+ 1 Steroids Addiction
ad
I've read a few dozen articles where they say steroid addiction is a real thing. That it's a psychological addiction similiar to crack. I've also actually read about rehabs and detoxes that actually specialize in treating steroid addiction.
So my question is do you really believe steroid addicition is a real thing ? Or is this just another way for businesses and Dr's to make money ? Do you think a steroid addict would really suck a dick for a bottle of Test E ? They seem so different to me compared to heroin and crack addicts. That I personally don't believe it but still curious as to what all you guy think on the subject.
Thank you in advance for all your replies and feedback.

Steroid addiction,.....NO
Lifestyle addiction,....YES
People with addictive personalities will find things to be addicted to. Non addictive personalities will recognize destructive behavior
and try to change what they are doing.
Back before some of you were born, a thing came out called "the internet", it became a real time suck, so I cut down on internet time. Was it an addiction,......YES. But I changed my habits.
Steroids are addicting. Definitely. Whenever I come completely off I crave lines of cocaine. I feel like I’m missing something when I come off.
Steroids are only psychologically addictive. They cannot be physically addictive. However, it is still a big deal. Psychological addiction can be extremely damaging to your personality and life. Psychological addiction has ruined lives before whether it is from steroids or not, so be wary of everything that might give you psychological addiction if you are not strong enough. My friend suffered from psychological addiction to porn. Even though this seems like such a small thing, it rendered him useless, he was unfunctional. He lost his job, his friends had no chance for a relationship. The point is, you shouldn’t underestimate psychological addiction.
I don’t think that steroid addiction is a real thing. A lot depends on your willpower and which thoughts are in your head. First, you need to talk with specialists. You should get recommendations which steroids to use and about your dose. Not so long time ago I found out about Rehab Clinics. One of my relatives had alcohol problems. He got treatment there, and he doesn’t drink 4 years yet. I understand that your question is different but I would advise you to talk with the specialists who work in an alcohol rehab centre because they are specialized not just in this question. They also help those who have drug or weight problems. I think they will give you clear answers about steroids.
I'm pretty sure it's a real thing, at least mentally addictive. Basically you feel better, stronger, faster, and look better after using them. Why wouldn't it be addictive? Its alot of people's go to when the world around them sucks, kinda like a food addiction. I could see myself becoming addicted. The mind can get fucking twisted pretty easy when your life sucks.
I concur green pickle!.....dr press do you concur?....of course gear is addictive,...everything is addictive!... Big Macs , porn, alcohol,f@?ebo@k, making jokes about Rusty, ... it’s all addictive!...some people unfortunately are naturally/ genetically at risk for addiction to certain things by no fault of their own...so to ask the ? Are steroids/ hormones addictive is a no brainer if you’ve completed the 7th grade “ science and the human body” course....maybe not addictive to everyone, but the “ trigger” that is pulled by addition of exogenous hormones is nothing short of taking Snoop dog to a marijuana farm and expecting him to not light up ....
Sorry for the rambling, I had 2 doughnuts and a wine cooler.....
Disclaimer: Rusty, the jab at you was all in good humor...so please don’t get on your foot stool so you can look me in the eye and get tough!
How does one know, asking for a friend, if your addicted to porn? Seems to me porn addiction and steroid addiction might be part of the same addiction. I cant leave my pickle alone when on the juice.
Ok kosher dill, we will do this by the book....
When one has a “suspected addiction “, for a period of time, ( I’m guessing porn came first), no homo, then subsequent additions triggered by the first addiction is irrelevant and not deemed a pressing addiction until first addiction is eradicated....
Hope this helps bro!
Before trt/gear, i looked at porn maybe once every 2 weeks. After trt/gear, I look at porn 4 times a day. Keep in mind I'm 45 years old and my junk had alot miles on them before trt, ie kinda like an old dried up pickle. Trt/gear took me back to being early twenties again.
I CONCUR!!
Thank you Dr!
No problemo Dr Drock LOL
Exactly Bud, if something makes you feel much better about yourself and makes you more positive and focused in life then for sure its going to be hard not to want to do it. Plus you kinda feel like you are offsetting the badness of them by eating much more healthily, taking vitamins and just generally living well. Training also makes you take care of yourself much more. Surely one day, probably not in our lifetime they will engineer steroids in such a way that they will no longer cause detrimental side effects to our health such as raised blood pressure and liver/kidney problems. It must be possible in some way or other.
I think there is also another way of looking at it - Are you addicted to looking big and muscular, or obsessed with being very strong? If the answer is yes to either of those two then you are going to have an extremely hard time going back to being natural again after experiencing the progression you can make using steroids.
Me love tren!
