+ 1 Returning in Middle Age

ad

Hey hey -
Figured I’d reintroduce myself. I’ve resurrected my fitness journey after a nearly 10 year hiatus. During that time I was recovering from injury, including 2 lumbar back surgeries, and raising 3 young ones. Not quite in the best shape of my life (former collegiate volleyball and triathlete), but the past 14 months have been amazing getting back in shape. Being old/wiser has taught me much and have really focused me to prioritize and dial in my diet, workout routines, and overall focus.

Problem is I’m older, recover more slowly, and definitely don’t see the same ROI looking back at me in the mirror like it did in the younger years. Did a test only w do oral kick start cycle 10/11 years ago with the help found on these forums. Went great.

Currently 45 y/o, 5’-10”, 178lbs, 15-17% bf.
Planning out my next 12 months and open to a cycle or two to get me to my eventual goal of 185 and sub 10% bf. Is my time run out to achieve that? Thanks for any advice

I was in the same boat about 6/7 years ago. Except I was 34 6'2 @ 350. I've lost 100 lbs multiple times in my life between college football weight and a back injury. I really did struggle to lose until I got my blood work done. My test was basically non-existent and my E2 was jacked up. I ended up doing just a basic test E 500mg and I hopped on TREN ace for the last 8 weeks or so. I stayed on a cruiser dose of test afterwards. The weight literally Melted off. I got down to about 225 at my lightest and I was cranking them out like I was 14 again. I would keep it simple... run typical long estered test only. If you're not competing no reason for excessive sides or cholesterol changes. Maybe front load with some var or dbol if you want to get a jump on things. Just my humble opinion

Right Diet and dedicated exercise and a little testosterone at 45 will have in tip shape. Im not one on a steroid review site where everyone is doing steroids and going to tell you not to use steroids. Would be very hypocritical for me. If your goals remain at getting your BF% down you are on the right path.

You could definitely pull it together without the use of any assistance. The body remembers what it's capable of brother, even if you yourself couldn't see it.
I think what needs to be conveyed here is that you should kick start cold, just to get it going again. And should you feel that it's still what you want to do, I personally wouldn't go above a trt dose until you are in full swing again.
Like Ross was saying, once you get to roughly where you want to be what then? Because that's the crossroads where you would want to jump start a cycle and move into the next level. Maximize your natural ability as much as you can before you dive into the pool.
I just did the same myself a year ago. Almost 50 now, have been through 3 back surgeries myself, a bout with cancer, amongst other things, I get it. I was weak, wasn't healing well at all, it was discouraging but I knew it's what had to be done to move to the next level. I'm now in some of the best shape of my life and feel amazing! 50 going on 20 lol.
And yes absolutely gear will benefit you much more at your age than years prior. For sure! And that's overall quality of life as well! You are in better shape than many that come here just getting back into it. At least you aren't super overweight brother. Know what I mean?
Pick up that weight and drive forward brother! You got this! And you already know, you got a whole forum of like minded ppl here to help you through. You got this

This sounds like a great prospect to adding alittle something something. Planning is great idea
Just make sure to keep up a good gym routine and focus on diet before and DEFINITELY during your new cycle
I cant wait to see the results and. And i bet. Me being alittle older than you. Know how much after a certain age TEST can make us feel young again even in moderate dosages GOODLUCK

Thanks for the encouragement!
While this may all seem achievable natural, I guess I’m feeling like since I didn’t abuse anything in my younger years, now may be a good time to help accelerate progress to enjoy the benefits in my late 40’s. I’ve been patient during the last 14 months letting my body tell me what it can handle.

Oh ya for sure, I’m not discouraging you from using it. I just meant that your goal could technically be achieved without it, so it’s not an unrealistic goal to have. Good luck man!

maybe I can do this!

Rosschestzip's picture

Oh hell no, you could do that with out gear. Don’t have such little faith in yourself bud. And set that goal higher so you don’t get lazy, when you hit that goal in 5 months, then what will you do the rest of the year? Don’t go crazy and set an unrealistic goal. But don’t go too easy either. Good luck, you got this bro

Thanks for adding your thoughts! I failed at responding in-line. Oops

No way buddy, not at all. There are guys on here that are 65/66 and are in phenomenal shape. I am a year or so younger than you and have noticed recovery is a little worse than it use to be in my 30's even on steroids but there is simply nothing any of us can do about it, so there is no point in using it as an excuse to do nothing. Unless you want to make a career out of lifting it really doesn't matter anyway. Gear definitely helps you way more during these later years, its a lot more necessary than during your 20's etc.

Really appreciate your response and encouragement!
