+ 2 Thinking of Moving out USA

ad

So I’ve been looking around lately of moving out the country… Where I live at houses are close to 300k in the ghetto alone. 1 bedroom apartments are 2000$ a month and going up. I’m to the point where I’m living month to month. Making 4200$ a month after taxes is not nothing. I’ve been thinking of moving out the country. My list is Brazil, Costa Rica, or Hungary… I know it’s a big leap and yes I’ve lived in Korea for a couple of years before. Does anyone have any input or advice?

These are all good ideas.. for when you have money and retire. Cheap living usually means low wages.

You just got to get out of the city. Country life is where it is at.

Panama. Relatively safe, easy to get citizenship, inexpensive, you can own property (v Costa Rica where you can only lease). US dollar is currency (result of American presence during Panama Canal). lots of expats, only a couple of hours to the states. Modern cities with better infrastructure than most countries in this hemisphere. Two coastal regions, cool mountain regions. You can live like you were upper middle class on the west coast for around 25k per year.
Oh, did I mention extremely cheap global healthcare coverage?

...one might think I've been looking into this for a while.

Is it like Mexico you can get anything you want at the pharmacy without a script?

USA is the only place you can really secure a job making what you are making now, unless you work remotely. Although, if you work remotely, move to Jamaica, Mon!

I don't know your home state or city. But there is a lot of great rural places in Tennessee that have a very low cost of living The people there are a little Bible crazy but for the most part they ain't bad. I still own a bunch of land up there and it only cost me $200 a year in taxes.

I’ve thought about this myself, if anything were to happen to my wife I’d probably go, but I’m thinking Europe. The biggest thing is the not often thought about changes; Laws on drugs, firearms, many countries require a certain amount of money in your bank account, there’s much more to it than just moving. But, it’s something I’ve thought about and would encourage anyone considering it to give it a go. It’s not like you’re renouncing anything, can claim dual citizenship if the host country allows it.

If I were to move out of USA, Id consider Costa Rica or portugal. I’m staying out right now with the possibility to eventually move to MO or Arkansas.

In a similar boat here, absolutely tired of the U.S. and planning to leave in a few years. Slowly making a switch to a tech career so I can work anywhere in the world.

Also helps that I married a foreigner with tons of farm land in her country.

Personally I wouldn't go that extreme. I could never leave the states. With being over twice the size of EU, there's definitely something for everyone here. Over the last several years I was sick of all the BS of my home state and other BS as well. I was researching for about a good year where I wanted to move my family. Finally decided to move across the country. Took a better paying job and the cost of living is a little less than where I was. It's definitely been worth it for us. More freedoms where I am now. My stupid ass home state keeps going further blue.
