H2 inhibitors and nutrient absorption
ad
I was watching a you tube post from Stan Efferding the other day. He was talking about H2 inhibitors and nutrient uptake , also digestion. H2 inhibitors being Zantac, Tagamet,Pepcid,Axid Etc.... I have always had issues with reflux. Off cycle I usually manage it with kefir and probiotics. But when I’m on, especially on Tren I have to supplement with something else. Usually Zantac 150 sometimes 3 a day. I have done some research but can’t really find anything explaining the extent of this issue. Anyone have any further knowledge on this subject ?

JayD718I recently read an article, stating that H2 inhibitor's really only interfere with the absorption of B-12, iron, and possibly only one or two others. Also, it said that supplements or actual vitamins would'nt be affected, only actual food sources. Maybe if necessary, you can include a B-12 supplement, or multivitamin to your meal. Also, like I mentioned, a mixture of digestive enzymes might actually help your problem.
Just stumbled on this short article about antiacids. They recommend substituting with 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar and water prior to a meal to add more acid to the stomach because usually GERD is from a lack of stomach acid. This also aids in better insulin sensitivity and glycogen absporption rate. The main reason for the article is to point out neutralizing stomach acid decreases nutrient absorption as a whole. They also usually have calcium which blocks calcium absorption in the body causing a buildup and eventually kidney stones and strains. As anabolic users should know, anything that strains the kidneys harder is a big no no.

JayD718Have you ever tried taking just a half teaspoon of baking soda, like 2 or 3 times per day? It can be a very effective natural alternative for your situation, but then again it probably would also lower the amount of acid in your stomach! That's really a fucked up situation, because basically almost anything you use to counteract the acid in your stomach, will have acid lowering effects! Maybe, you can try taking a strong probiotic, and or a broad spectrum blend of digestive enzymes, and come at the situation from a different angle.
That's definitely a tough one! I'm sure there has to be something you can take, to combat your problem without affecting nutrient absorption. That really has me curious now, and I'm going to do some research, and try and find some sort of solution to your problem!
Have you ever heard of Bioperine? It's an extract made from black pepper fruit, that helps to increase the bioavailability of nutrients when taken together. Now, I don't know if this supplement would aggravate your situation even more, but maybe you can take this with your meals, and or vitamins to increase their absorption rates, to make up for the amount of nutrients lost when you take your Pepsid, Zantac, or whichever acid reducer. That's just a thought, and even when I read it over, I don't know if this sounds like a good idea or not. Like I said, there has to be a way to overcome this problem. Good luck with everything anyhow!!
Baking soda works like a charm. The only problem with baking soda is it also makes me way to regular. I have taken Rusty’s advice and added more pineapple and papaya in my diet. Also Greg’s and added a fiber supplement. I have cut back on the Zantac , right now it’s one a day. Also drinking a lot more kefir which is full of probiotics. The stuff is pretty amazing actually. Thank you all for your care and concern. That’s why I love this place.
Irritable bowel syndrome will exasperate GERD. Tren can give you IBS.
Start drinking more water and taking a lot more fiber and probiotics like the ones rusty suggested.
My probiotic intake is very good. I will definitely include some supplemental fiber. I’m pretty good about eating whole fiber with every meal. But nothing wrong with throwing some in the shakes as well.
What are your liver values when you feel that way? Be careful with heavy antacid use. It can lead to a whole new set of issues like SIBO or offsetting your HCL.
If the problem becomes that bad, I would suggest reconsidering using the compounds that cause it.
The last time I had bloods pulled on Tren they were definitely elevated but nothing to bad. I agree with you though. My last few blasts have included Tren. I’m prone to MPB anyways but Tren makes me shed like crazy. My attitude sucks and my BP is shitty. So I think Tren and I are done for a bit after this one.
RustyhookerIf the acids in stomach arent breaking down the foods it is possible that the uptake is changed.
Which is why folks talk about papain and bromelain for nature made digestive aids. Papaya and pineapple.
Have you tried the apple cider vinegar? Tren just sucks on its side effects.
Tren does suck for its side affects. That’s for sure. I have tried damn near everything when it comes to reflux and tren. Zantac is the only thing that keeps it at bay.
I used to get it so bad i thought i would burst into flames. Had a script for protonics -generic Prilosec.
It worked good but shortly after i got it i lost the insurance and couldn't pay. Saw a late night infomercial for "natural cures they dont want you to know about." Went on to say it wasnt caused from too much acid but we cant digest all the processed food IE the garbage we eat. And if i drank a half glass of pickle juice a day plus when it bothered me it would fix the problem. Did that for a month and ive had mild heart burn about 4 times in the last 15 year's.
I will definitely give that a try. Seems like it would be very similar to the apple cider vinegar. But it’s worth a shot ! Thanks man
Apple cider will work in the same way.
I just find i like the pickle alot more .
