Used HCG for the first time, had to use sterile water was all I had. It hurt like hell! Felt like a knife in my stomach. Is this normal.

Yeah man, shit burns. you'll get used to it. I have had a batch or two that didnt but for the most part it doesnt feel so great. It burns less IM, like in the delt or vastus lateralus (thigh). People have varying opinions on whether you should pin it IM or sub q. I would just keep it sub q, I like a little bit of pain because it reminds me I'm alive haha. Perhaps it would burn less if mixed with normal saline? Dont know if it is even compatible with normal saline though.
Not for me; you mentioned the stomach - was this a Sub-q inj?