Running 4000 test level for months of course one will be reluctant to jump off the rollercoaster. Get that “regular dick” back REALQUICI lmao!!
Most steroids are emotionally and mentally addictive, but not physically!
I'm hooked. I keep a stash in case the apocalypse come. Gunna need some test and EQ to fight zombies.
JayD718Steroid addiction is definitely a real thing, for sure! I don't believe it's a physical addiction, but it's surely a mental addiction. As far as sucking a cock for vial of test, now that's a bit of exaggeration!
Now, this is just my personal belief, but I think that very fast acting forms of test, like propionate, test suspension, and believe it or not, topical test can be even more mentally addicting than the long acting esters.
Lately, while running current cycle, in addition to taking my test enanthate injections, about an hour or two before I go to the gym, I've also been applying a large dose of topical test, specifically the underarm roll-on kind. It actually gives me an awesome energetic rush type of feeling, that seems different than the traditional testosterone rush from long esters, which helps me blast through my workout, with lots of aggression and an extra boost in strength and stamina, on top of the energetic boost, and testosterone rush I'm already getting from my long ester test injections. Or maybe, it's just because I'm used to using mostly long estered test! Lately, I've been finding myself just itching for that roll-on test, even more so than when you can't wait to take that enanthate, or sust shot! The dose that I've been using is 30mg under each arm, and it's been working great. But, I'm starting to feel like I may have to increase the dose to 60mg under each arm, to get the same boost. If you have to increase the dosage of a substance you're taking, to get the same feeling, that's one of the signs of addiction right there! Now, at first, I was thinking that maybe it's just in my head. However, I know what I'm feeling, and it's surely not just in my head.
Regarding the topic of addiction, I definitely find myself just itching for my topical test boost, and my injections as well, so I'm sure that test is mentally addicting, but I don't believe it's physically addicting. You're not going to go through physical withdrawal symptoms like a heroin addict, but you will have some mental withdrawal symptoms!
Yukon_JackAddiction doesn't discriminate. From park st to park bench. That being said, is the rich house wife who drinks box wine daily not an addict cuz she's not sleeping on the park bench drinking out of a paper bag? Food, gambling, pharmaceutical drugs, street drugs, sex, "prescription drugs", hoarding .shits so crazy they've made reality t.v. shows about these different addictions. And the list goes on bro. Do some research and you'll be shocked at some of the addictions out there. Imo, if u mentally obsess over anything that makes u feel good, can't control your obsession & need whatever it is to feel different yes there's a problem especially
If it has taken ANY TYPE negative toll in your life. From finances, personal relationships and your health That's just my 2cents. I even know a,few women who are addicted to dick. Now I'm sure we've all met 1 or 2 of them in our lives. Yes addiction is real in every aspect. Seen one where a woman ate STRICTLY CAT FOOD. canned friskies& "snack"on the dry treats.
Im pretty sure theres a few people on this forum who suck dick for test.

JayD718I seen that stupid shit on you tube a long time ago. I felt like I was going to throw up just listening to that sick shit! Maybe it's something women should try before working out. You're definitely right, just use some fuckin testosterone bro!!
You forgot a no homo bro.

I can't say it's like crack or heroin. I find anabolics more like the woman you fell in love with. Yes you can live without her there are others but nothing compares to having her around. It's more powerful than a drug as you speak of it. The way she makes you feel and how everything feels better when she's by your side.
I'm addicted to both my wife and steroids but it's a healthy addiction as I'm responsible however it's an easy road to an unhealthy relationship with either if you start to abuse them.
Not physically but mentally for sure.
Here’s a thread from a few years ago that explains it really well. Hope it helps.

Addictive, yes. Similar to crack or heroin addiction, no.
I look at it kind of like Pre Workout, I literally hate working out without PWO (caffeine bcaa taurine) because I feel like if I don’t have it that’s X amount of reps I didn’t get... Same goes for juicing, we all know being ON the weights feel lighter by the day, post cycle the same weights are not so light.
But at the end of the day you just have to be responsible and take care of your body.. Cycle and come off for your health. The 25yr olds that are “cruising” are going to have health issues down the road, that’s facts.
jayiskNo it is nothing like crack, alcohol, cigs, or opiates.
but Here is how psychiatric field defines it;
Diagnostic Statistical Manual
For DSM-IV, anabolic-androgenic steroid dependency is found in the “other substance-related disorder” (which includes inhalants, anabolic steroids, medications) section and can be coded, depending on which diagnostic criteria are met.
