Looking for Advice

ad

I'm turning 40 in a few days. The only experience I have here is that I took a cycle of enanthate when I was 19. I was ripped at 195lbs, (now I am 230 with a belly).

I'm in the gym often enough, but I'm committing to changing my diet and routine. Something about turning 40 I guess.

I'm interested in HGH and Test. Not looking to get huge, just defined and toned. I've got about 30 lbs to lose.

I have been reading through different products, sources, and reviews. There is a lot of information out there.

I need some guidance on what HGH is the best bang for the buck and from what source. It is a bit overwhelming from first glance. I have read that some are taking it EOD. Is that the best dosing regiment? How long should a cycle be? 3mos, 6 mos, 1 yr?

What test is the best to pair with the hgh? Is test the right thing to use or something else? A bit of bulk would be nice, but I'd really like to trim up.

Sorry for all of the newb questions. I can read ok, I was just hoping some of you guys with experience could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like you would be basically starting from scratch, Once you have all of the other things done as best you can, and we are not perfect and always try to get better. Diet, sleep, working out, supplements etc. I would ask your doctor for a blood test if you have not done one in a while, just to see your CBC and numbers are basically ok. What you do is your final choice but it seems like Test only did you good last time and that was a long time ago so why not go what worked for you then. I am not sire what dose to recommend. I would start at 250mg Test E twice a week with an AI on hand. Sounds basic but if your body is clean and your genetics and all the other stuff is on point you get what you put out. Some people do not have the time to only focus on Roid issues due to work , or family or whatever but if you are going to mess with this stuff better to read the beginners cycle stuff and what the members here took a lot of time to put together some blueprints of bodybuilding and better chances of better results by doing certain things check posts below. Take a bit of time out and see what you think. Much luck

I appreciate the response. I had CBC done and test levels came back at 252. Everything else came back in acceptable range. Doc started me on Cyp 200,1 ml per week. I'm going to ride that for a little while until my efforts establish a habit.

I personally think that 200 isn't a TRT dose. That's like a really low dose cycle. 80-100 is more of a TRT dose but as others said, maybe jumped the gun. Trust me brother, if you don't need to be on TRT, don't be on it. It sucks pinning constantly or rubbing gross gel all over your body. You can bump it up slightly if you wanted, no higher than 300 and consider it a cycle since you already started. Focus on cardio, health, eating right, cutting down that BF and then run an aggressive PCT since you started low. Sere where you are after that.
I'm not here to bash or insult anyone, I know what it's like to be in that position, watching your health failing and feeling a bit helpless so if health if your main goal, try to get your health on track and use this opportunity to transform yourself.

IrishMack's picture

its just too bad your doctor is not looking out for your health at all and you fell for it with no research; also there is no way everything showed up acceptable EXCEPT total T. Post the bloodwork.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5944503/

Here are some excerpts since you wont read the whole thing maybe

Male obesity is also associated with increased aromatase activity within adipocytes resulting in peripheral conversion of testosterone into estradiol and subsequent increase in estradiol levels. In turn, estradiol exerts a negative feedback effect on LH secretion, reducing the plasma concentrations of testosterone.

Obese men have 30% lower total testosterone levels than eutrophic men and 40% have levels below the lower limit of normality.[3] Although the exact pathogenic mechanisms are not yet clarified, a decline in sex hormone-binding globulin associated with obesity may partially explain the observed decrease in testosterone concentrations.[6

Biochemical deficiency of androgens in obese men may be partially reversed with weight loss[13] and, as a form of treatment for these individuals, it is recommended to modify the lifestyle to lose weight.[4]

AND THE MAGIC OF IT ALL.......ARE YOU READY????

Corona et al[1] performed a systematic review on body weight loss and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. They included observational and interventional studies, and weight loss by either bariatric surgery or low-calorie diet resulted in a significant increase in gonadotropins and testosterone (total and free) levels, and multiple regression analysis demonstrated that the degree of body weight loss was the best determinant of total testosterone rise.

Therefore, body weight loss and lifestyle interventions should be the first approach offered to obese men with low testosterone levels.

