+ 1 I hate injuries......

ad

Well after a great cycle, just before pct starts I hear a pop whilst doing cable crossovers. Nothing heavy, was a second warm up set. End result being a detatched sub-scapular tendon in my shoulder. Less painful than it sounds to be honest, but just got back from seeing the orthopaedic surgeon who has booked me into have surgery 1 week from today. 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Interesting scan in the MRI, I don't fit lol!

Quite possible out of the gym for a reasonable amount of time with this one, well my upper body is anyway. Weakeast point in my physique is definitely my calves, so looks like I'll be hammering those for the foreseeable future....

Anyone done the same? I'm interested to hear about recovery times etc from personal experience.

I currently have no health insurance so I can't go get any mri or anything. Back in June I was doing dumbell presses, heard a like a grinding/tearing kinda sound in my right shoulder. I was so amped at the time I kept going, each rep getting worse and painful. I talked to my buddy who is a nurse, said definitely not rotator cuff, probably a muscle tear. I got an occasional pain in the shoulder depending on what I was doing with it, but have done no upper body lifting since. I swam a lot for a few weeks in July, I think that helped a lot, then about a week and a half ago went for upper body again. Pull ups is what brought back the pain. Definitely not as bad as before tho. Hopefully just more time is all it needs, until I get back to the real world.

That's my only experience with shoulder injuries, if it helps any...

Well fuck, good luck with the recovery brother. Shoulders are a tough one because you use them on pretty much everything. I tore my pec on a second warmup set also, original warmup weight was feeling waaaaaaaaaaaaay too light so I just tossed on 225 and cranked out 10 reps and felt like I could easily get 10 more but on number 11 I felt sort of a burn and I could actually feel the muscle tearing. Knew right away I was fucked.

The funny thing was the MRI Pank. I was too big to fit it, so they got what they called the "Panda Scanner". I thought nothing of it when the radiologist said it, thought it was a brand name for the particular scanner. Turned out it was from London Zoo, used for "scanning pandas" lmao.

No experience with that injury. Just got out of surgery yesterday for a pec tear so I feel your pain. Nothing to do but hammer legs and come back strong after recovery. Goodluck with your surgery

Cheers mate, same to you. No going made on that pec for a while ;)
