Connors ego got the best of em. Love his passion but hate his ego. Ego is fine as long as your brains are bigger. Smaller faster guys cant stay in one spot and expect to out slug bigger guys. StevebConnor has more muscle mass than Nate. Nate is a true 155lbs fighter. Connors ounces were cutting Nate but they were not rocking him at all. Connor didn't have anything behind those punches.
No fairness required. Connor said he was his own weight class and realized he's not the champ in his own weight class.
They both weighed the same going in.
They weighed the same at weigh in 24 hours before the fight. I guarantee Diaz was 10-15lbs heavier for the fight. It was still a good fight tho. I just think Conor will do much better to stay at 155
Looking at the different body compositions, Diaz looks like a better fit for the lightweight division. But it's hard to say on a longer leaner guy like that.
I do think that the loss was good for McGregor, to me he seems like a guy who will learn from it and in the long run will be a much better fighter for it.
Hard to say though.
Hell of a fight Diaz just one hell of a street fighter that can take a punch and some nasty jiu-jitsu. Glad to see Conor take a loss like a champion no excuses no cry baby he took the loss like a man. Felt bad for Holly though the fight was hers if she could have just kept separation for another couple minutes

He got him in a submission. At the end of that fight Diazs face looked like raw Hamburger. Definitely wasn't a rousey Holm blowout or anything like that. An McGregor was humble in defeat which is what I had hoped , true champ status. I forsee a rematch in the future and it will be anybodys fight as this one was. Diaz just got the submission before McGregor got the knockout.
I don't think you'll see a Diaz/McG fight for a long time. At least not until they get past their prime. McG had a wake up call when he opened up full lightweight guns and realized it wasn't enough to knockout a bigger fighter. He was in trouble before the submission and Diaz got in his head once McG saw he wasn't hurting him with his big guns.
Diaz fought without a camp and was smoking weed on a beach in cabo two weeks prior. You get Diaz prepped for a fight like that and it will be Diaz every time.

Good fight though. The Irishman did handle the loss like a man and I think gained a little respect for weight divisions.
The way I look at it the guy is unlike anyone who cares about diaz. We're talking about a guy who's jumping rank after he blew through everyone in his weight class.....what is diaz doing? Not a he'll of alot. Both great fighters. That fight could've went either way all it takes is one good hit or one submission and it turned out to be the submission. To say diaz wasn't getting hurt makes me chuckle but alright. The ladies didn't tap because Holm let her pride get in the way lol and passed out. When your in a good choke your fucked. I don't see mcgregor running back to his division and sitting around and waiting for an opponent that would be going right in reverse. I think you'll see him again in this division. Just my opinion tho. Does irritate me tho for people to talk about a fighter with a career like mcgregor like he's a mediocre dude , I personally wouldn't fight him I'd get my ass beat and I carry much more muscle. The guy has accomplished more then any of us have in the ring. At the end of the day it was a damn good fight. But I don't think you'll see connor hang it up and go back with his tail between his legs. Doesn't make any sense money wise or anything. I guess we will see what the future brings.
Diaz took some hard hits and when I say not getting hurt.. It's all about perspective. Hell yes getting hit like that, sustains cuts etc hurts but from Connors perspective this was completely different than what he was used to. He's used to fighting guys that after taking a barrage like he dished out were done. Diaz, yeah that shit hurt but by no means was he done, and Connor saw that. It had to be incredibly frustrating for him when shit that he was normally destroying guys with wasn't destroying diaz and diaz kept coming. Diaz got into his head and beat him mentally and then beat him physically.
By no means am I taking credit away from Connors skill or accomplishment, you and I both know that to be on his level is practically immortal when compared to the average guy, unfortunately when faced with a tougher weight class and a guy who has a little more heart and 10x's the ground game...Connor just doesn't have the standout immortality that he did in the lighter weights. It's all relative.
Just like the couture/James Toney fight.
James Toney in my opinion is one of the greatest boxers of all time. He is a was mediocre ufc fighter compared to couture. Had couture fought tony in a boxing ring couture would have been destroyed as a mediocre boxer. No disrespect or taking away from the accomplishment just comparisons.

TronDiaz also rocked the hell out of him. Diaz has a lot of scar tissue so he cuts easily like Nick. Diaz has no training camp and 2 weeks notice. My hats off to the guy. I say we put them both in the ultimate fighter now as coaches..just for the entertainment. Then fight again. I have a feeling Conor is going to stick to featherweight now.
