+ 1 Hair loss or gain during AAS? (More AAS,genetics, stress or age? Or all 4)

ad

When I first started aas in 2008 I used to try to grow a beard but all I could muster was a skinny chin strap. I mean real skinny. After a couple years I grew a full beard and maintained since. So hair growth was part 1. Now on the last 5 years my hair is thinning on the top around the hairline. I know it's not genetics because my father is 76 with full head of hair. Whats your experiences with growth or loss or do you see a trend with different substances?

Ogmudbone62113's picture

My hair hasn't really seemed to thin much. I don't even think I would care if it did. Thanks for sharing your experience buddy. I'm going to do a little reading into the drug anyway thanks bud

That is what I have been told, and my mother's father died in his mid 40's, so if that is true I am about to be entering the unknown

It’s genetic. Both my grandfathers were bald. I still have a full head of hair and so did my dad until he passed. AAS has increased all my hair growth. Head, beard, chest, back, legs... heck every where on my body has gotten more and thicker hair. I think aas has accelerated the growth but either way it was going to coming. Couple full body shaving per year keeps it under control.

I would be happy to donate some for the bald guys if you want some nice wig making material. I got straight and curly available. Mostly black with a little salt and pepper mixed in.

Shave it bro. Get you some new era caps. Steroid use will cause it to come out sooner if it’s in your genes. There’s a myth that it comes from your mothers side. It can come from either and even skip generations. Shave it you’ll be happier.

Mothers side fathers side. Bro no one on my mothers side or fathers side lost their hair or grew hair on their bacj well into their 70s. I started growing back hair and losing hair on my head at 18. I had a full beard by the time i was 15. And this is all without steroids. Some of us just have that CaveMan gene activate every once in a while. Then shit hits the fan.

Like said below it comes from your mother's side. Why worry about your hair if it's naturally coming out I've been going bald since 20 and I had super nice thick hair and it seemed like a couple months and it was gone but i dont give a fuck it was going to happen sooner or later I look in the mirror and don't even recognize myself but fuck it. I've had a full beard since 16 so I just always wear a hat and if a woman says take your hat off i say wash your makeup off and we compromise

I’m a licensed practicing barber. Trust me that’s a myth...

I know that wearing a hat won't make you bald I was just saying that I always wear one now

As stated in Kuffs - never trust a bald barber - he has no respect for your hair :-) .

Lol I give a good haircut and no extra charge for the bad advice.

I still cut my hair short and tight with #1 guard so i am not ashamed if I lose it. I just noticed that thinning few years back but really hasn't progressed in loss compared to time. Like I said I have a full beard so a shaven head will go well

The only product I’ve seen that gets any noticeable results is Propecia. Unfortunately one of the side effects is e.d..

No prob, you earned it.

I don't run big doses, but run long cycles. Haven't noticed any significant hair loss on head - but certainly increased body hair growth. As others have stated - it all comes down to if you are predisposed to MPB (Male Pattern Baldness) regarding head hair loss - if so, then AAS will exacerbate or speed up the process.

TSGT911's picture

You mentioned that your hair loss or growth isn't genetic because your father has a full head of hair at 76, I'm sorry to say but baldness primary comes from your mothers side of the family.

The primary baldness gene is on the X (female) chromosome, which men inherit from their mothers.

If your confused I'll break it down for you.. A women passes on the X chromosome to her offspring. A man passes on either an X or Y chromosome. The combination will either be a XX (female) or a XY (male).

Now if your moms side of the family has a full set of hair, your not safe yet...

The gene for male pattern baldness is actually passed down from both sides of the family. If thats not scary enough, the baldness gene can and may skip generations, and skip people within the same generation. This is why it is perfectly possible to have an older brother with enviable full, thick hair, while you are stuck with an egg dome.

Now, baldness is primarily psychological or we used to believe, but research has linked baldness to some other health risk.

Baldness usually indicates an increased incidence of heart disease, hypertension, high levels of cholesterol, and a higher risk for heart attack

Research has shown that blood pressure reading above 120 over 80 (average) leads to double the risk of hair loss compared to those without hypertension.

As a healthcare worker, one thing is certain: Men who experience hair loss should begin watching their blood pressure and cholesterol and overall protecting heart health.

Fair warning, If your losing your hair, read it as a visible sign to begin saving your life. Time to change: quit smoking, curb your drinking, and start an exercise and diet program to promote heart health.

Cheers

I gave you a +1 for your comment because I fall into this category. Nevertheless,in my own personal opinion which I attribute to nothing but bro science. My hair is falling out because of my increase testosterone use.

+1 for an informative post.

Now I didn't even know that it was inherited from only one side. Just like many don't know that the man/father determines the sex of the baby

"Now, baldness is primarily psychological" - how so?

