+ 1 How to prevent coring on vial stoppers
Hi All,
Looking for some advice on how to prevent coring in my vials? I’m not new to this game, but for some reason over the past couple of months I’ve cored like 3 vials (thankfully just test). I am going in at a 45 degree to slice and then turning vertical once in vs just jabbing down.
Last night was the final straw having to toss a half used cyp vial. I use a 23g to pull and typically inject with a 25 or 27 depending on location. I’m starting to think a 23g is grabbing rubber too much, so I went with an 18g on a new vial yesterday which worked great, but is going to chew that stopper up even more over long term.
My last resort is using a 25g to draw (they come in Monday) but I feel like that might be overkill and hard to draw.
I’m using proper technique, but still failing. Any advice helps!

I use 25g to draw when i'm on cycle or a 29g slin pin when i'm just on trt. I have noticed with some vendors that the rubber cap does seem to get chewed up more than some others. Particularly ones that have an indent where you are supposed to stick the needle in to draw. They don't have as much space to move around the point you pierce the cap. If you heat up the vial you can quickly draw with smaller gauge needles. Run it under hot water for a couple minutes of wrap it up in a heating pad for 5-10 minutes and you should be golden.
Can’t say I’ve ever noticed any coring. I don’t go in at an angle. Use 21 or 23g usually. Maybe you got some vials with bad rubber. It happens from time to time.

Donate to a source that uses pharma stoppers...
Ex.. West Pharma PTFE stoppers or West Pharma FluroTech stoppers.
I have some hemorrhoid test vials coming in I’m going to be running for my blast. Not sure what they use as stoppers but I really do not want to get any rubber in those lol.
No source I've used on Eroids uses them unfortunately
Biggest gauge I draw with is a 25g. Never have issues and everything flows smoothly. Warm the gear up and you can even draw up through a 30g like it’s water.
Ya going to do this Monday honestly. I have 25’s in the mailbox now so should be all good (hopefully).
Multidose vial adaptor. I put these on any vial im gonna take more then 15 pulls from. Only downside is the increased dead space, but u can figure out how to navigate around that. These are reusable as well.

That’s interesting. The test my pharmacy gave me last refill has the tiniest rubber stopper ever. The only one place you can put the needle is right in the middle so It’s not going to last 30 uses over the next few months. That thing you’re using seems like the solution.

Honestly I have never had this issue - I use Green 21G's to draw and 25G-G-G G-Units to inject and never get rubber coming out or going into oils. Not sure I like this whole 45 degree penetration thing either. Just go straight in as if you are going down the hatch bro!!!

I wonder if Gauge sizes differ between the UK and US - Because I have no idea how these guys draw up through a 25G orange needle?
Use a 23g green. On the odd occasion I’ve mistakenly tried drawing with a 25g fuck all goes into the barrel
Greens are 21G and Blues are 23G mate, even 23G's take forever to get oil through.

It could be the sources type of vials they use. I have not had any problems with this. I use a 23g and I just go straight in the middle of the rubber like the little circle part. You should not go on an angle or twist when inserting as that will indeed destroy the rubber barrier. When you twist it, the needle acts like a circular blade and will cut a small circle in the rubber. Just insert your needle straight down and no twisting.
It’s happened with a few different sources. The 45 degree method is a medical practice to slice and not pull rubber as going straight down pushes more so I was told, you don’t twist you just pus vertical after inside to draw.

Who in the medical field told you that? 15 years in the field and never once heard it but i am living in the USA. Ive been using 23g for years on end to draw and never a issue. Straight in center at 90 degree, draw and straight out. Your stoppers are probably dried out maybe. What country are you and what altitude if that maybe has difference on stopper and climate where its stored.
Saw it online lol. I will go with your guys insight I’m not a medical guy so yeah. I’m in US and right by the water so altitude is nothing. Everything’s stored properly and cleaned well before pulling.
Man it’s so agitating I inspect my vials always before drawing and seeing those little flakes in it just agitates me. I use BD needles if that matters.
All i can say is switch labs or try just drawing with no fancy angles or twists. Sorry first time ever hearing of coring and ive known injectable bottles since 2000. Maybe just never happened to me or anyone i know so dont necessarily mean its not a real thing

I draw with 23g 1in and inject with 23g 1in. Real simple man so i can just buy a 100 pack from amazon. Whatever is on sale. I dont notice a difference in brands just as long as it locks because im paranoid it will pop off
Well I have a medical history and we never used a 45 degree method just straight down in the vial and I was at a Trauma 1 hospital. Putting in IVs and Blood draws we did use a 45 degree method but that is to get inside the vein. I personally have not had this issue with my gear.
Yeah I see your point it’s probably overkill. These damn 23’s are just killing my stoppers. Maybe I’ll try a 25g.
I’ve got a medical history too. They let me out eventually but in retrospect I think they could have kept in there for a while longer.
