+ 8 Eroids direction

ad

Eroids is and has been mainly a review site. When the forums came around it was a spot to ask, teach, share and learn.

Back then i participated with the vets and mods and everyone agreed on the basic guidelines that made forums flow nicely.

Eventually, the cycle logs was added to free up forums and create an even better flow. Less of the cookie cutter forums and expansion into moderate and advanced cycles.

But back then the average joe on here already had a solid base or needed minor tweaks to put on that base and then hit their first cycle. Folks wanted to learn and actually pushed to find newer info.

As times changed and the vets left, the site has also changed. Without true leadership, folks will follow anything. What started as solid info and planning has become more of a free for all. We still see the 125 pound kids in the SI openly asking and getting any info requested without question.

So as these changes are here its been long overdue to see what the members want eroids to be or become. It used to be stats, goals, and priors to help custom fit a safe and proper cycle. Built with a foundation of a solid build and firm grasp on fundamentals.

So to the members.... do you want to keep up the standards we set some 6+ years ago? Or do we turn this boat and skip the pertinent info and just blankly answer the questions as posted?

Caeser's picture

No doubt Rustyhooker... I fully support that approach... and attempt to follow that criteria...

Again, I'll suggest that the flow of things comes from the consistency/uniformity of you top dawgs...

Engineereddisaster's picture

I don't bully for age stats or history. If it's not provided, I don't help. If someone helps without asking and I find out it's a kid, I ding them and "bully" them.
As far as vets go....My base is not bodybuilding or powerlifting. My base is badassedness in its purest form and no homo. Why do you have to lump us all into one category?
Look around bro. There are plenty of vets who specialize in subjects other than bodybuilding and are happy to help.

Caeser's picture

Allow me to clarify.... there are instances where newbies ask for the protocol stats (e.g. history, BF%, etc.) and get overridden by higher karma 'vets'... it's rare, but happens on occasion.

I certainly am not lumping 'vets' into one category... I simply suggested that there are "some vets" who are not helpful if you're not a bodybuilder/powerlifter...

You mention that there are "plenty of vets who specialize in subjects other than bodybuilding"... many of them aren't as active, and most vets don't steer OP's/Newbs in the direction of finding those vets.

The active participants are lacking consistency... the leaders (vets) that drive the site & discussions are not uniform in their approach...

Just my observation brother! Respekt!

Greg's picture

There is a ton of advice submitted in the over 40 & TRT forum and elsewhere that comes from old TRT farts like KMC, to powerlifters, and bodybuilders.

A while back, there was a consistent pushback against bodybuilders thinking that this was a bodybuilding site (or wanting to make it so). Since then, Goals has become an important question to ask and advice isn't necessarily in line with what a bodybuilder would do.

There are undoubtedly times when a vet might rush in and step in a newbs request for stats etc. Sometimes it's because a newbie dosn't know how to look it up themselves on the user profile page. Other times it might be because they were posted on another thread or there's a history the newb is unaware of. And at times it's just alpha behavior which will require the newb to stand his ground or remain beta.

vhman's picture

Many "vets" get burned out now and again from the vast amount of idiots, looking for a co-sign.
It's sad that vts get excited when a new member actally listens, does research and acts responsibly.
That being said, helping folks out is what makes eroids great and everyone should do thread best to do their respective parts.

MedDx's picture

It all goes hand in hand...we follow a protocol...it's not bullying...you're using the term bullying loosely and out of context...

As far as performance...it's better to have a base to build off of, than to have no base at all....

That's why questions and assessments take place prior to advising on AAS use.

Caeser's picture

I 100% agree with the protocol and attempt to follow that at all times...

I am 100% for "bullying" for stats...

My words were probably confusing; I was suggesting that at times lower karma dudes will follow protocol only to be overridden by higher karma dudes... it's rare, but it does occur from time to time... there is a lack of consistency from the leaders (vets) that drive the site & discussions

MedDx's picture

I disagree...I don't ever see that...overridden how and in what way?

Did Greg clarify what you meant? Smile

Caeser's picture

Overridden = when an OP posts an inquiry... participants follow protocol "stats?? pix?? history?? etc."... only to have a "vet" answer the inquiry before any of that is provided...

Gymjunkie01's picture

Well we need to get back to the basics

Age
Stats
Goals
Cycle history
Pic?

A lot of newer members have forgotten this and jump right in dishing out info before getting the big picture..

I wrote rusty a pm about this a little while back. In my 2yrs here what I have seen happen. I walked on eggshells getting tore apart for atleast the first 6 months for answering questions without asking for the info to answer them.
Eroids has changed im not saying its bad now I love being a member shit I basically begged to come back. It will be ever changing but goto other boards and there are none as good as eroids in my opinion.

Below burr and rusty in this post are right about both there points. If we stop bumping heads here then we have become a weak site. While we still bump heads I see it as a good thing multiple opinions on the same subject there is nothing wrong with that.
Though we do need to keep up standards. Keep this the best site there is. Simple stuff that greg and pale already brought up we have rules written in stone,no stats no service as flash said,no talk of taboo topics. Were here to help atleast thats why im here and I believe that all you other guys that have been here longer than me are here for because I got alot of help along my journey to where im at now.

Gettingbig's picture

Thank you rusty you and many others here keep the wheels spinning so that a guy like me can get the information I need and be able to help others with information.