Doc jumped the gun in my opinion. Lose that 30lbs and I bet your test would be higher and you wouldn't be a slave to the needle either.

Janus's picture

That's the smartest thing to do.

scoobydoo's picture

How was your A1C?

petergriffin's picture

Not great, but not totally alarmed. 5.0. I will test again in 6 weeks. I've cut all sugar, grains, 90% of dairy. I have high hopes for the next a1c result.

press1's picture

As far as I'm aware thats fine bud - It's high 5's and over 6 you need to start worrying lol My last was creeping up. Bare in mind that taking Steroids WILL increase your HBA1c automatically as they alter the way the liver and pancreas work raising blood sugar as a result. When you come off again this will lower back down in time.

scoobydoo's picture

That's actually pretty good. It's something to keep an eye on. Especially if a parent has type 2 diabetes.

dmxinyourface's picture

Yup. Blood work first.
If you were ripped at 19 at fat at 40. It PROBABLY means you need testosterone replacement.
A blood work will confirm that.
Hgh is definitely NOT the "best bang for the buck".
Test IS.
If you fit in the hrt protocol then yes test+gh is a safe bet. Guys would do anything between 125-250mg test with 1-2iu gh.
I wouldn't touch the gh before a few months on test IF you fit in the TRT need.
Seems you're basing those 30lbs to lose on your 19s. Big mistake. Don't try to look like that and do not compare. You're double the age now. Work with what you have and be carefull. Body is NOT as strong at 40. Nope.

petergriffin's picture

TRT was needed. 252 level confirmed in blood test. Doc agreed to test igf, so now I just have to make time to hit the lab.

Started on cyp 200. I'll likely bump that up after I get in my routine. HGH is en route. Thanks for the response.

Greg's picture

If you were ripped at 19 at fat at 40. It PROBABLY means you need testosterone replacement.

Seriously? Maybe he shouldn't eat like an active 19-year-old and eat more like a sedate 40-year-old

dmxinyourface's picture

I have no clue what he was eating at 19 and now.
I just reply to his questions. That's it.
Diet is no doubt a HUGE importance.

Greg's picture

EXACTLY. So if he was ripped at 19 and fat at 40 he probably should look at his diet first and NOT Testosterone replacement which was your grossly misguided answer.

I almost want to neg the arrogance of this rebuttal...

petergriffin's picture

@Greg, that cuts like a knife because it is true. The Doc I'm seeing is fairly well versed in nutrition. I got a bit of a sermon from him on where diet needs to be. It's tough being from the swamp and all that damn good food, but I'm committed to the changing my lifestyle (mainly diet). I appreciate the feedback.

IrishMack's picture

SO I am reading through your responses to people here, you say your doc is well versed in nutrition, yet he put you on trt instead of a diet. You ask peoples advice on diet, yet you didnt ask the well versed doctor, You ask people if fasting is a good idea, yet still did not ask the well versed doctor.

It just smells of absolute bullshit. I cant understand for the life of me why you would lie to people who dont even know you and very well may never?

petergriffin's picture

I never said he didn't put me on a diet. I appreciate opinions, so I asked for them. I thought that might be welcomed here. I'm genuinely trying to improve my life.

Now I'm a liar? You're probably fun at parties. Try to relax, bud.

IrishMack's picture

So every guy that hits 40 needs trt? Not having the same body when we were teenagers at 40 means low T? Not bad eating or thyroid or any other possible medical reason? How about just plain old and out of shape? Ripped at 19 and fat at 40 PROBABLY could be absolutely anything besides low T.

dmxinyourface's picture

Just yesterday I watched "Dr Testosterone" It was a debate. Studies says it's been AT LEAST 3 generations that mens have lower testosterone. Means granpa levels were higher than yours and I.
And I am not a doctor. I just reply to questions as they come. The doctor is the one to check what you just listed.

IrishMack's picture

I'm right there with you, we certainly are not the same we were in our teens lol. My issue is noone in that profession is looking at the big picture and just trying to find the reason other than age as a factor. It could be a million things and usually it is.

dmxinyourface's picture

I 100% agree with that. General HEALTHY life style is the answer not a magic shot of test and all problems are gone. For people who are unhealthy and are only waking up since cvd well you have a LOT of work. But we welcome everyone to be healthy and strong. Its never too late. --

petergriffin's picture

It was definitely low t. 252.

