+ 5 So you think you have an abscess...
Writing this up as a bit of a guide since I'm sure this question comes up frequently especially with inexperienced users.
First thing's first, don't freak out. Getting an abscess is no big deal. If you use long enough, you're going to get one eventually. Your arm is not going to rot off like Bostin Loyd's did unless you're a complete idiot
Next let's figure out if you actually have an infected abscess or not.
Key signs:
- Skin around injection site is red, swollen and warm to the touch
- Fever
- Flu like symptoms, lethargy, just an overall ill feeling.
The first two are super easy to identify and 100% you have an infected abscess. You need antibiotics immediately
So what's next?
As a preventative measure, you could always keep a z-pack on hand. They're easy enough to get and you should be able to figure out how if you can get gear. Take the whole course. Simple stuff
Second option is to go see a doctor. I prefer this because you do not want to mess around with an infected abscess. This can kill you if left untreated. My procedure:
- Find a local clinic that accepts walk-ins. Speedy doc or something similar. They're for people without insurance or simple stuff they need quick treatment for. They're usually cheap and can get you in immediately.
- DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INSURANCE. You can afford to pay the clinic. It will likely be less than $100. If you use your insurance, you run the risk of getting dropped depending on how its submitted
- I don't generally recommend telling the doc that you injected yourself with illegal drugs. That's up to you. Make up a story. They'll know what's up but they're not going to say shit.
- Get your antibiotics and go on your merry way. Take the whole course again. Don't be a faggot about it. They work pretty quick generally. Pain, swelling and redness should subside in a few days.
See, that was easy. Next time clean your shit better before pinning. Avoid pinning that area for a few weeks min. From my experience, your gear is likely not contaminated but you can throw it out if you're worried about it.
What's not an abscess?
Injection site pain can be caused by a dozen different reasons and it pretty individual as well. You can expect it regularly in varying degrees every time you pin. Sometimes if goes away in a few hours. Sometimes it takes a week. Sometimes there's no blood at all. Sometimes it squirts across the room when you pull the needle out. Its really nothing to worry about unless you see the redness and swelling, warm skin and fever.
You may even get a lump in your ass so big it looks like you have a baseball in your back pocket. This can come with some pretty intense pain too. Its all part of the game. You're fine. Cycle your sites more. Don't hit that one so much. Switch to different gear. Pop a bunch ibuprofen, put some ice on it and deal with it. A little pain and swelling isn't going to need medical attention.

I'm sorry call me a pussy. I been on TRT FOR AROUND 9 years maybe longer. I done countless cycles I have gotten two abcess in my whole life. One was small nothing to serious.
The current one is a big deal. I'm going into my 8th day of no gym, I have a hole that's 3inchs by 4 inch deep. And changing the antibiotics stuffing that goes inside my arm hurts.
Why do people refuse to learn that a simple zpac won't save your ass. It might help if your lucky. We're will you get the antibiotics IV (vancomycin). And the best antibiotics for abcess (steriod related) is the combined amoxicillin 500/ clavulanic acid 150mg every 8 hrs for 7 days.
But all the antibiotics won't do much of the pus is stuck in your body and become septic. Trust me all this information is fresh in my head and a zpac would of not helped me a lot for my abcess. And I cought it early.

I still stand by the fact that it's good practice to have a line of defense on hand. If it's possible to save yourself that trip to the Er to get cut on and drained then that's a benefit. I'm sure I've saved myself a trip or two in the past. If I'm concerned, which isn't often, I'll take them immediately. If there's signs of a fever worsening or spreading by all means let's all get our asses some medical attention.
I'd never tell a doctor anything other than I poked myself with a finish nail though. Admitted use can still be used against you for insurance purposes.
That being said I mentioned the cephalexin in your post for a few reasons. It's a broad range use antibiotic. One of the dirtiest injections you can receive is stepping on a nail and it penetrating your shoe. Tetanus is a secondary concern these days. Bacteria that live in the foam of your shoe are directly injected into the most vascular area of your body, easily entering your blood stream. And 10 times out of ten for myself, I've been prescribed cephalexin.
There's definitely a time to seek treatment. And it's nothing to play around with.
An ounce of prevention definitely has its merits though. The issue is whether or not people have the common sense to differentiate

be careful, it's always a good idea to run a culture test to make sure the doctor will always treat a nail infection different the a testosterone shot gone wrong.
You should always alternate your antibiotics because you don't want to become immune to one specific type even if it's a broad spectrum. I'm not sure if zpack is effective on killing the types of bacterias that live on human skin. I could be wrong.
I know z pack is good for chlamydia. But that's another story. Lol

Keflex will usually destroy the bacteria that make an abcess pretty quickly. 100% agree with you on that and AAS users should keep some antibiotics on hand

Abcesses in and of themselves really aren't a huge problem in the days of antibiotics if caught early. When you let them fester because you don't know what it is and aren't prepared with the proper medications is when you have a problem
YungJocWhat I mean is that they are more common than you'd think. Not all abscess you see are going to be like that. In fact... most will not have to be drained if you can notice the problem early enough

YungJocProbably Amoxicillin if you happen to have it. Its commonly used for any type of wound really..
Amoxicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotics. If you're prescribed it, that doctor code for "not 100% sure so I'll have a punt with amoxicillin".
YungJocAmoxicillin are pretty easy to get honestly. Of course going to the doctor is the best idea but there are ways you can heal it without a doctor and also lessen the chances of infection at home
