+ 3 new member just wanted to say hello....

ad

Hello all. About to be 42 and been back in the gym the last 2 years. I'm kinda a mess. I initially found this site because I was simply interested in the magic formula and thought this will help me. But if I'm honest with myself, I still need to get my diet in order. I do go to the gym M-F. Part of my problem is time. Single father of 3 young kids solo, plus work, business, and all that comes with raising children. I do manage to goto the gym M-F during my launch for about 1-1.5 hours a day, but I was only eating once a day. Now, I did start incorporating lunch in there and made a sandwich, but, I'm sure that isn't great.

I usually start with a 30 min run to warm up and get a sweat going, then weights. I've tried fasting, but have mixed success. My biggest issue is not being strict with my diet. I still drink a soda with dinner, eat sweets from time to time. I'm not counting calories, etc. Even with cutting everything back. Drinking over a gallon of water every day, minus the one soda for dinner, and I don't know if its the getting older, where as in my 30s with this same diet, I had no trouble staying around 190 lbs, but now, I'm stuck at 220-230 lbs.

After reading a lot of post trying to figure out what I want to do, and learn in general, I do think I am going to take the advice that I have seen and try to get everything under control better before jumping in. Last I checked my body fat, it said 13.7%, but I know I've gained 10 lbs since that was taken last. I found this site when trying to find a reputable place, and found a few not so reputable places that I almost went with, but further research had me pause things.

I'm sure I might get some hazing, and that's fine, I just figure if I want to make some changes, I should be honest on here, because what is the point in lying. Yes I would like to trim up. Yes I want more muscle and have a good bod. I'm not opposed to doing a cycle. I've done one once before when I was 20, because I didn't know any better. I didn't know about PCT, or what to take. This guy at the gym had Eq, and I was like sure. I know, I know, not the brightest. Young and dumb I suppose.

Alright, enough about me. Serious question though. I see people a lot say get blood work. Where would one do this, without having to explain why. Or seeing a doctor? Is it expensive? Obviously, if I do get on later, I want to be safe, but not sure about talking about this stuff to a Dr, etc.

Where you get bloods depends on where you live in the world. Easiest place to start is look for TRT clinics, book one of the 'advanced trt blood tests' or whatever they like to call it and off you go. That's your baseline sorted. You might end up going down the TRT route in which case they will take care of you. Or you can buy your own test and get your bloods done 4 weeks in and you'll soon see if your gear is working. I would suggest not going over 300mg per week of test - https://journals.physiology.org/doi/epdf/10.1152/ajpendo.2001.281.6.E1172 - check out page 4, table 2 - 300mg per week gained 5.2kg of LBM vs the 7.9 kg of LBM the 600mg per week got. Naturally, the higher dose gained more mass but their markers were way off and the general stress to the body would have been much greater.

I appreciate the input. Still working on natty for now and just seeing what I can do. I can't lie, Its been a struggle as I get older. I cut out all Soda, candies, etc for a month, worked out even harder, took in way less calories, and my weight didn't budge the entire time. It literally fluctuated up/down 2 pounds almost the entire time. I know its not the be all end all, I just thought rationally, calories in vs Calories out would have to have some effect. It's frustrating to cut all that out and not see any change. But I'm just whining now.

Hey friend, I've been on test for just over a month now with phenomenal results. Do what works for you.... But with that said: I definitely have more fat than you. Since I started test, I've gained muscle and lost fat - usually a very difficult feat. I feel so good and so full of energy. Read up on the risks and benefits of t, and decide for yourself. Utilize the people and sources here.

I wish you the best in your fitness journey. Don't hesitate to message me if you want.

Welcome, I'm a newbie just like you. And I have a lot of questions. But I read the topics on the forum and I see how much useful there is. Good luck to you.

Yeah same. So far I have cut out my biggest Vice, soda every day with dinner. That plus getting back on a strick diet, I'm hoping does wonders, with all the working out I've been doing already. Once I get all this tightened up, then I'm going to reevaluate what I want to take or use to go to the next level.

Damn mate, I still can't eliminate soda from my diet, I'm trying to go without sugar, but it tastes like rubbish. You are doing great.

So im currently doing the Carnivore Diet, and damn this is crazy and hard. Not doing any cycles or anything, especially as this is the first time I'm trying this crazy diet. No carbs at all. Had to give up all soda, candy, sides with dinner ;p A lot of chicken, steak, eggs, cheeze. Only 4 days in, but so far, it hasn't been to bad, so I'm gonna run this for a month or two to clean up, and just see what happens. Maybe after this, and I get into a much better normal eating routine, I'll look and see where I am. The no sugars and no soda, sucks, but its definitely doable.

Thanks. I'm trying. I've been back into the Gym consistently for the last 2-3 years, so I feel good on that front. Diet has been my soft spot. That and sleep, but I do what I can with job, business, and 3 little girls solo. It is what it is. But I appreciate the words everyone.

I am. I’ve worked on tightening up my diet. I’ve cut sodas out completely and have worked on maintaining a decent diet. No candy, soda’s, fast food, etc. I’ve been cooking l A’s of chicken/beef at a time and simply eating rice/chicken/veggie, or beef/rice/veggie. It sux, but I’m sticking to it. I am currently holding off of any drugs for the time being until I see what comes of my diet first.
