So i have read plenty of posts concerning abscesses and infections due to pinning and decided to contribute my story.

Week four of my first cycle running test e only with adex. Keeping it very conservative as it is my first cycle and want to be as safe as possible. I follow all the rules as far as hygeine is concerned when it comes to pinning. I showered prior, warmed the vial, swabbed the vial rubber top and injection site with different alcohol pads, used different needles to draw and inject, yada yada yada. As you can guess by the title i still got an infection as per the ER doc an hour ago. Didnt mention how or why I got infection I just focused on the issue at hand. Problem began after i pinned left quad a week ago and it left me with a knot in my muscle. Had I done more research i would have seen that injecting anywhere near that knot is a no-no. Not knowing any better at the time i pinned near the knot figuring ehh. An hour after pinning horrible pip was experienced. Very slight swelling, not really red, some warmth at the injection site. The next day golf ball size swelling at site, redness setting in and very warm to touch. I decided to start self medicating with doxycycline. Good thing too. So little recap....pin Wednesday, thursday signs of infection so i start medicating, today (Friday) go to ER and confirmed abscess was forming. One VERY PAINFUL shot of Clindamycin later and 6 days worth of antibiotics with horrible possible side effects and here I am. Initially doc just wanted to cut it open and drain it but he was pa assisstant. Once actual doc came in final decision was made to just put me on meds since infection didnt seem to be that far gone. Just wanted to share my story and hopefully provide some insite to others. Doxy definitely held it at bay till i was seen. Now lets hope draining isnt necessary. If you are worried about infection please get seen. I started feeling like crap in that short of a period so i was lucky in a way. The unlucky ones dont get as many symptoms. Just food for thought.
