F'ing Prednisone
So last week I woke up one morning with what appeared to be about 20 bug bites on each one of my legs, all below my knees. I wasn't out in the yard, camping, or outdoors much for that matter so it came to me as a surprise. They have been itching like crazy for the past 5 days. I have one on the posterior side of my left knee that is absolutely huge, oozing, scabbed, and has an inch border or redness around it. I attribute this to it constantly being rubbed from walking, sitting, etc. Anyway, I finally went to see someone for it and was given prescription Loratidine 10mg/day and Prednisone for the itching/swelling at 50mg/day.
I'm currently on my third day of this 5 day regimen. Yesterday I went to the gym and almost felt like my heart was going to explode. I was doing supersets of cable rows and shrugs and could feel my heartbeat everywhere in my body. It took me forever to catch my breath and get my heart rate under control. I'm having bouts of intense sweating doing nothing at all and get occasional headaches now. I already feel some bloat from having to take this crap too, not happy!
Long story short, prednisone sucks and I will be happy when I'm done with it. Most people say the side effects from it last a good week after you are done taking it....Great! Whatever I have to do to get these itching legs taken care of.

Update...
I just returned from meeting with a different doctor. He felt like it was definitely some bug bites that got infected and also said I probably have contact dermatitis. He did ask if I have been around any poison ivy which looking back I was about two weeks ago. He put me on Cephalexin and gave me a tapered dose of prednisone. Said it should start improving in 5 days.
I've never believed in roid rage with anabolics. Both my daughters got severe poison ivy early this summer though and I think I've witnessed it first hand. They were both treated with prednisone, the oldest a shot and a week of tablets, and the younger a ramped dose. I've never seen them act so mean in my life. Corticosteroids definitely don't contribute to a sense of well being
It will make you irritable. They dont call it Pred-head for nothing.
yes that is for sure especially when the symptoms of what you have start to fade!
AnonPrednisone is God awful bro. does the body dirty
Well fellas I woke up this morning after my first day of antibiotics and noticed the area on my calf has declined about 5mm. Nothing drastic but it is going down and not getting worse. I circled the three areas with a marker yesterday afternoon. No change on the other two spots. They still itch pretty bad but the prednisone does help once it kicks in after my morning dose.
I do have two dogs, one of which is a giant and thinks he constantly needs to be in my bed. I did consider fleas or ticks transferring from him into the bed. We eliminated that as well as bed bugs, basically turned our house upside down.
Where you wading in a lake? Sounds like you might have duck itch.
You have dogs? Maybe they gave you fleas..?
