Testosterone, Dementia and Calcium Channel Blockers
I had been concerned about the long term effects of TRT on neural cells. I had seen a study that showed both current and former steroid users all had spatial memory recall on par with dementia patients, so I thought it was just a price I have to pay. However, it turns out I may be wrong as this study, http://www.jbc.org/content/281/35/25492.full, indicates that calcium channel blockers completely stop the degenerative effects of Testosterone on neural cells, at least those cells derived from tumors as used in this study. I am taking calcium channel blockers for high blood pressure, so I might remember mine afterall. I know I am jumping to conclusions given the neural cells source, but it may be worth your time to look into for yourselves.

Huh that's interesting, I was on verapamil a calcium channel blocker for about 5 years for cluster headaches until it stopped working. Had no idea I was helping myself. Idk about all calcium channel blockers but verapamil is known to cause a brain fog or cloudiness. I did not like how that stuff made me feel at all. Definitely felt like it made me forget a lot more stuff and made me stupider.
I know exactly what you mean about the brain fog, I was taking something a decade ago that put a cloud over everything so I stopped taking it. I am now taking Lercanidipin, and I noticed no negative effects on my thinking. Nonetheless, everybody is different. Each person needs to find what works for them. Ultimately, I believe everything I am depends on my memory, so I am very encouraged by the possibility this study represents.
