Group for recovering alcoholics and addicts like me
Sitting at work.bored as fck..and I was thinking about all the people out there that will die this year from alcoholism or addiction just because they were to scared to seek help.. I am a recovering drug addict, well actually anything that makes me feel good addict to be more specific.. I do attend A.A and N.A meetings but that is not what this group is about..This group is for whoever is stressed the fck out with life or simply want to vent..I'd much rather sit here and bullshit with someone than them go out and die from using..cause trust me I have had many friends who have gone out to use one last time and we had to bury them the following week..I've had some people tell me that I'm not clean cause I use aas. well u know what, fck you ..I'm not knocking some old lady over for her purse for gear money. I'm on this site constantly and why not incorporate the two things that are most important to me in my life,( working out and staying sober) other than my family and my girl..too many of us die each day cause we feel we have no place or nobody to turn to, well I may not know none of you personally but I will sit and talk, because you're helping save my life too.. much love to all my eroids brothers (no homo)and sisters

I have a few years clean and sober.Researching aas helped me find a new way to live.
How bout a interest group like advanced steroid cycles and the guys who smoke pot and shit.
I guess you don't spend much time in the Group section of Eroids? http://www.eroids.com/og/herb-lounge
Ya I have nothing in common with those ones .not yet anyways..I'll start smoking pot and run tren so I can join in lol
I think this group is a good idea. I took heroin and cocain for many years. I finished this bullshit round about 11 years ago. So i know it's a hard way to stay straight.
Instead of a.new group I'm just going to join the one below me that Benny provided the link for..I didn't know it existed till he told me..but it is pretty cool
Benny BlancoToo late brother:

There are a bunch of us here. And I think it's silly when people say you're not clean if you're on roids. That's a personal decision. Next time you get pulled over, tell the cop your on roids and see if he makes you walk a straight line. People are silly
That's awesome they have that group..at least I got somewhere to go bs with fellow addicts
Benny BlancoYeah man, there's a lot of talk about pills and shit in there though. That has it's place, but this is a good post. Maybe it'll attract more like-minded members to the discussion.
I've been sober for many years now, I haven't had a drop of alcohol since 1999. I remember seeing a juicer at a meeting and being confused by it. I didn't blame him, it just made me think. It really is a personal decision. It took me several years to come to the conclusion that roids were different. I had a sponsor that would say "if you have to question whether it's using or not, you better not do it." So I waited until I got to a comfortable place mentally, and I don't question it anymore. It can be very frustrating to deal with those people though. I just shrug it off. It's my life. Fuck em if they don't understand.
Yea bro its cool when ppl get involved..helps everyone out...I'll definently be in noids group bullshitting w ppl now..I had no idea it existed..thx for posting that url up bro.
O that's cool..my phone only let's me scroll back so far so I didn't know one was made..least someone else had the idea for the group..ya I've gotten into a few arguments and they say well it involves needles..I say yea but I'm not searching for a vein lol
Congraratz on your recovery....I have been clean for 4 years....No desire 2 go back I have went through hell why go back....The cons do not outweigh the pro's my daughter and wife mean more 2 me then robbing you for a sack.....AA never worked for me and I don't buy a lot of the bs they spit out.....IMHO It is not a disease Cancer is a disease.... addiction is something we bring upon ourselves....All that does give an addict another excuse as 2 why they are a piece of shit....Im happy you beat it because 9/10 don't ....But if AA helps then more power to them for getting help =)