Gettingbig's picture

Thats the magic of eroids brother that's why I will always be around. The group of guys here are great.
You have to remeber my story 260 fat as fuck with a ruptured bicep if you and so many others hadn't have helped me i wouldn't be able to look in the mirror today proud of the progress I've made and happy with the way I look.

My story is a true eroids success story and thats why I will always be here to help everyone.

Pale's picture

Well said.

Honestly it doesn't matter what the membership wants. We have set in stone rules when it comes to under 25's. We have set in stone rules on certain substances. We have set in stone rules about stats. These are not up for debate.

Now, of course we will have grey areas, if something looks wrong Greg or myself are easily approachable and will decide if it warrants our stepping in.

Eroids is a fluid site, membership changes on some fronts and holds stable on others. It is beyond any of our control and completely fruitless to think otherwise. Sure we have had some amazing members move on, but we have had some amazing members grow and step up as well.

giardap's picture

I think your question is timely Rusty.
Without a doubt there is a lot of frustration that is almost tangible, across the forums. Whether its experienced members frustrated with silly questions or newb's frustrated with receiving answers from some and abuse from others... it's quite visible and there is a very aggressive undertone to the site in general as a result..

Standards were implemented for a reason. I am sure those reasons are still, if not more so, valid today than previously. However there is always room for improvement, as with all things. And that goes for the more experienced members giving out abuse and/or bad advice (no-one is immune to that) as well as intermediates or newb's.

I reckon we should work to improve standards.

TheFlash85's picture

No stats no service.

No eroids street cred- get too fuck.

We spoke in pm about this.

Public neggings will fix it with all these karma/ promo whores- they cry when they lose a couple of points.

Thats what karma is there for- rewarding and encouraging or teaching the wrong.

PPGfreak's picture

Quality over quantity. I say we keep the standards high like they were years ago and do things the right way. Even if that means less members.

I would rather only see a couple hundred good Bros on here vs 10,000 meatheads...

In a promo × 1

vs 10,000 meatheads...

A couple of days ago EROIDS passed 126,000 unique user name.

Kind of staggering.

Nah bro, I'll call out all the bullshit and cut no corners. It's the right thing to do and I don't want the blood on my hands.
I could give two shits what the consensus is. I don't lower my standards on this shit. Not now not ever. If it gets me banned for busting a 22 year olds balls for juicing, so be it.

And just so you know I'm serious...
No homo

Rusty, I know that you and i have been butting heads a little lately, and I think thats what this post is about.
You think that I have set aside the standards by answering questions, simple questions from guys that you have determined to not meet the criteria for using gear.

our current dispute is about member Jmdfeb, 44 years old 5-8 200 something. HE asked a pretty basic question about pip, said he always got it before and wondered if the new pipless gear might be fake. Myself and a few others answered the question about the pip.

Our difference of opinion arose after you decided to insult the guy, and probably negged him. Followed with the suggestion that I was some how cosigning a cycle that he was 3 weeks into by answering his question, This same user asked questions one year ago about his ammonia smell... you gave him answers then,,,,, was that you cosigning? Jmdfeb may not be that bright, you answered a question for him and so did I.

We also had a difference of opinion on the recent posts from Mr Feathers, 26 years 6ft 215 and 12%
That member had some serous gyno paranoia after having surgery. He over compensated for itchy nips with too much adex, went and got bloods, and then got more bloods. I tried to help the guy and give solid advice on adex and bloods, you just gave him a hard time. I called you a troll and you unfriended me.

I dont see this as eroids all the sudden helping 125# teens do gear, this is still the same eroids I saw as a noob 4 years ago. We give help and share knowledge to men and women over 25. IF they are doing stupid stuff we tell them, if they ask a stupid question we can pint out the stupid part and then answer the question.

Not everyone has the good fortune to do their first cycle with the help of a good mentor on eroids.( thanks VHman). Some start off poorly and then come to eroids to get help getting back on track, some are still stupid after finding eroids.
I think we can have a forum where we give help and constructive criticism without being assholes. There is a time and a place to haze the shit out of trolls, but a new member asking what seems like stupid questions doesnt have to get the troll treatment.
Am I right, or is Rusty right? I dont know.... Pale and Greg will probably tell me. Rusty.. peace brother, no hard feelings.

Greg's picture

Am I right, or is Rusty right?

You're both right. Rules are not one size fits all situations kind of thing. As long as the intent of the rules are being followed everything should be fine.

One primary rule is not to give advice to someone under 25. Before handing out any advice you should get stats and as much history as needed to provide safe advice. If you haven't done that before handing out advice then you're being sloppy and unthinking; which is dangerous and you should be called out on it.

But how do you know what the exceptions to the rules are? Equate it with underaged drug use. Is anything you're doing enabling the minor to obtain? To get the best high? to know how to use the paraphernalia? Any "how to" questions should be handled cautiously with advice favoring quitting and abstinence.

Advice on health issues at any age is ok when there is a plea for help. Again, cautiously with advice favoring quitting and abstinence.

Basic questions such as color of the oil, half life, difference between esters, etc., questions not cycle related should all be ok but some prudence should still be exercised when talking to the young and/or inexperienced.

One tact would be to not answer questions that are be too basic and let others who are less experienced try and answer the question first. (Unrelated to karma rank), novices would try to help beginners and intermediates would correct and help novices, and so forth up the chain. In this way, novices can get a chance to test their understanding, and gain confidence as they hand out advice without negative feedback from more experienced members. Again, this would repeat itself up the ranks.
