ad

Been 3 weeks full vegan. Am in full recomp mode. Fat falling off. Any other vegans out there that can help with keeping protein up and keeping muscle on?

Hi bigrig, I'm sure u have heard of him already, Patrick Babounian, world strongman champion, vegetarian since 2006, vegan since 2011, eats a lot of soy http://www.greatveganathletes.com/vegan_athlete_patrik-baboumian-vegan-s...

Mike Mahler is long time vegan, doesn't eat soy, eats lots of legumes & vegan protein powders http://www.mikemahler.com/online-library/articles/nutrition-programs/pow...

How long u planning on staying vegan?

hi Bigs, I sure don't have a bead on this, I am curious how in the world you guys can keep up with our consume enough protein to maintain let alone build muscle by going vegan? it's a challenge for me at around 250lbs just eating meats. if you do or have found a way, you brother are hardcore lol....

Thanks Tread. Great info. Can't tell you how good I feel in just 3 weeks full vegan. Power Lift Girl is an amazing cook so it makes it very easy.+1

I'm on the road right now so I can't do the research but doesn't some vegetable proteins create estrogen in the body like soy protein?

Yes Doug too much soy can cause problems. I think making soy just one of the choices not the main replacement of protein is probably ok but it's something to keep in mind

Yes. http://www.menshealth.com/nutrition/soys-negative-effects

I'm not sure what a vegan can eat that actually has protein in it. Nuts? Lots and lots of nuts :/

Too much fat though. Although they're good fats monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. You can't just eat nuts because even the good fats you can have too much of.

that seems like an impossible task

Pretty sure for fats from nuts are ok. Can't imagine how much you would have to eat for it to be a problem. There are vegan protein powders but they are quite expensive. I bought some but only use it post workout.
