Too much TEST causing kidney probs.....

ad

Alright guys I would like you alls insight on something….Started having discomfort in my penis. Started slight at first, no burning while urinating. Then my balls and lower abdomen started slightly hurting…nothing too bad but enough to catch my attention. About 12 days now slight burning while ejaculating or urinating and pain in my lower back (kidneys). Dr says I have excessive protein spilling over into my urin and my kidneys are having to work double hard and that whatever I’m doing I need to stop asap. I was told this a few years ago as well…..Is too much test messing me up?

35…TRT.
Currently 900 test & 500 deca….Ive ran up to a gram of test several times before but 900 seems to be causing problems this run? Any suggestions? Drop the test down to 6 or stop all together?

Thanks..

Bro. That's just dandy for your doc to tell u that. What exactly does he advise to do about it? Am, I missing something? It's like u going to your doc and his telling u your arm is broken and then you posting here for advise. Absurd man. Really strange. And the panel of renal function tests is scheduled for when?

I have never heard of Test causing renal problems. Like the guys are saying, anytime u r dealing with kidney discomfort - up the water.

Are u an American? Seems like the quality of care is heading south rapidly in the last 6 months or so . . .

That's is exactly what I'm saying. If your doctor thinks you have a kidney problem the next thing they should do is hand you a lab slip. Not base the diagnosis of a urine dip that has a fair amount of false postives.

up the water .. works for me.when ever I feel like I have to take a piss, I know to drink something
to make up for what I just got rid of. 2-3 gallons a day easy.

That is a good strategy for hydration ! I might employe that myself.. Take a piss thenreplace with water Smile

NOT trying to be sarcastic or ANYTHING of the like, but did your doctor test you for this protein excess in your urine, did he 'PRESUME' and diagnose you in such a way where he looked at you and thought, "You've got big muscles so you MUST be on the gear", and he doesn't really give a $hit about you because you're on the gear?

You didn't say whether your doctor ran any tests prior to being able to diagnose you. That's why I'm asking.

When you remember that 70% of ALL GP doctors original diagnosis are wrong, and IF he did just PRESUME that he knew what was wrong with you, because he sleeps with a medical journal under his pillow every night, you MAY want to get a second opinion on this where you're at the very least being tested for the issue, Mate.

Without being tested, how does you doc know if you don't have kidney stones, (As mentioned below), a serious prostate issue, (Again, as mentioned below), and/or a more serious issue?

IN MY OPINION: I'd get a second opinion and get myself properly tested IF my original doctor hadn't tested me already if only to put my mind and concerns at rest.

This is kind of my point as well. The OP did not mention Renal function test being done, simple bloods is what I am talking about. It is entirely possible he had some protein in his urine, but there are actually people who have some protein in there urine NORMALLY. He needs to have bloods done to see his Renal function and I would recommend a 24 urine collection to check for protein.

JustAMate's picture

I 100% agree with you, Mate.

Did your doctor order blood work to see what your Bun and creatinine was and If so what was the numbers. I would suggest you get this done ASAP and if your numbers are normal look for other causes. I recently had an abnormal Kidney test , but after I hydrated everything came back to normal. I posted the labs if you want to take a look.

The cause of your problems is NOT testosterone, and anybody saying it is has no idea what they are talking about.
If you've got kidney pain/irritation, the first thing you should do is immdiatey increase your water consumption----more than likely you are not drinking enough in relation to your protien consumption----excessive protien consumption WILL stress your kidneys, especially if your water intake is not sufficient to keep the kidneys flushed.

I got all these symptoms with my prostate. Protein in urine can be a strong indicator of prostate cancer risk. Painful ejaculation is prostate related.

Hench's picture

How are you dealing with it? Any advice?

Muffins's picture

I have prostate cancer. We are sorting out a treatment plan.

Prior to I was just treated for enlarge prostate. Most times a 21 day run of levaquin made painful ejaculations cease for six months.

I just read your post again. You either have the clap or prostatitis. Go see a different doctor.

It is absolutely likely that your kidney problems are steroid related. Although longterm studies on humans are lacking, comparative animal models show testosterone supplementation damages kidney via multiple mechanisms. You need a heart to heart with your doctor and be honest and you'll likely need to reduce or come off the drugs to preserve your kidneys. See the following article for further information:

yes exactly what Gear said. I've had stones on two occasions, if at anytime you get a debilitating pain in your back and kidney the kind that takes you to your knees and nauseous. don't panic you're more than likely passing a stone. get well.

High liquid retention can cause kidney damage since they are processing a high protein concentration blood. Revise ur AI protocol and as said below drink plenty of water

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water to flush things out. Be sure you are drinking a gallon a day.