TSGT911's picture

Its effect is primary psychological not its cause, meaning baldness often results in low self esteem, cause depression, anxiety, and just about any and all other emotional issues.

Commish's picture

I'm with you on this, my friend suffers from depression, low self-esteem and anxiety all from his hair issue. To make matters worse his dad was a life long barber before he passed, so when we were younger he always had a fresh cut, big blowout( straight up back street boy) or the latest "Cool hair style". Now he is pushing forty and he is permanently head fucked. Went from a nightclub king having 5 girlfriends at a time to now he won't even go out to a bar by himself for a soda and burger because he can't handle it.

TSGT911's picture

Mental health is tricky, some people can accept baldness while others can't. There are a lot of bald men who women and some men find attractive.. Michael Jordan, Bruce Willis, Michael Chiklis, Christopher Meloni, Hulk Hogan, Dana White, LL Cool J, Jason Statham, Floyd Mayweather, Patrick Stewart, Vin Diesel, Sean Connery, Dwayne Johnson, and Samuel L. Jackson are just a few.

Your dead right, personally I love it. Not to be vain, but I actually look great with it. I have a great shaped head for it, I constantly get great remarks, I can't go out socially with a freshie without a woman who either asks to touch or one that comes up from behind me and starts rubbing my head, Regardless that I'm with my lady or not.
Part of it, personally I think, goes back to wether or not your an Alpha or leader, are you comfortable in your own skin. The amount of woman I have turned down strictly because they think " I am bald and hot" is crazy. And that fact that I now have a giant scar on top from an auto accident where I saved my date from being ejected thru the windshield makes them melt, literally...... Bic' it is the way to go.

Ozninjaguy's picture

Yes - I get your point now.

When I first posted this forum a friend on here recommended adding "stress". We forget that's a major factor

Commish's picture

Huge factor

Ozninjaguy's picture

Agreed. In my early 40s I had all my hair colour - after 2 years of a messy divorce - 50% was grey.

Commish's picture

The genetics part to my understanding does not go by your father, it goes by your mother's father. That's what a Dr. told me when I asked about my hair loss. And yes DHT based compounds are a hair line killer, must PCT properly after such use. My best friend had such an issue, didn't follow a proper PCT regimen that last time me ran Mast and his shit thinned and fell out. Now he has to use this hair filler shit to fill in the bald gaps.

TSGT911's picture

Solid information, your doctor gave you good info. Your mother would have had the XX chromosome. Meaning your grandmother supplied an X and your grandfather provided an X. Then your mother passed on an X to you with your dad suppling a Y (XY) We can blame baldness on our mothers family but pointing fingers doesn't fix the fact that we now sport shiny chrome domes. Does anyone in here have any personal experience with Propecia (finasteride) or Rogaine (minoxidil)?

That is another question I wanted to ask how effective is Propecia (finasteride) or Rogaine (minoxidil)? Those to respond please only with actual results not you heard it works please lol

IrishWOLFhound's picture

minoxidil worked well for me , I saw some regrowth , I used it for about few years but it was a pain in the ass applying it twice everyday , I eventually dropped it and started dutasteride , I'm keeping the hair I have . I wouldn't say I have a full head of hair but close enough , my brother and dad were bald in their early twenties . I might start using it again , just buy a generic brand its cheaper and as effective as rogaine , worth a try as its very cheap .

Do you use nizoral shampoo ? Its stops my hair shedding , I notice a big difference if I don't use it for a couple of weeks . I try it use it two or three times weekly .

Ozninjaguy's picture

Hearsay only - both kill your libido. A guy I know took finasteride for BPH and said his dick was like a wet noodle.

TSGT911's picture

I have zero experience with those products myself, but I have some knowledge to its downsides from reading about it in my text books. Propecia regrows hair and slows down balding, but only as long as your using it. Once you stop taking it all the regrown hair falls out. Rogaine is applied twice a day and can cause scalp irritation. Rogaine is suppose to slow down the progress of balding and my buddy swears by it... but I ask myself, how do you know how fast your hair would have fallen out without it?

I would love to see some before and after picture from some eroid members

Since I've started to run NPP in cycles I've really started to notice accelerated hairloss, not just off the top but also thickness at the sides too which I've never suffered from before. But in all honesty I think if you are going to run AAS cycles its something that you just have to accept whether you are genetically dispositioned to it or not - You are going to lose more hair and quicker unfortunately...

Pumped_'s picture

When I started with testosterone and sust mixes I was fine but when I got into tren and eq now you mention it is when I started seeing the reverse. But a buddy of mine 26years old cant grow the beard but only a Billy goats patch and he seems to think it will do the same for him starting testosterone but I told him I may be an isolated incident but at least you will get swo'
