need help suggestions with wrestling team
Hi all. I know there is no silver bullet to this problem but I know there is so much raw info here maybe you can offer some help.
Each year this seems to be getting worse and worse and this years its bad.
I coach wrestlers and this time of year is when we first get to really work and train the guys graduating from high school. There is a bad trend that we are getting more and more kids coming in completely strung out bad on adhd meds from all the weight cutting.
Where I need the help is how do we help them get off. Its honestly brutal too watch and it ruined two promising feshman coming in. All they did was sleep and muscles waisted away. We have a highly recruited state champ coming in and I met him over the weekend and he said he has been struggeling with it knowing he will have to piss for ncaa.
Any help or suggestions at all are appreciated. Also remember doctors and programs can blow eligibility or a partial scholarship at times.

I don't see a problem if the kids have legitimate script for the meds. All they need is proper documentation. If the kids are just abusing it because they don't have the self control to cut weight, then they probably aren't the type of guys that you want in your wrestling program.
If you are hell bent on bringing these tweekers into your program, find a real shitty doc that will doesn't give a damn what he prescribes, coach your Atheletes on what they need to say to get the script and boom, you've got an in. That's probably a bad idea though. Could be a quick way to lose your job. Don't let them give you excuses. I've wrestled my whole life. I've used phentermine to cut, and I've dropped that shit cold turkey numerous times and its a hell of a lot stronger than adderal in my opinion,I didn't lay around and make excuses, I didn't not make weight, I worked through it. And it wasn't that hard. I quit Copenhagen mid season once and that was a hell of a lot harder than any adderal or phentermine.
Never give someone the excuse to be a pussy.
One more reason... even with the scripts to get them pass the piss tests the adhd and phent which is rampant is drying them out way way too much and they cant rehydrate quickly enough after weighins to pass the skin and body checks. We have guys pulled for dehydration during skin checks. Phent was culprit for those guys last year.
I totally get it and I never pussy my guys. I teach them how not to break and you can do that by pushing them till they do break.
My issue is this. Im a guy who wants to look on the positive side and give everyone a second chance. I want to believe some of these guys have never been taught the right way to cut. They have been pushed to docs to write them scripts for several scripts for multiple adhd drugs at way to high level of doses. It seems like they are given out to 15 - 18 years old like candy.
Here is my thing I have some good guys coming in that want off the prescription meth and want to learn to cut correctly. I could be an ass and tell them toan the fuck up and quit cold turkey. However part of it ismy own seselfishness of not wanting to weaken team. Honesty its meth I have had several struggle to get off sleep all day miss practice, lose wrestling cardio etc.... so any tips to ease to withdrawl ill take it and still bust their ass.

HardBodEricHave you tried talking to him, like your really concerned? That could make an impact if done right.
Get them on L-Tyrosine. Their dopamine levels tank fast when they stop the meds. The L-Tyrosine will increase dopamine production and increase activity in the nervous system. This will help with preventing excessive sleep/lack of motivation.
Their hunger should return within a week of stopping, and as long as they are not sleeping all the time they will be able to get the calories they need.
If one reads the DSM-IV-TR (medical guide to diagnosing ADHD), they will have no issues obtaining a diagnosis and prescription. I understand you may be unable to suggest this.
