+ 2 HRT Necessary?
I recently drew bloods for a basic hormone panel. My total testosterone seems rather low. Still waiting to see the doc to go over the rest of the results.
What are the chances a script of testosterone will be necessary, given my blood levels? It seems the other numbers are more or less within the normal range. Your input is appreciated!
EDIT: Seeing how several members have completely gotten me wrong about why I posted this, I will just wait to go over the test with my doctor. I just thought it would be nice to glean some insight into the possibilities beforehand. No biggie! And no, I do not want to have to jab myself in the ass for the rest of my life. To the contrary, I am hoping the doctor provides me with alternative solutions. Hopefully he doesn't respond to my questions in an equally pejorative manner.

Let's be honest. There all all kinds of stuff that effect low t.. Diet, stress, bodyfat, physical illness, physcological illness, alchohol, drugs, sleep, steriod abuse, lack of workouts, keeping ur phone to close to ur nuts (5G), and long term commitment to women.. Sometimes u just have to change ur lifestyle to get a better load testing.. Thats why u go to a specialized endo doctor, it's because they look at why ur not producing and try to fix that before they just pull a trigger on unnatural hormone replacement.. hmmmmmm!
Bigun2What doth thou medical professional sayeth?
I was prescribed TRT back in 2015 with my total test being 282. This is low number but honestly i felt ok, was not depressed and still had pretty good sex drive. Some people natural have high numbers like 700-800 but if they were to drop to 200-300 they may feel negative effects of low T. On the other hand some people natural optimal number could be 300-400 and if the drop to 250 they may feel total normal. Everyone is different TRT is individual based and decision should be based on how you feel, blood work and current quality of life. If you feel ok and have no symptoms of low T than maybe you can do without.
RustyhookerThe summation of this post
Internet warrior... Posts homophobic jokes in an attempt to belittle others because he gets no respect in real life. Thanks for the blowjob, dude! Do I still owe you one in return?
Bro- TRT should be more about the quality of life than numbers (however, numbers play a big part). So- if your quality of life sucks at those numbers, the you may qualify for it ( and rightfully so!). But some people feel amazing at those numbers. It really comes down to how much your doctor knows about TRT and how liberal he is to dishing out a prescription. I advise you to do really good research and find a good doctor in your area.
So your question really can’t be answered by anyone of us. But I can say, if you go to your doctor and tell him your sex life, energy, sleep, moods... and so on- are good, you probably won’t be walking out with a prescription. (Just a hint my friend). I hope it all works out for you buddy. TRT has changed my life and the wife is also very happy. Honestly, my wife said I can never get off TRT ;)
And if you don’t want to pin weekly, ask for a cream or pellet. Personally, I will only pin, but the options are out there for an alternative. I hope that helps a little.
Molinin302+2 buddy, I will however add he needs to do a little more research and be completely honest with his doc. His numbers are bad, I doubt he would have much trouble, but there may be an underlying issue that's causing these problems. There's just too many to list. I must add that if the doc goes to prescribe you SSRIs, mood elevators, benzodiazipines, viagra, absolutely say NO to any of that shit. Well, take the viagra, but the other stuff is going to hurt you bad in the long run. Question to the OP, are you now or in the past been on any of the aforementioned medications? I have a feeling something is being left out here.
What if the OP needs those things? Telling people to say no to medicines that may actually help them is you diagnosing them like your their doctor and know the whole medical history. I told my wife to stop taking her anti depressants because it was bad for her, she tried to kill herself. Now I consult with her doctor before I end up burying her. If the doctor is not half a quack, they do bloodwork if needed depending on the medicine, and weekly/monthly visits to make sure the drugs are not going to harm you/them. The OP has something going on, and to be honest he is not being forthcoming.
Truth be told, this is the internet and we know noone here, if bad avice is given and the OP or others we dole out advice to harms themself(s); we will have no idea. Are we here to help, or stroke each others ego's?
You normally give good advice but I have to disagree with this one strongly.
AnonNo, no, no on benzos, SSRIs and any other anxiolytic or anti-depressants. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT NEED THIS STUFF and none of it is intended to be a long term rx...the way they are all prescribed.
