Excuse my ignorgance. Is it easier to have products shipped in via Canada versus China or UK? Or is customs ...customs no matter where it is coming from? Was hoping it was a little more relaxed.(coming to states)

Risk wise I would think it's all about the same. It's quicker via Canada; my guess is because the points of entry are far less busy. Takes only a day at customs.
We have a large Asian population (personal shipping)as well as massive trade with Asia(business shipping). (Not to mention our European roots and trade) Our coastal points of entry probably has to handle tens of millions of parcels per day.
Packages I've gotten from Europe or Asia have been held up in customs for up to 2 weeks.
Let's assume that customs scans everything but only opens 10%. Your odds are the same no matter where they're coming from.

Communist or not, millions of Chinese products flow thru customs on a daily basis. Have you ever tried to buy something from the local store that wasn't made in China? So wouldn't a small care package from China have better chances going "unnoticed" amongst those millions of goods coming in? Canada has no where near the exports to the US compared to China. So from strictly a numbers aspect, I would think it would be easier for a package coming from China would not necessarily be overly scrutinized. But you make a good point. Was hoping someone might have some inside knowledge about the level of scrutiny of incoming packages, and if it varies country to country.
sgtstedankoWell, that's just my pers experiences in buying gear. I've been purchasing gear since 1994. I've gotten far far more customs letters from CHINA, than ANYWHERE else in the world. Some companies are very very good at shipping/seizure rates though, & I do, do business w/one of them that ships from China... I have no inside knowledge though : (
Well I appreciate you sharing your experiences, beats the Hell out of an opinion. So if you get a letter from customs, does that eliminate using that address for future purchases? Or can you continue to use an "outed" address?