International Classification of Diseases
ICD–10 criteria for dependence include experience of at least three of the following during the past year:
a strong desire to take steroids
difficulty in controlling use
withdrawal syndrome when use is reduced
evidence of tolerance
neglect of other interests and persistent use despite harmful consequences
Heaze2016If you take Tren you will definitely experience atleast 3 of those.
jayiskI would say its hard to stop taking it once u get use to the gains and positive effects from gear. As long as u r not taking ridiculous dosages and make sure u get bloods to check ur health.
I use to hate doing the 3 month on/off cycling back in the day. Couldn't wait to get back on cycle.
Now a days u can use sarms/peptides and other stuff to help in between cycle.
But at 46 I just blast and cruise.
RustyhookerAs long as body image issues exist, yes.
Anorexia, bulemia, bigoritus...etc.
AnonGod damn bigoritus is real, if I miss a workout I'm small, if I miss a meal I'm small, if I can get into my truck without making obnoxious grunts I'm small, if at least 7 people don't flex at me each time I go out I'm smal, if I don't have to turn sideways to swipe my card at the register at the convenient store im small. The struggle is real.
It’s absolutely positively 100% mentally addicting and nobody can say it’s not, if they do they are in denial , also I’d like to point out there is ABSOLUTELY such thing as “roid rage” it’s common sense, you’re messing with your HORMONES!! Hormones control your feelings and emotions and when you’re on AAS like tren which is highly androgenic you will be more aggressive , more angry etc, but it also varies from person to person, whatever you are without roids, being on them will enhance what you already are. If you are an angry person in general, while on Keep in mind that it’s just the roids making you feel this way; when a feeling comes up say to yourself , relax it’s just the hormones, it’ll be okay, that helps me at times
I don’t think it’s addictive, I think it can become obsessive. I’ve had addiction rip through my life. It’s a lifestyle you have to maintain and can be seen in a different light to others who don’t understand. If anything AAS help me overcome my addiction. I know the first thing ppl say is you just swapped. Trust it’s nowhere near the same. It pushed me to eat and sleep right. It made me become a very scheduled person. But it cannot be taken lightly
I'm calling bullshit on both counts. I have never roid raged. But I will say tren if any of them has the potential to cause irrational behavior. And I am not nor have I ever been mentally addicted to them. I am TRT, but that isn't out of addiction, that is out of knowing going off isn't worth the consequences.
I became a calmer person after I began use. I was more likely to flip before I’d ever touched an anabolic. The reason was my mind and level of self discipline were weaker back then. Nothing more.
As far as the addiction aspect, I think we use the term too loosely, much like people do OCD. I see people claim how ocd they are all the time, almost glorifying it. I watched a guy not long ago attempting to get in his car. He would grab the handle, walk to the back and check everything out. Go for the handle, and repeat, checking that the trunk was shut and all the doors closed. His hands kept going to his head in frustration. He went through the cycle about 7 times before he could get in. You could tell it was a truly painful experience for him. I highly doubt he glorifies how organized his pots and pans are.
We bend many things out of context, and end up negating the power of the terms. Some people just have shitty willpower, and do shit they like more often than they should in the name of instant gratification, and use the term addiction to justify their behaviors.
jayiskI always go by the old saying when it comes to the roid rage topic,
"If you are an asshole, you will be a bigger asshole on steroids"
and i like the way u worded it as not mentally addictive but "is out of knowing going off isn't worth the consequences"
i was amazed when taking a clinical pysch class that cover the DSM that steroids where in there with substance abuse, behavioral, and mood disorders.
Hey man everyone’s different, I’ve only noticed these effects with just tren basically, I just get agitated easier, but the addiction is mostly based on an addictive personality and us bodybuilders like to take things to the extreme so we already love the gym so when we use roids it makes us love the gym / gains even more so in that aspect it can be mentally addictive
In a sense, yes, they can be “addicting.” I think just about anything in life can be psychologically addicting depending on certain factors for the individual. I have an addictive personality, and even after 11 years of sobriety I still see it manifest when it comes to food and a few other things.
If you look at the research in addiction medicine AAS are quite different from other addictions however. The acute use of steroids in the short term do not activate the dopaminergic reward pathway in the brain like many other euphoria producing drugs do. Injectables anyways. However, over time when evaluating patients with fMRI and PET scans they have been show to begin to stimulate and modulate those reward pathways in a similar fashion.
I have a bible of a textbook at home that covers addiction medicine. I’ll post the sources when I get the opportunity.
That makes more sense
Yes, absolutely! Although, anything can become an addiction & especially if you have an addictive personality. I know people that are addicted to their phone, gaming, Pepsi & even their tricks or cars. An addiction becomes an addiction when your priorities become distorted & that “thing” becomes your #1 priority.
I just heard that video games have been classified as a certifiable addiction.
Yup, I just read that myself on the daily wire!
