i sent a message to a source about getting in on a promo, and they said i could only get in, if i vote, and give an honest review, and also upvote their posts so they get higher karma. Not sure about this but that seems to me like it might be against the rules asking people to upvote their posts. Maybe a mod can chime in on this, but it seems kinda shady to me.

I was accepted to the promo, but have decided to opt out. i don't wanna contribute anything to this source. Free gear is good, but i feel better contributing to the integrity of this forum by not participating.

i wrote him, said i would give an honest review only, karma is earned, if i see his post and its deserving i would but i dont just give it out. i have the msg to prove. i left it at that. now after seeing this thread, i dont feel comfortable even thinking about getting in on it.
I said the same thing and he still offered to send the gear. So i will give it it's day in court and leave honest review. If this source is the same source which offers promos all the time then I can bet you that shipping will be an issue.
That's not the right manner to conduct business!

Haha. I know exactly who your referring to. I talked to nitti about him several months ago. after reminding me to bite and review he also sent Me a link to every one of his threads he had started and asked me to give karma for all of them. I pretty much laughed about it and gave an honest review and never gave any karma. actually never even looked at his threads. sucks cause I may have actually came across a good post of his and gave karma...
I know who you speak of and the pm i got never said anything about karma. It said that he wanted my word that I would give a honest review. No I haven't been selected for the promo.
Hollywood that same source hit me up for karma votes. I declined. If they have good gear and shipping and everything else they do not need karma. There are plenty of great sources out there with below 100 karma, but they have a good business. If they want my vote they will have to come up with more that $20 worth of cutstack! LOL
As for Karma Karma comes to those who give back to the community. Like people who bring attention to Karma Whoring Promos. +1
agreed, i actually barely ever look at a sources karma. thats what i tell everyone too about karma. you want some karma, you gotta give back, write something constructive, post labs, give detailed reviews, help the community. thanks gsleepy.
It's not against the rules. They offer a promo to anyone who will give an HONEST review and vote? This normal. Now if they start pushing you to hurry up and do it, tell them you'll do it when you're good and ready. If they demand a Good review and vote, then you should tell a mod after you tell the source to beat it!
No Nitti just out of curiosity did the source in question have his karma come up unnaturally fast in the past day or so? And if so can't we do something about that? ;)

i just meant the asking me to give an honest review, vote, and "upvote my posts, so that i can gain karma" i know if i asked a member to upvote my posts so i can gain karma, i would probably get banned. honest review and vote goes without saying almost, but asking me to upvote posts before i get in on the promo seems like its going a little over the line.
Yes he's going over the line and I want to know who it is and if its who I think it is, it won't be the first time someone complains about him and i'll handle him! Just be sure to do your part and do what you think is right.
If he's asking for karma, then he isn't any better than the banned karma whores. No that's unacceptable. Up voting is different than honest reviews. I was sent a sample pack from a source. It took 8 weeks to get to me and the guy was a pain in the ass to deal with so I reviewed accordingly. I have him a shit score for T/A and communication. He didn't like it but he can go kick fuckin rocks! Nobody is going to be bribed here. The integrity of the site is not going to be compromised by ANY SOURCE!
interestig, I was recently asked to review and vote for a source whose promo I got in on, but the pack got seized so I did mot recieve nor use the gear, I informed him of this after being hounded throgh PM to which he still asked me to review/vote, no chance that was happening, and no chance I will ever order from said source.

If the gear is shit & u can back it up with something more than your word then u need let everyone knows. Thumbs up are not given away a by just giving free gear, they must be EARNED. The whole point of doing that is the fact that you are 100% confident that what u selling is gonna make your customers happy, my 2 cents here ;)

haha. i pretty much said exactly that. my answer was this "if your post has something in it that i feel is helpful towards the eroids community, i would be glad to give you a thumbs up." still though, begging for karma doesnt seem like good business to me.