I don't have a terrible diet, but it isn't great. I'm resolved to cleaning that up. Thanks for the input here.

Greg's picture

Low but within normal range, weight loss and exercise can get that up. But hey, all's good, you've got a lazy doctor resigned to patients not putting in the work who was willing to place you on TRT.

Research HGH gut before you start down that road.

IrishMack's picture

And more than likely the reason why it's so low is because of a of course your age be your diet and see you're not training it could be d or stress it could be e your environment so many different factors but I think your first thing you need to do is get back in shape lose the weight get back in the gym for a couple of months and then go talk to your doctor and have them run another blood test I can guarantee you that number can probably double

"Old" at 40 - I wish I could remember 40! I've got quite a few years on 40, I'm the old guy! Yet I'm in the best shape of my life and making progress. Cool, right?

IrishMack's picture

I turn 50 this year, my external body looks like I'm in my 20's, my mindset is 30's, my bones and tendons are 50. I train now for my age not my mindset haha

press1's picture

Its amazing how well tendons seem to stick to bones considering how long we lift heavy weights for over the years, its no surprise they are the first things to start fraying and snapping rather than muscle itself. Do you take any specific supps for tendon elasticity and recovery? I started taking glucosamine and chondroitin again recently but the stuff seems to give me the shits lol It is a year out of date though and considering its made from cows windpipes I threw it out in the end.

IrishMack's picture

I am going to get some tb-500 and bpc, all the supplements in the world I have tried have not sped up the recovery at all. My tendons in the mri looked like overcooked spaghetti that was mushed together in both my bicep tendons. I may even try low dose gh. My problem is with my trt my abdomen muscle and my intestines have grown like I was not even through fkn puberty yet. I dont want the gh to give me palomboism.

press1's picture

HGH is supposed to help, but also comes the problem of Insulin resistance over time. You would think IGF-1 would be good such as the stuff exotic uses.

petergriffin's picture

I'm thrilled to make 40. I don't come from a place where everyone made it that long.

I've learned a lot thus far and I'm looking forward to not remembering 40 as well.

Glad to hear you're doing well. Thanks for chiming in on this.

JBsuperman's picture

Good to see you're on the right track. Good luck going forward.

wanted's picture

Leta hear what your macros are at in uour new diet we can start there. Them improve then move on to running a cycle

petergriffin's picture

I don't know what macros are, but I can sum up the diet plan. Mostly carnivore with a sprinkle of the paleo diet. Resistance at least 3x per week.

What do you think about intermittent fasting (7pm - 10am)? Is that bullshit or does it help?

Thanks for the dialogue on this. I have a lot to learn.

wanted's picture

Ive done intermittent fasting back in the day for about 2 years straight I actually got down to low low body fat. The fake body fat test had me at 4.5 percent……
16 hours — for me it worked great i stuck to the plan and would reward myself after every 3 weeks i would buy something for myself that i wouldn’t normally buy. Like incentive to stick to the plan —. But remember you still have to eat healty the rest of the day to get your protein goals in. If your gona cheat yourself dpnt even bother with internmitting fasting.

petergriffin's picture

Solid advice. Thanks man.

Makwa's picture

Drop that 30 lbs before running any cycle. Steroids aren't weight loss drugs. Read the reviews and you spot the good gh right away.

petergriffin's picture

All good points. I'm already working on the diet part. Working hard to keep it consistent to form a habit. Thanks for the advice.

petergriffin's picture

Good stuff here. Got the blood test done and met with the doc earlier this week. T was at 252. Didn't think it was that bad, but the bloodwork said otherwise.

Doc put me on cyp 200 once a week. That will prob get me to a more acceptable range in general. I'm changing my diet as if my life depends on it (it does). I've never stopped going to the gym, but I'm making it a more consistent 3x per week.

Doc is a supporter of hgh, but won't/can't prescribe it (though he was happy to counsel should I choose it). I'm expecting my order to arrive early next week.

Lots of good feedback here. Much appreciated.
