Fasted Cardio
With the EBC coming up I hear a lot of people talking about doing "fasted cardio". I myself plan on doing fasted cardio two or three times per week. My dilemma is that I am addicted to my "protein coffee" in the morning and I'd rather not give it up (I mix about 30-40 grams of protein into my coffee). So I was wondering if that would count against the "fasted cardio", so I started to do some research. I found a post here on eroids that was posted over a year ago and in that post I found this link that has some pretty good info on fasted cardio:

If anyone else here has some knowledge or experience with fasted cardio I'm sure I'm not the only one that would appreciate and benefit from that information.
Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.

im not a fan of fasted cardio its always been extremely easy for me to get contest shape by just tweaking my diet and doing some hit training on a stair master 3 minutes at a moderate pace 1 minute all out craziness takes me 3 to 4 weeks to get peeled, putting on mass is much harder doesn't come as quick as others. how ever it takes longer but its quality my bf never rises above 10 %.
When I do fasted cardio I'm usually on a keto diet and I do it on a full empty stomach. The only thing really available for energy to get me through is body fat since my glycogen stores are empty and I don't think I experience any gluconeogenesis tearing down my muscle tissue either. But, alas, everyone is different.
AnonWorked great for me pre contest. I would drink 20gr bcaas and hit it for 30-45min. Then come home and slam a carb heavy breakfast. I dont recommend fasted cardio to natural athletes. But if youre sauced up, get after it. If you are using hgh, even better. Do your shot prior to the fasted cardio and will utilize even more ffa
jzagThanks for your input. My main concern is whether or not the protein before is a bad idea. So I'm glad to hear that it worked well for you.
If you use protien it's kinda defeating the purpose of "fasted" cardio. The whole point is to burn existing calories. I do fasted cardio last few weeks before show time, and usually just drink some bcaa's during. As mentioned earlier if you're running a cycle it'll keep from burning muscle while doing fasted cardio as long as the duration is kept moderate.
jzagWhat type of cardio would you recommend?
It truly depends on your current bodyfat and goal you're trying to accomplish. I had to resort to fasted cardio since I was getting ready for a show n since my first time dieting for a show...I had about 30 years of fat to get rid of lol. I was around 10-12 % when I started and weighed 232lbs. After dieting for 20 weeks I weighed in at 198lbs for my show. Fasted cardio will help you drop weight that's for sure. But if you do consistent cardio after lifting weights or HIIT, and your diet is on spot you should accomplish your goal.
I still have protein before am cardio on comp prep.
AnonYeah u wont get a big insulin response from protein. 20gr of eaa, hgh, And aas should keep any catabolic effects at bay
Exactly. You and I seem to follow a similar protocol.