Unless you're gonna kill yourself or murder somebody else, in which case you probably need to be institutionalized anyway. Suck it up and find another way.
I agree too, i took lexapro, paxil, Zoloft, xanax, valium, trazadone, seroquel and fiorecet. These drugs didn't make my situation any better all they did is make me lose touch of my true self. I had un treated traumas from child and once was adult i had issues and was prescribed lots of meds to try. I found to do better with out them and rely on God, and other outlets such as training to be my outlet for dealing with things.
I'm with Lindsay on this one 100%. I spent over 20 years on the shit, suicidal twice from it. My wife was fucked up on the shit. She is off now. They tried to to put my oldest daughter on the stuff.
Once you start, really cant go back, one way road usually.
No masters, just real life experience and common sense. My 2 cents.
Same here - I went down the Opiates route prescribed to me by a doctor 10 years ago and after a week I had destroyed my whole life by the way I was acting on them, Job, girlfriend, friends & my relationship with my parents. NEVER rely on any mind altering drug to get you out of how you are feeling, you will only become dependant on it and feel even worse when trying to come off it and withdrawing. Find solutions in life such as exercise, walking, meetings, talking to professionals or volunteering. There are so many ways other than prescription drugs.
Amen brother, been down that rabbit hole waaaay too deep.
Do you have a masters in psychology? I do. You have zero idea what you are talking about. Medicine works as long as it's monitored and not abused. My wife needs her anti depressants. I was wrong when I tried to take it away.
AnonIf you gotta 'post your resume', that's a loss before 'go'. That is ALWAYS, no matter the context, an attempt to give weight to a weak argument, usually a dissenting view, or proof of outcome. You have 100% proof of your statements, and you're 100% right - maybe - with a focus group of one.
Let's play along for a minute. Psychologist is a pretend psychiatrist...no rx pad. What professional expertise does a psychologist have in treating mental disorders with medication? ZERO. It's outside of your scope of practice.
A nurse or PA is not 'almost a doctor.'
An EMT is not 'almost a paramedic.'
A phychologist (or less, a degree in psychology) is not 'almost a psychiatrist'. (The main culprits of over prescribing the poisons referenced anyway.)
Careful who you bow up to with your expertise. While you may not be able to prescribe or administer meds...many here can/do. They're probably not going to give you their professional profile.
Just take the loss. Don't make it personal.
I can come back on this 100 different ways and I will still be wrong even if I'm right. I won't offer any advice anymore and I won't help anyone.
Molinin302Have to give the + and practice the humility I profess others to use. What's hurt me in the past, prescribed at too high at too high a dose may be what others need. It's just something that hits me personally. When I got to see an endo in my network, the guy turned out to be a weirdo. Immediately wanted to put me on the meds I mentioned. My test level at 40yo was just under 800. After the benzo treatment along with antidepressants, in a short time after hospitalizations from withdrawals I was at 374. I'm not a physician, only offer my experience, education, and advice. But you're right bro, I did overstep on this one. We all make mistakes.
AnonYou are pragmatic Moli...simple, direct, based on experience. You got this one right, regardless of whether or not you sold it in a way palatable to all.
I would offer you a tissue, but it looks like you need a towel.
Lindsay and Molin are "salt of the earth people". Very real, I can feel their emotions an empathy.
AnonVery kind. Thanks Halsey.
Give them a vote if you find it helpful.PermalinkThey are both Great guys
I think I got things wrong with you Bud a while back so please accept my apology.
I like it! ;)
Molinin302Yeah, its a good community. Great place to be. Did I say TGIF? This week can kiss my entire ass at this point.
Agree!! I’m going out tonight!
That means alot to me brother, I appreciate it.
Molinin302Appreciate it, I'd just hate to see another person go through what I went through. Nearly cost me my life.
No worries. My experience with some drugs was good and bad as well as what I witnessed with friends/family.
I have never taken any of the mentioned medications nor any prescribed medications. I have not even taken OTC's but for the occasional NSAID or vitamin. The last time I used was 5+ years ago. I wish there were some other underlying cause -- it would be easier to mitigate some of the symptoms of the low T I am experiencing.
