+ 9 Train Smart

ad

I'm sure we can all relate to the ego's we come across daily in the gym. The guy who's working out his back, neck, traps, delts all while doing bicep curls. Or the kid who is hitting is triceps, shoulders and back when he's slamming the barbell that is 100 pounds too much when he's doing bench press. Contrary to some belief; more isn't always better and training is methodical art that needs to encompass a fine-tuned science. Staying with me? On a flip side i'll switch it up and say more gear isn't always better either You can shoot 4 grams of Testosterone, but your axis can only process so much and you're essentially wasting a good amount of it. Same with HGH; without its synergistic butt-buddy - testosterone, our bodies cannot utilize much more than 3IU, or for women, 1IU (roughly) Back to topic. I talk to a lot of people who are constantly complaining about the feeling of a torn muscle, but they're still training it! If your muscle is damaged, it sure as hell isn't growing! Go ahead and tear a muscle and then what, you can't train for 8 months and risk never having full utilization ever again. Then see what gains you make, BRO. Sick, run down, running a temperature - get your ass to the gym! Oh, on the contrary says Muta. Get your ass in bed and let your body rest! You need to listen to your body, learn the warning signs. This is why the vet's always preach one compound at a time, this way, you'll know what's causing the back bumps, or skyrocket in your blood pressure and how to properly adapt! You aren't doing yourself any good training an inured or damaged muscle when your body is fighting off an infection or virus: never missing a day in the gym isn't the untold secret of growing. Sometimes we have to be smart enough to put our ego's to the side for the better good. Know when to fold your cards, or throw in the white flag so you can thrive in the next battle! Train smart and master this methodical art my friends..

Always like hearing feedback and opinions.

this post is spot on, i tell my friends much of the same shit regularly and i, like most of ua, had to learn the hard way.

i trained so obsessively and was so completely focused and determined to never stop growing in strength and size that it actually deafened me from what my body was telling me ...

i jacked up my right shoulder very mildly but couldnt stop lifting, it was like i was driven by a compulsion i couldnt deny, sounds crazy i know but it happened and i doubt im the only one whos experienced this. long story short, my shoulder was fucked up for easily 3 months because i wouldnt let it heal. what shouldve only taken 2 weeks to heal i dragged on and actually made far worse.

i used to go to yard in the pouring rain, if it was snowing, if i was sick or hurt, it didnt matter - for easily 2 years i didnt miss one day, but paid the price physically for this stupidity big time

What you are saying only comes from Experience. We are ALL victims of the flip side of your content. Not sure how long you have been training but 15 years ago the content and internet was embryonic. SO many were reliant on the "crap" that gets put out in Magazines. That path led to people doing the most absurd training possible.

Personally, and rose tinted specs are ace, if I had known what I know now about training and nutrition - I could have made the gains i did in 8 years within 2.5. But hingsight is wonderful!

Ive probably used every single variation of trainin and diet known to man on myself - as what works for me is whats going to get me the best results if I execute it with repeatability and Common Sense.

Leaving the ego at the door is a hard thing to do - but it comes with experience and maturity........

I had the same issue a while back. lay off the heavy squats, and do ass to heal body weight squats for about a month the strengthen up the tendons and legaments, and do leg presses as usual. Its just over stressed. Once I did this I surprised myself and squatted 450 for 5 reps. Where as before I was squatting 405 and feeling a lot of muscle tension in the growing area and outer glutes.

im gonna try that forsure because when i go light with just 135 it dont hurt at all and leg presses dont hurt either thanks man good info

Thanks Muta, well said! I think most know this but like you said we ignore the warning signs and try to plow thru thinking the gear makes us invinvable, only to be hit harder!

Yep yep push your body and let your body tell you how far you can take it. Its a fine line. So get in touch with yourself. I touch my self daily, no homo. Just went through a pec tear about 7 months ago and its a slow talk to me baby process each workout. It's like a 6th sensth sometimes.
