can't set your goal to be mr O and think you can live anything that resembles a normal life. Whereas you could aim for a fitness model physique whilst partying every weekend, provided you're putting in the time on weekdays training, cardio and diet wise.

It's like the first law of thermodynamics, the amount of heat added to the system (the level of physique you produce) is equivalent to the amount of energy lost by the system due to work done (the amount of socializing forgone for added gym time and eating clean). Of course taking into account the efficiency of the heating process (in bodybuilding terms, genetics, gear etc).

This applies to how far you want to go with anything in life. The higher up the ladder you want to be, the more you will have to sacrifice to get there. It's law, there's no way around it!

I'm not going to devote my entire life to my physique or this sport, it's something I do because I enjoy it, so I don't strive to be a nazi when it comes to weighing food or depriving my self of what I like.

I have other things going on in my life and lifting is only a facet of me. I still train hard and eat decent most of the time but if you want to be the best you will have to give up a lot, am I am not willing to give up everything to win a few trophys.

Bin everybody and everything around you that brings negativity to your planned goals..... trust no one and fully believe in yourself, stay highly focused and motivated 24/7.... if something gets in your way destroy it or work around it.

Finally............. NEVER say die.. pinning and training is the fun easy part, sticking to heavy or light diets is the hardest thing in this game........ too many people class their-selves as bodybuilders but are the complete opposite because they have never done the "eating" which separates the real deal guys from the weekend wannabees ..... weak people will drag you down and hold back gains!.... bin these fuckers TODAY and tomorrow start to be the best you can ever be.

BALANCE!..... there is no such thing, if you want to be the champ you must become a self-centred asshole............ re-gain said BALANCE when the trophies are bursting the cabinet doors off!.

Thats the way i did and still do things re-bodybuilding.... it is NOT a team sport!... it is an individual thing so you must drag out the champion inside.

You are the master of your own destiny.............. be the best you be all the time not just sometimes.

I'm assuming that your not married and/or kids? If not, get married /kids and your social life drinking, partying and other women will be out the window. (Lmfao)You will be stuck going to the gym, just to get away from the madness! (Jk, its not that bad). The key is to spend your off time with like minded people, with the same goals as you. When u find this "balance", let me know the recipe. Haha

Not married, and no kids! I have one girl I've been eyeing but alas she lives far, right now life is all about work and staying healthy, lifting, and doing outdoor stuff.

I think that's a very good point winning, I have some very good friends that are good people and our personalities mesh well...but we have very different goals...if anything he's always knocking me lifting.

I surround myself with people that share the same goals. An example of this is my Mma buddy's or other Bbers, they can relate to say a cut or bulk. They don't drink or smoke and if we do anything its fitness or clean fun related. My partying days are over unfortunately, im too old for that, but these types of people will keep you intact with your goals. Just an option brother. ;)

As a serious bodybuilder bodybuilding out weighs all that's why I consider it a hobby don't plan cheat meals or days off life happens and you may eat a meal not on your diet every once in a while or youmay take a day off from the gym and ride bikes with your kids. let life happen enjoy it enjoy your acomplisments in the gym and set your personal priorities where you need them in your life bro
