Customs letter received/snagged gear
Hey
Can someone give me any advice (for my bud). He just Got a customs letter today (from earlier post gear got snagged in July) - and it said that he has several 'choices' (letter came certified mail...) - the first option was doing nothing, and the goods would be just confiscated - would have to sign a form, releasing the goods, and it appears from the language of the letter that would take care of it. He would have to sign a notorized form to be sent back saying he agreed to release all goods, etc. (it was a small order under $100) as documented in the letter - etc.
Is that it? Can someone give me some advice for him - meaning no fines if you just surrender stated goods, etc. - small amount - it appears that way, I just want to confirm.
help.

got stung for nice big cycle few week back :/ absolutely fucking sick ' but gotta let it go and thats it !
Dude , if it was that amount, i would just let it go. You dont wanna risk any bullshit just for 60 bucks worth of gear. Let that , charge that to the game . Find a better source that has better packaging on the reviews.
if he replies then he is going to court.. u have to real stupid to reply
Anondammitt dont reply shit and there wont be shit.... thats it
Shit!
Anonthats all you ever do in this situation,,,been there done that
It's similiar to a cop pulling you over, and saying to you "Son, I saw a car that looked like this one, and it was speeding. Were you speeding son? And, if so I will let you off with a warning." If yes answer "yes" the officer might give you a ticket for speeding anyway for admitting you were speeding, or he could let you off.
Just, because something has you name on it, and was mailed to you doesn't necessarily mean it is yours, because it isn't in your possession. Brett Farve signs plenty of Footballs, but that doesn't mean all those footballs are his just because his name is on them. If you admit possession by replying to the letter customs could choose either to let you off or they could fuck you over. Seriously just ignore it! Replying is admitting guilt, don't reply in any circumstance! You have rights, and one of them is the fifth amendment. If you did something bad keep your mouth shut!
Plausible deniability, I didn't sign the letter because I didn't expect an out of country delivery...
really seems like a no brainer ignore the letter
does it matter my wife signed and it came certified mail - or just dont return anything and that should be ok.
mr127superdeethat means nothing dont worry dont return anything
NOT interested in a resend - small order. just dont want to lose my mind over this - it literally said XXXXX worth ($60.00) - etc. etc - with a package, a letter, a form letter to sign and notorize, etc. - it also says if he does nothing, process will start and just have customs seize it with no challenge, etc. I dont see anything about fines or other big time issues...
mr127superdeeur missing my point it is not illegal against the rules or court of law for a law enforcement officer or state agent to lie you into giving a confession do you understand that is what signing that document is a confession! im not replying anymore you have all the info you need.
IGNORE THE LETTER!!! do not reply. you never ordered anything to be sent to you!
he has nothing to worry about just have him burn or destroy the letter it's a loss get a new address
Listen to mr superdee. Definelty dont sign anything. its caught by customs and theres no getting it back. Thats all I can help you with.
mr127superdeeI am not a lawyer but I wouldnt answer the letter. under $100 is such a small package but you never know what could happen when dealing with egos in uniforms. and any response to that letter means he is tying himself to that package! and thats a fact. sometimes that is what those letters are used to do. i seriously doubt anything would happen if he just simply doesnt respond and says he never ordered a package if anyone calls
X2! Some suppliers offer resend with that letter as proof. Use different addy
