evening back out my chest
ad
Ok folks question for everyone, I think I know the answer but just wanna get a few peoples opinion. I had a an abcess in my left pec and had to be surgically drained, after it was all said and done I lost some size and strength in my left pec. example I was doing 100 pound dumbbell presses now my left side can only handle 85 pound dumbbell. so I have lowered my weight till my left pec catches back up. any training tips or suggestions would greatly be appreciated to help balance them back out .. thanks in advance

I would say number one thing would be not to injur that pec as you re strengthen it. That's not a huge drop (100-85lb dumb bells) considering you just had this done. Your muscles have memory. It should catch back up to the other pec pretty fast. The other pec isn't going to make any major gains while you have this injury to one side. Considering all this, I would train strict with the 85 lb dumbbells and go up from there. I would let the pec coming back from the abcess be the guide as I gain strength back. Tearing a pec would be the worst case scenario. The difficulty for me would be mentally holding myself back, so I don't injur myself during the come back. Good luck bro. Don't know if I added anything but fuck it that's my thoughts. I wish you luck my friend. Kick ass!!
I'm not an expert by any means so I'm just gonna throw this out there. Maybe you should do barbell presses until the strength gets back up, that way your left and right are working together to push the same weight. Even if you lower the weight on DB the left will still be lagging. Or possibly just do DB presses left side only so it is strictly focusing on that side. Either way I would mentally focus on the left pec feeling the contraction all the through the motion. Like I said no expert just something to think about, best of luck.
