Taking some time off from the gym. That bad?
ad
Hey guys, so I completed a cycle not to long ago and in my final week of pct, but for some reason this week I hve no interest in hittin the gym at all. My appetites find, in still horny as hell but just no enthusiasm in the gym. I have been training basically 4 months straight 5 days a week..so my question is, is taking a few days off from the gym to clear the mind and body such a terrible thing?

Every 3 months I take a week off to heal as hard as it is. Your body needs a break sometimes. During that week eat good and get lots of sleep. I also double up on my amino acids.
I used to do a 3 on 1 off and it was great. now i do so much MMA training that i never have to worry about "to much" lifting cause i do more MMA than weights but 3 on 1 off worked well back then.
I TAKE::::
A day off after every two on.
A week off after every six weeks on.
A whole MONTH off every year (December).
When I adopted this protocol 12 years ago at the age of 37, I started growing again like crazy.
You are still in recovery. Train with light light weight 3 times a week. Just enough to let the muscles know you still love them..lol Keep your ego at the door, were a long sleeve shirt if your self concious and do light weight..Depending how fast you recover, you could be in a catabolic state or just now gettin your naturat test goin.
Most inportant keep the diet the same..
Take a break..Just dont get used to it..ha,ha
56tooBrother I think thats actually a good idea. I wish I could get myself to do that. Taking some time off helps the body heal and gets it ready for some more punishmnet
Just dont let diet go and youll be fine and do not be to discouraged when you go back and your strength and stamina has decreased , cuz most likely wil
Its all about how much you want it, in MY opinion.
I had to take time off because of having skin cancer surgery on my back. After 3 weeks of healing, before I could have the stitches removed, when I was able to get back into the gym, real life had taken over and I lost my priority for putting the gym first for over 7 years.
FOR ME, IT WAS THE WORST THING I EVER DID.
But, taking a week or two off because you feel like you need to to get your game rolling again? DEFINITELY a good idea. It's like taking an extended vacation. It'll help you recharge your batteries and it MAY give you that extra urge to get back to it.
Only you know your body, Mate. Just try to listen to it when its pulling you back for some reason.
Thanks guys, I read all of goths posts before and I know he says take some time off, but I didn't right after I finished cycling in the fear "of losing gains" and just basically because I felt good still. But we're in week 4 of PCT and I feel drained no motivation in the gym..I worked out on Monday's an Thursday this week but considering taking Friday Saturday an Sunday off as well to just rest and get my mind back into things...Iv still been eating like a horse and eating for two ppl just no motivation in the lifting
take your time off and keep your protein intake HIGH. your body will love you for it brother. THEN.... its time to start prepping for next cycle
Not at all mate, its actually essential if you wana stay in the game for a long time. Doesnt matter how committed you are, the body and the mind need a break. I do high dose blast/cruise, 14+ weeks blast, then cruise till I feel ready to hit it again.
Basically when Im sick of eating, always tired, not interested in going to the gym, I take 4 weeks off. Youl know the difference between being lazy, and physically/mentally drained...
Take your time off then hit it hard again when ya ready!!
Use that libido up wink wink
Great idea bro. Give your body & mind a break...rest, re-group, get some ass. Enjoy a the break.
Taking time off is the BEST thing you can do. After htting the gym like a beast for months in a row, day after day, PCT is rapping up...you can give it a break for anywhere up to 7-10 days. Your joints need some recuperation and also physically and mentally, your system is taxed. A lil' R&R is A-plus!! When you get back to it, tone the workouts down too...to every other day, or well 3x/wk. That's what I have done. I also start to leave some of the lifting heavy shit for other times, like ALOT of the compound barbell movements I save for the approach pre-cycle and on cycle.
I think Goth has a post on here that's based on 'my cycle is over, now what?' I'll find the link and post it. Here it is:
