Hello from an Old Noob

ad

Hello All:

I am a 38yr old male who has taken too many years off from the gym. I'm back at it and trying to get back to a more youthful/strong body. (I'm going to be a father again!)

Im open for any suggestions..right now I am following Sarg's plan in the exercise forum.
My stats - 5'8, 211 lbs, 23%+ body fat. (guesstimate without calipers...prolly more)

My first focus is getting my body ready for some heavy lifting while losing some body fat. Then....Hit it hard!

Any ideas how to jump start things? I randomly undergo urinalysis...GI

Happy to be here with such an elite crowd. I look forward to listening and learning all I can.

Lets keep each other in check then! Sprinting first thing in the morning! Log your diet...everything that goes in your mouth...food, drinks, etc. If you need help, google fatsecret. I have found logging all my intake and workouts (estimated calories burned) helps a lot. Eat clean, and burn more energy than you consume and the fat should fall off....
I get inpatient sometimes, but I have to remember that I didnt get this big overnight, and it will take time and constant motivation to get to a decent body fat %.

Wow, sprinting/PU/etc was an experience this morning! Wanted to puke most of the way through..lol.

8pm is the best time for me to hit the gym...hope thats not too late...prolly need to lesson my post workout meal? Protein and smaller serving of carbs?

I have been taking the CLA, L-Carnatine (on empty stomach) ON amino's,vitamins, ON casein protein, ZMA, and also Bev Int Keto 7, lean out, quadracarn, Ult protein..and GNC creatine. Will order some Ginko and the curry base spice..cant remember right off the top of my head.
Funny you mention Bison...I have a 28 Cu Ft freezer full of grass fed Bison, Oryx, and Deer. (We are a hunting family.) All are wild animals, grass fed and lean.
I have been using the instant oats, but will switch to the Irish steal cut...have to make big batches..that 20min cook time will be hard to manage every morning.

Thanks again for the tips.

Congratulations with the child on the way and your motivation to get fit once again, if your already following a fitness plan then that’s great but that’s half the battle, you then have to deal with self-motivation and intake of macrobiotics, as far as supplemental advice to speed up the process that can be a bit tricky and quite difficult as the market is swamped with products that are effective and not quite so effective.
First off there are hormone based weight loss solutions generally "anabolic" steroids because they do in fact increase energy expenditure so they "indirectly" burn fat. Also steroids have a ratio of anabolic/androgenic properties those with higher androgenic properties will inhibit the ability of the body to store fat cells.

then there is central nervous system stimulants such as Adderall, Ritalin, sibutramine, phentermine etc. which either forcibly increases or inhibits the reuptake of hormonal signals serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine causing a feeling of satiety (Fullness) that in the long run reduce caloric intake causing weight loss, I personally did Adderall and Ritalin for school and lost nearly 20lbs in one month haha never again although my focus was insane (:

then you got your vitamins/minerals/amino/drugs (such as clenbuterol) and other natural alternatives that in fact do work as long as you keep your diet straight and your goal solid; that being said the diet is what makes or breaks any fitness goal, I have experience with this first hand, I kept questioning why I didn’t gain weight while I was on anabolic and it was because I wasn’t eating enough proving that all in all diet is key and your body will give you the signs you need to alter conditions accordingly. I wish you luck and hope you reach your fitness goals.

Thanks for the post. Dont think I can get away with most of the stimulants...they are starting to test for prescription abuse where I work. I'm not sure what the new lineup will include, but they are expanding from the normal party lineup.

Diet is getting straight. Gave up alcohol (the hardest), fried crap, simple sugars etc. Just finding it hard to graze enough veggies...lol. Finding it hard to get enough calories on the healthy diet.

Sgt-- started with the "on cycle" that was stickied. I'm not on a cycle, most of what I have read is that my BF is too high for AAS. Im open to the idea though if it would help kick start things.

Sure thing...I will keep a pic journal and post when I have noticable results. I'm highly motivated! On top of having another child...I am about to leave my cush job, hang up my skates and move back to my real career field...and cant be in this shape when I arrive at next station.

Thanks for the reply, and I look forward to reaping gains from your knowlege!
