Total Test Serum and Reference Range
I'm curious/confused at how labs determine total test different.
For example, if a 37 year old male were to test at labcorp and the Total Test came back at 466 and the reference range is 348 - 1197. One could consider that on the low side of the reference range.
That same person had blood work done at his doctors office and the labs came back at 466 but they use a reference range of 148 - 795. One could consider that normal and on the higher end of the range.
My question is, does total test = total test no matter what the reference range is or do they base the total test on a scale from the reference range?
And no, this is not hypothetical. I just got post PCT labs back from my doctor. Test is at 466, taken at 8am. Reference range of 148 - 795. Two weeks ago I had labs done at labcorp while still on PCT and a test at 12pm yielded Total test at 300.
If total test is always total test regardless of range or lab then I'd say I'm recovering nicely going from 300 to 466, but I'm going to be honest, I'm depressed as shit and I have little to no libido.

Just hang in there bro. Every minute that clicks by is one more closer to being back to your normal self. That being said, your PCT experience is definitely reverberating within my head, hopefully mine isn't too awful.
waltri think the reference ranges your mentioning are for two different aspects.
the 348-1197 is serum test levels
and the 148-795 is for free test levels
i may be wrong about this though..
Hmm.. Doesn't mention free test
waltrare the units of measurement the same?
Yeah ng/dl
