Knee pop on hack squat
ad
Last leg excercise of the day, doing first set of hack squat with light weight , 45 lbs plates on each side. First time going down I feel a pop in my knee and instant knee pain. Anyone know anything about knees and what this pop could be on my left knee and the left outside of knee cap?

Hey, sorry to revive this 10 year old thread.
I had a similar injury about a month ago with one plate on the hacksquat as well haha. I don't remember a pop but I felt it tense up with pain.
I've had this lingering pain in my knee now and was wondering if the pain disappeared for you and what you did to treat it. Thank you very much
I've had a pop before took about a week to get better just lay off it for awhile the start light again
Not really any swelling, just hurts down inside when I put some pressure on it, or bend it all the way.. I never tore anything before so I wasn't sure if that's what it could have been. I'm hopeing it's nothing serious and maybe feels better in a few days, just worried about messing my goals up after I have been making some great progress... Thanks for all the replies it was helpful
Knee pain how?...like it hurts to bend? Cant straighten your leg/cant put weight in it?and it blew up like a balloon..or locked up and a minor sting and no swelling and your good?...
I have had multiple knee injuries and surgeries but i am not a doctor just giving my opinion hope it helps...
maybe its just your bones rubbing together at a weird angle from that exercise...maybe its just water(bursa) in the knee(easy fix but painful)...if the pain doesnt go away or its serious then go to a doctor.
Do you have inflammation? Swelling and or feeling of tightness inside knee after the incident? If a lot of swelling, I'd be thinking LCL. If not a lot of swelling, I'd be thinking lateral meniscus. If you have a very large amount of fluid around your knee or knee cap, you could have ruptured your bursa sac (synovial fluid)(water on the knee). This would require you to make a doctors appointment and have your knee drained.
I'd ice that bitch everyday (especially after use). And take aleve for 2 weeks. If it isn't trending better, I'd make a doctors appointment. If it were me. Good luck homey.
Weakness in your vastus medialis (the teardrop) can cause this if your legs are currently outer quad dominant (vastus lateralis) - it's just an unequal differential pull on the knee cap. I would stay off the hack squat machine for a while and work those leg extensions. Take a look in the mirror and be honest about your quad development. There's also a lot of literature out there on foot positions in the squat that can help too. I'd give this no more than a weak to see if the pain subsides - if not, you're gonna want some imaging done of the patellar tendon. I am NOT an MD . . . bro, sorry about that . . . .
Damn brother sounds like the best advice any one can give is go see your doctor. A lot of the times a pop can b associated with tendons maybe ligaments things of that nature and the only way to tell is goin in. Hope u all the best hope its something minor