It is a disease because it is incurable! countless people have tried to go back out and use in moderation and they come back when everything has turned to shit. It really is that simple, when someone says disease it means that they understand its a lifelong journey and they cant control their drug or alcohol use....
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you....I was a junkie tweeker for about 8 years and It is an addiction yes I agree but 2 call it a disease is ridiculous...And I will add insulting to people with diseases....I guess we can call eating disorders a disease right since there is no cure...No simple put the damn fork down...Now of course drugs are harder Im watching my brother kill himself 2 this day but what I see is his choice to go out there and do drugs and until addicts can accept the fact that it is their choice at the end of the day....I didnt Lose my family because of drugs I fucking gave them up Drugs never took shit from me I gave everything freely in pursuit of those drugs It was my choice....This is a subject we may never see eye to eye But to each his own and if you suffer with anyone suffering I do pray they break free as well as my brother take care =)
There is no argument, you simply need to update your definition of the word "disease".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disease
Even in my lifetime some words have evolved in their meaning. Language evolves. Evolve with it. ;-)
For example:
marriage was:
(1) the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law
marriage now:
(1) the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law
(2) the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage
Truth
Part of me believes that it is a disease..its progressive.incurable.and fatal..but that macho part of me says that this is a game of wills and if I just try hard enough I can stop doing this shit to myself on sheer will power..I don't know bark, I go back and forth.. I go to my meetings and I see people go back out every day and sometimes I just think they were to weak to keep fighting for their life..I think everyday of what I will lose if I go back out, and to lose everything I've gained in sobriety for a few weeks of getting high just doesn't make sense anymore cause I'm the type of addict that will lose everything within a few weeks and I burn every bridge I have..partying used to be fun. Then life got unmanageable andnthen it became a necessary to function..fck all that
well each of us has our own journey to live. all I can tell you is that i tried sheer will power and after it kicked my ass I tried recovery and have been able to stay clean. keep going to meetings and talking about how you feel and at some point you will know which path to follow.
Just have a hard time living the steps daily like ur suppose to. The program works, I just can't conceive doing the meetings my entire life ..idk bro..its an everyday battle
youve worked the steps with a sponsor, out of the green and gold step working guide? cant say ive ever heard anyone confused about the disease after working the steps.
Noid, this guy needs a sponsor. It sounds like you've had your share of pigeons. Help him out.
I have one with 11 yrs..and a great support group..I just still fairly new to sobriety and question everything..
That brain will get you in trouble. Recovery is hard for intelligent people. Dummy up, it'll be easier.
Ya I can complicate the shitt out of anything..
I mean I know its a disease..but part of me wishes it was a mind over matter thing..took me 9 months to and finish step 4 and 5..but I sometimes feel like I never fully turned my will and my life over to the god of my understanding..I'm wanting to take my will back daily and do it my way, which I know will ultimately fail me in the end.
Benny BlancoThat's why they say "one day at a time". You don't need to think about the rest of your life, you're just supposed to think about today. Just keep doing the next right thing today, and time inevitably adds up.
Ya I got trouble with that concept sometimes.. I think way to far into the future to just live in today.
I wish I could throw a +1000 for this! I hate when people use that "its a disease" I always ask them, did something jumped from behind a dumpster in a dark ally and bite you and give you a infection? Answer is no everytime. Thats when I tell them its a choice YOU made nobody else
This is a short sighted argument. People aren't "bitten" by cancer. Last I checked, it's a disease. Alcoholism is hereditary. It's classified by the American Medical Association as a disease because it's chronic, progressive and fatal. I didn't choose to be homeless, jobless, friend-less, etc. You're entitled to your opinion, you're also wrong.
I understand your point and I to was homeless, jobless, and all that once before in my life as well. I grew up in a house with an "addicted" father and I have many friends and family who are addicted or dead from use and for a while I was right on side most of them but I chose not to be that way. Yes people are not bitten by cancer both my grandparents died from cancer and they didnt choose to catch cancer. Almost everyone who starts out with illicit substances it begins as innocent fun, its exciting, its new but then they choose to keep going thus it turns into an addiction. ......thats the choice
If I choose to get in a car, then I get in a wreck, did I choose the wreck? No. Same with drinking. People choose to drink, no one chooses to be an alcoholic.
Benny BlancoOver the years, I have to come to my own conclusion that there are two different types of addicts: those that stumble upon addiction through drinking, partying, and the like, and just get carried away. And those, like myself, who do it as a means of self medicating. I know addiction is a part of me because I can feel it everyday. It's a part if who I am. The other guys can seemingly just quit, maybe even drink casually in the future without problems. That's my opinion anyway because I've seen the difference.
Alright man I get it, not tryin to get in an argument so out of respect for the op, community and you ill decline from this......no worries brother
I was gonna say the same thing. Sorry if my typing had an attitude. I'm a little passionate about this.
I understand bro I am as well, I wont hold it against you man.
Yea the whole disease concept I believe is bullshit too..every time u fck up its just an excuse."I fcked up cause it was my disease"..get the fck out of here..I just like being around people trying the accomplish the same thing as I am..I don't kick it with the old friends and I just stay busy..using I never had a life bro, I was to busy killing myself to ever live. I just existed..now I actually enjoy life even tho I at work 12 hrs a day lol
Having money is really nice among many other things.
Its nice but I got no time to ever fckn spend it..
