+ 2 You don't HAVE to take s*** from anyone, you know...
...and that includes suppliers.
I was just poking around the site (kidney stone -- little bugger's about ready to pass, but until it does, no sleep for me...), and noticed several complaints about nasty responses to their email queries sent to suppliers. Now granted, some people are obviously enormous pains in the a** to the supplier, emailing about their order every day, but if you've waited the specified T/A time provided by the supplier when your order was placed, and you send a query regarding the order and get a pissy, untruthful, or just plain "better than thou response", wrap up your business with that outfit to the extent possible, let the mods know if you were ripped off (they'll want to verify as much as they can before dinging the supplier), and move on. Don't lose your own temper and fire off email after email with threats, provocations, and the like...10 times out of 10 nothing you say, regardless of how threateningly or nastily you say it isn't going to accomplish anything. Some objectives (or nuisances) have to be moved around, rather than taken -- Ask William T. Sherman (shudder, throw up a little in my mouth, and spit a couple of times after typing his accursed name), if you get a chance, if he'd fight the battle of Kennesaw Mountain again with the same tactics, knowing what we do today, or just blow the damn train tracks to hell and back, muster the Army of the Tennessee, and give the now useless mountain vantage point a wide berth, following the strategy laid out by HIS commander, and moving on to the larger objective -- Atlanta.
That battle was never about the mountain, it was about cutting the supply chain to the forces Sherman knew his commands would encounter in the days to come. But he lost his temper, lost sight of the larger objective, and authorized his forces on the ground to attempt to take the mountain, losing far too many men, and depleting much of that Army's morale, and fought a bloody, costly battle for nothing.
Suppliers are like Generals. Some of these guys have superiority complexes, some are control freaks, some just have nasty tempers and no capability to control them, and others probably stay on Tren and Halo year 'round, and won't be around long.
Either way, once a supplier gets snippy with me I'm out -- There are too many reliable suppliers around, and let's face it, at my age I've taken about all the s*** I'm going to take from any damn body. I'm respectful, to the point, and honest to a fault in all my communications, whether business or personal, but once that first hissy fit gets thrown at me in response to a respectfully stated, undeniably documented, and valid complaint, I'll cut my ties and move on. Stress is something my day job provides quite enough of without having it added to by some guy on the other end of an email thread, not worth it. There's training to be done, and stress jacks up my mind/muscle connection altogether.
Like my Platoon Sergeant told me when we had drinks after I reported in for my first duty assignment after taking a commission many moons ago (I was enlisted myself until I made E-5, then shuttled off to OCS), "L-Tee, when it's time for you to be uncomfortable, the Army will arrange for it in spades. Until then, make comfort your #1 priority".
Same theory applies here. After all, Platoon Sergeants are never wrong, every one I've ever served under, or later commanded told me so themselves :-)
That's a rather longer way of saying "You aren't shopping at Wal-Mart or Target, folks", but I thought it might be worthwhile, to our newer users in particular to expand on that time honored retort, accurate as it is.

AnonHave to say I've been treated poorly by a source when, respectfully, bringing a valid and verifiable problem to his attention.... Immediately the attitude was that I was trying to pull something over on him. Which I understand to an extent - I'm sure a lot of assholes do try to get free gear and lie. But when I approach a source with respect, make it clear that I want NOTHING FOR FREE out of the ordeal because I find it more important, for the safety of others, for this source to know that I really got an infection from his gear.... There's just no excuse for that shit. Luckily I have a friend that's a chemist in a compounding facility for prescription medications - he is coming into town this weekend and I'm having both the opened and unopened bottles of the gear in question tested for sterility. If only the opened vial is unsterile, I will apologize for blaming his gear. Sound crazy? Well that's just the level of respect I have for people, I go to this extent to VERIFY that it was not user error before leaving a bad review because I'm a man of my word and it really does mean that much to me. A man is nothing without his word. Sources shouldn't get superiority complexes and as mentioned think their shit don't stink. We're all human. I work in a hospital and routinely pin others with vaccinations, but I'm still human, I don't think i'm immune to the laws of nature and it's still possible that I slipped up.
Case in point. This is the Black Mrkt ppl. These are not guys with business degrees, a business plan or (in most cases) business etiquette. In fact a lot of these guys are only 2 clicks up from your neighborhood crack dealer. I watch with a birds eye view and there are SRC's here I would not touch with a 10 ft pole just by the way they conduct themselves.
The other side of the coin is that we have some pretty shady custees here always trying to get over and always angling for free gear. You know, the ghetto mofo's who think they got game. I get complaints from SRC's all the time about members trying to extort free gear with the promise of a good review or a threat of a bad review if they don't kick it in. Do these guys make it more difficult for the average juicer just looking for a reliable SRC with decent gear? Of course they do... NO ONE LIKES TO GET FUCKED! Not SRC's and NOT custees. But because of the nature of what we do there will always be dirty bitches on BOTH sides

TWO THINGS: as a community with a common goal we need to be aware in these situations. I float around here and post less and less because so much childish drama now adays. Sources should be respectful and conduct themselves as businessmen. while doing underground shit back in the day i was an honest business man and you could count on my word. I didnt deal with crack head attitudes. I see a lot of desperate crack head attitudes here now a days. Sources should be weary of them. I would. Flip side: Customers trying to strong arm sources need to be booted from this site. Both should be put on blast. sources dont know how to act i dont give a shit how good your shit is act like you care about your customers, even if you dont or get the fuck off this site. Customers act like you have some self dignity even if you dont or same get the fuck off this site. illegal or not it is business, for both sides. and your actions do affect this community. I hate seeing newb people putting a source on blast by posting shipping info or some other stupid crap at the same time i hate seeing shady sources acting like their shit dont stink and you NEED them. that is all
I'm with you 100% there, man -- but Jesus, how freaking hard is it to spot some prick trying to pull free gear with the the promise of a good review? Good suppliers are more concerned with the quality of their product, the security of their operation, and a consistent, well-planned and executed order management and fulfillment system than they are with some bonehead who promises them a 5-star review for a free 10ml, or 100 tabs. If the prospective "custee" hasn't already come up off a non-significant amount of cash, there's no way I'd give the guy so much as a damned vintage 1997 Sos Rediject.
The sources who offer gear for barter are at least doing business...both persons involved in the transaction get something. That's been going on for as long as Oilbased / Insomniac would meet you at a Waffle House if he was coming through town and trade whatever he had on hand for breaking $100 bills for him...and I'm sure even before that.
Dirty bitches? Yeah, I can't argue...they occupy both sides of this spectrum. But Hell, no one calls them out due to fear of LE repercussions, so that's not likely to end. All I can say is that personally I've never dicked anyone around, even when they had it coming...And as should be expected when you live your life by a code that puts more emphasis on your own character and reputation than on your temper and oh-so-god damned scary and totally non-verifiable Internet avatar and persona (not referring to you, hll, just dirty bitches in general), You'll inevitably lose money.
All I can say is that if you aren't some buck-75 weighing Joe Blow who just decided steroids would fix his shitty ass training, nutrition, rest, and prioritization schedules, don't think trading stars for free or cheap gear will get you anywhere but publicly bitch-slapped.
Other than leaving out the "source is not your friend" speech,
everything he said.
