re-use draw pins

ad

does anyone re-use draw pins? if so how many times do you think it is safe to keep useing the same one if you keep it wrapped up in the old wrapper?

I reuse my needles 20 times bringing my cost down to 1 cent per pin. When it gets dull I sharpen it by using the emery board on a book of matches.

Did I mention I have hep A, B & C and that my skin is a pale yellow color; except for that red area next to my injection site... maybe I should get that looked at

once a pin is removed from its wrapping it is no longer sterile, ESPECIALLY after use. Re-using pins can cause local infections to the site or worse if the infection is picked up and transported. I suggest to not re-use them.

For drawing I will actually draw a few pins worth with my 18g. Ya know....load up three 23g pins with my test and deca together. Then I already have my pins ready and loaded for an injection. I will toss out that 18g then. I usually order a box of 100 23g needle and syringes and then will order an extra 25 18g needles only. So in the end I pre-load four of the 23g per every 18g.

Guess it is laziness, was just trying to put off ordering for now until i got back from vacation

why are we even having this conversation?? for the cost of these things why bother the risk? if by some chance it gets contaminated between uses and gets you some "minor" infection would it have been worth it when they only cost a couple cents? not really... you'll feel stupid later taking care of the infection when pins and wipes cost only pennies. if laziness is an issue...step up your game fellas. if you can afford your cycle you can afford and extra box of pins just for drawing. i can.

Never reuse. I will use the same slin pin while reconstituting multiple vials at the same time but that's the only multiple use I do.

It's too cheap not to be safe.

I ususally use a draw pin , then when i am done i will put it back in the plastic , then put that in the plastic my syringe was in , then i will re use 2 or 3 times. just want to find out if i am going to risk infection doing it this way