Edit: The last time I used gear was 5+ years ago.
Molinin302Get the full panel done my guy, and do your own research. Consult more than one doc. It may turn out to be a lifelong decision. True story, where I live endo and urologist appointments have a very long wait time. I found an out of network endo. I won't go into detail, but it was awful. I went clinic route. Felt better quickly. But... I kept the 11 month wait with the endo with the doc in my network. My ED was gone, along with my anxiety. BP improved, basically overall quality of life. The endo said of course you feel good, you're on drugs. And he was right. He then suggested cocaine would have the same effect. A doctor said this. Cocaine. And he dismissed the testosterone, suggested a course of drug treatment that almost killed me and crashed me (odd since he was in network). He told me the benefits I was enjoying would be gone within a couple months, well, a few years later and I keep getting healthier. Look my bro, maybe my story is unique, I'm not a physician, but it works for me. And I never had a doc in any situation mention cocaine. Just do your research, consult more than one opinion. Best wishes bro. I mean that.
Go see a doctor and request a full blood panel not just a hormone one. You want to find the answer then stop looking at one thing, ALL your symptoms can be caused by a hundred things besides low T; Low T is just a side effect of whatever it is. Or just throw drugs at it. Then throw more to counter the ones your taking.
And just keep chasing your tail.

You are a man of knowledge and great advice.. spot on!
'Pejorative manner' - Blimey Eroids has never seen these kinds of words, go easy on us all Lol
Thats a new one on me too, don't even have a bloody clue what it means!
'A pejorative or slur is a word or grammatical form expressing a negative or a disrespectful connotation, a low opinion, or a lack of respect toward someone or something. It is also used to express criticism, hostility, or disregard. Wikipedia'
Well I can't argue with you there Lmao
AnonLmao we've been schooled.
RustyhookerI am hoping the doctor provides me with alternative solutions.
A good Dr will do just that
Hopefully he doesn't respond to my questions in an equally pejorative manner.
Dont be a prick. You came here asking the obvious
Things that lower natty testosterone
*stress
*kids
*bills
*crabby wife--see first option
*medications
*not working out
*crap diet
And list goes on....
The first thing I think of when I see these kinds of posts is what actually led a person to this website. If you do a Google search and you Google search HRT or trt forums this is not the first website that pops up there are hundreds of websites dedicated just to HRT or trt so it always makes me scratch my head of why are they here in the first place, looking for a cosign? Because let's be honest here just looking around this site as a first time user you don't see a lot about trt even though there is a section dedicated to it this is mostly a forum about bodybuilding weight training powerlifting etc
RustyhookerCosign into the magic world of instant ifbb fame. Guaranteed to be stage ready in 6 months or less. Its been proven!
Oh and meantime what about peptides, ciallis, taboo and an iv drip? Can i do it too?
It’ll be ok
Does he want trt?
Does he want a natural solution?
Not getting a real "under control" vibe here, Marty. It is Glen, isn't it?
No idea what you are talking about; no idea who you are talking about. Some of you guys sure have a way of making assumptions about newcomers. I guess I can't blame you. I don't know what you mean by a not "under control" vibe. You came to that conclusion based on what? The limited information I provided? I didn't come here for psychotherapy.
I got a vibe about you too. Care to know what it is?
Be nice bro.. you asked an honest question, but these guys have a world of knowledge, so don’t burn any bridges.
The bottom line of mine is one of my favorite quotes from Deadpool 2. I really dont know honestly what you want.
No disrespect, but we do get a lot of trolls. Plus, youve given very little information about yourself.
+1 for the edit, being new here can be a bit rough.
AAW, Halsey has a soft spot .. what a nice pickle ( and I’m only talking about your profile pic). Lol ;)
Thanks for my pickle compliments. Even if it is my profile pic.
Rustyhookersoft spot .. what a nice pickle
Theres sources that can help with soft spots....lol
Thanks, but I'm not into gay midget porn! Lol
Thats funny. How are u able to go over ur results before the doctor can go over them with u? Anyways, I'd wait to see ur doctor. Not sure what course of treatment ur looking for? U might be like these 20 y/o's wanting trt for life?? Wait to see ur options.
